    the amount of data facebook would have on users if perfected scares me.

      it doesn't matter because facebook or other companys always have your data

      not all people are willing to give up their privacy

      me too but if you use Facebook or Twitter or something you give up a part of your Privacy so don't use Facebook and say i want to Keep my full Privacy thats Not Working

    • @o0jun0o
      @o0jun0o 7 лет назад +1

      sure using social media is to a degree--giving up part of your privacy. Just as important, I think we should seriously consider how their private data is handled. is it ethical or unethical? so i think it never 'doesn't matter'. The more the # of people stop carrying, the more our voices/opinions won't matter.

      Exactly and then people ask why I bother coding my own voice assistant or anything Reason: I have the data it stores and I know what it saves.

    Is anybody else experiencing google searches where you just type a word and the rest of the search mysteriously gets recommended to you? Have you ever thought about buying cough medicine and then had your phone ring then see it's Pinterest recommending cough remedies? Talking about a certain brand of hair extensions with a friend then seeing ads pop up for that brand? These are all real examples of things I've personally seen happening in real life.

    Interesting how they picked a woman with ALS doing the typing but can't verbally confirmed she is the one ty[ping. Why can't they use a normal patient to demonstrate the tech?

    This would be helpful for those who need it, but it could be harmful if abused. I, myself, is a person fully capable of using my fingers to type using a touch screen or keyboard, so I don’t think I would personally need it. If data from my mind were to be sold or used commercially without my consent, I would be afraid, and filled with envy.

      I have accepted what I wish to accept. I will not be accepting that...I already use my fingers to type "directly from my brain"... I don't need technology inserted in my brain to do what I really do now! Also if I want people to know what I am thinking I will communicate with them. If a person doesn't understand the language I use I can learn theirs or get a translator!!!

    Complex thoughts aren't thought of as physical objects, because there aren't any to stand for them. I think personally that complex thought really is achieved through language. We think of a primitive man 'calculating' where he needs to throw the spear to hit the animal running across his field of view horizontally as complex thought. But are we really calculating, or just making the decision to throw the spear further in the way the animal is running from previous trial and error. I can just remember throwing a ball or some object at a moving target, as a kid, at the position where the object was at the time of the throw before I learned that if you want to hit a moving target you have to throw in it's path.
    I believe that language is like building blocks for complex thought. It sure does make us believe that complex thought exists if we only look at face value. If we look deeper however, just like with anything else, there isn't a greater truth to much of what we're saying. A lot of what we do say has roots in other things that have been said, and likewise. I believe it is just like the illusion of self. Language makes us believe that we are entertaining complex thought. Everything is cause to effect. When things work to our benefit we repeat them and sequences of doing so get figuratively cemented in our brains by the way of the connectome and from there on we build. Layers upon layers of complex thought. And so we reach the point where we are able to recognise that we are outliers among all other earthly creatures in this way, but also fall for this great illusion.
    I am not a neuroscientist, so take everything I said with a grain of salt. Especially the last bit where I tried to incorporate some scientific jargon.
    Please criticise what I have said with respect and let's have a civil discussion.
    Always keen to learn.
    Thanks for reading.

    I’m not interested in using Facebook anyway, so I have less of a chance of ideas being plagiarized directly from my thoughts and mind. I would be scared for humanity’s privacy and intellectual property rights if our brains were to be constantly read.

    Lol these are no thoughts. You can't read thoughts. Also motor functions are controlled in a completely different region than understanding and forming words. Only motor speech control like speaking with your mouth is controlled by the motor region
