I would prefer the longevity of apple google or Samsung vs OnePlus. $300 is a compelling price tag , but I always look at software and hardware support
Some of the Pixel 6a highlights include an OLED display with HDR capabilities, though capped at a 60Hz refresh rate. There is also an IP67 ingress protection rating to enjoy and stereo speakers. While not a chart-topper itself, the Google Tensor chip is quite potent within this price range. You also arguably get a more versatile camera setup with the Pixel 6a, including a 12MP, OIS-enabled main cam and a 12MP ultrawide, 4K video recording in toll. It's just really hard to beat the current value proposition of the Pixel 6a.

Agreed. The 6a is a great value. I have an N30 and the 6a before that. You have to take into account the 6a's awful battery life, garbage modem and it also gets extremely hot doing anything. Other than that, it's a decent device. I like my N30 better though.
MicroSD slot, a headphone jack and a power brick in the box. The fact that this $300 phone has all those but way more expensive phones don't, really depresses me.
I am an iphone guy, got my first Iphone 3 as high school graduate, Never have used anything other than iphone, I bought this budget phone for my niece as a birthday gift, she is 13 , I got iphone 14 pro max, but i was blown away when i was setting this phone for my niece , for $299 its better than the iphone SE, Only if this phone had 4k 60 , it would blow the pixel, she had this phone for about 3 1/2 weeks now, she already got 2 updates plus initial update . Love this budget phone
Right now its $199 with activation at best buy. It also comes with a $30 best buy gift card. The 50w charger by itself is probably another $25 that you would have to pay for. This thing is a steal. I was on the fence about getting it but at this price its really a no brainer.
Interesting phone, I’m now on iPhone since few years and I’m thinking to switch for and Android phone ….. the one that I really like is the pixel 7a 🤔🤔🤔 but I’m a little bit lost with all this models (I’m gone watch your pixel review ) Great video as usual thanks
Love the video as always but for that price,I'd still go with a used Galaxy S21 or add afew bucks n get a used S22,still awesome phone for those that insists on brand-new handsets
If I were seeking a smartphone in this price range this would probably be my choice. However, I feel it is important to mention that this is in fact a budget phone and not a mid-range device. Hence, the LCD display and the Snapdragon 695. Frankly, I think if they had equipped it with an OLED panel and the Snapdragon 7 generation 1 chipset it could have been marketed as a mid-range device. Still, let's not lose sight of the fact that this is a solid device for the money.
Appreciate the video, lots of useful information about the phone! I especially like the battery usage tests. And great music video choice (Tori Kelly) :)
According to some sites this has a 30fps 1080p camera. Also the international version of this phone has a 67w charging and an extra year of software updates. I wouldn’t get either. Nord CE 3 is the phone consider when it will be out.
I like the headphone jack, sd card slot and side fingerprint reader.. who do they think they are, Sony? lol Do you know if this phone has eSim and gorilla glass?
@Thao, Good to know it has no e-sim, I bought my sony xperia 1 iv because it has a physical sim card since I only want a physical sim card, the headphones jack, micro sd card slot and a charger in the box. My samsung galaxy z fold 4 screen is no longer responding to touch input once I dropped the phone even with a case so having an e-sim would be useless in this regard since you need to be able to have touch input with an e-sim. There is long black line in the middle of the inside display of my samsung galaxy z fold 4. It cost $547.99 plus tax at ubreakifix to replace the screen when I spoke with the representative over the phone. Physical sim cards are easier to deal when something like this happens to a phone. My z fold 4 slipped out of my hands with the inside display opened while I was using the phone and it fell on the wooden floor in my room. If the brotect tempered glass screen protector brand came out with a tempered glass screen protector for the z fold 4, it would have been able to protect the inside display. I have the brotect tempered glass screen protector for my pixel 4a 5g and I use the brotect tempered glass screen protector for the samsung galaxy s10 5g on my sony xperia 1 iv even though the screen protector was designed for the samsung galaxy s10 5g. Parts of the display is still exposed on my sony phone and I dropped the phone multiple times even with a case and the temepered glass screen protector and there is no damage on the tempered glass screen protector. I ordered the samsung galaxy s10 5g from germany years ago when I used to have the s10 5g and I took the s10 5g screen protector and put it on my sony phone and it fits with parts of the screen still exposed. The tempered glass screen protector came with a pack of 3 from brotect from germany and I'm still using the same first temepered glass screen protector while the 2 remaining temepered glass screen protectors are still in the box. The back of 3 tempered glass screen protector was less than $20. I found the brotect tempered glass screen protector for my pixel 4a 5g on amazon and a battery case for my pixel 4a 5g on amazon. I'm still using the same tempered glass screen protector for my pixel 4a 5g when I dropped my pixel 4a 5g multiple times on its screen with no damage at all on the tempered glass screen protector. The tempered glass screen protector is a wet install screen protector so you can reapply the same screen protector multiple times if you mess up and there is no adhesive on the back since it just automatically sticks to the screen of the display. The brotect tempered glass screen protector protect the screen for my pixel 4a 5g and sony xperia 1 iv. The brotect tempered glass screen protector is flexible and made of real glass but feels like plastic. The only time the tempered glass screen shattered is when flex the screen protector to a certain degree but other than that I have no issues with tempered glass screen protector. There is matte screen version for the steam deck from brotect on amazon but shipping takes awhile, however there are some mix reviews. Some say the tempered glass screen protector fits the steam deck and some say that the screen protector does not fit the steam deck so it's a gamble. I dropped my pixel 4a 5g and sony xperia 1 iv with the brotect tempered glass screen protector and there is no damage at all on both of my phones and I dropped both of phones directly on there screens in contrete and even in the parking lot. Were you able to get 5g on nord 30? I have the pixel 4a 5g and I'm leaning towards the one plus nord n30 as a replacement for my pixel 4a 5g. Having a mediocre camera is perfectly fine with me since taking pictures is my lowest priority for a phone and 1 year of software updates is perfect for my use case. I use my phone for watching tv, movies, music and playing games. As long as the pictures are not too dark and ok looking and not too blurry looking.
I think you would like the new Motorola Edge+ (2023). Flagship specs, amazing value, fast charging and overall good cameras. Is it on your review queue?
I've had both the Moto g power 5g 2023 and this phone they are exactly the same .. so as ND the Moto is 199. Oh plus you can get the Moto in white and with 256 gbs storage out of the box .. I like the Moto at this point
I have a iPhone 15 Pro Max now.. I'm buying this as my 2nd phone. mind you I've owned a one plus 11 and iPhone 13 Pro and was chilling until I sold both.
I just ordered this phone for my 76 year old Brother. He could care less about gaming, photos or social media. He just use it as a phone with occasional RUclips video viewing and likes loud speakers. If you buy it for the right reasons makes sense.
I picked this one because Samsung wouldn't cover my insurance claim because I didn't have my Knox service activated.its a solid phone ,it gets the job done
The volume mode that goes to 200% i have only ever been able to do when the device is not Bluetoothed to a device. I 99% of the time use a BT device that allows me to send my phones info to my work truck. But because its a BT device the N30 will not go to 200% volume. Tho on my work truck it is needed. Because so many channels send their videos at 25% volume and with the sound all the way up, when working there is so much extraneous noise that you just cant hear what they are saying. And agreed. If your sick of Apple And everyone else. Samsung?! Google?! Yes try OnePlus. Most of their devices I own are mud to upper end devices and work very well. I wanted to know if their budget phones were any good. Sooooo. I bought the N30. For my usage, there is no performance difference between it and the OP11. Seriously. I do not game. I don’t even use these devices to make phone calls. The service I use is used for data only, so everything is a app used. I gps, text, web search, weather, half dozen other apps which do not stress the processor. Same as 90+ percent of the population of the country. The N30 does everything I need in short order.
Oneplus and many other Chinese companies are offering what seem to be pretty decent phones. Not only the lower tier but flagships as well. I am hesitant to purchase their products because of securities issues. Am I justified in this? I don't know! Let's not be naive; all phone manufacturers collect data in one way or another. But what got me thinking about this is that not long ago, one of these Chinese companies was caught with its pants down sending data from their phones to a server in China. Are these only rumours or verified facts? It remains to be determined. When testing a new phone like this one, do you transfer your daily drivers integrally to the test phone? Or are you just using the bare minimum? I know it's out of the scope of this video, but I feel it's a legitimate question.
WTF is up with this phone? What good is the print reader if the phone is going to force you to enter your pin every 6 wakes or so? I've been a huge fan of oneplus since 2016, but this pin sht is ridiculous
I love the way this device looks. But all OP phones are Teflon slick so everything gets a case on it. I think all the options you are looking for are going to be on the Nord 3. That is the midrange phone. The N30 is more a entry level. Probably the only thing lower in standard that im aware of is the Nord N300. But that can only be had from T-Mobile. If you open a new line of service.
Pixel all the way, everyday. Iphone SE is pure garbage and a joke of a "phone" and OP is mediocre lately. Not what it was a few years ago. No more flagship killer.
Would you buy this over a midrange Pixel, Galaxy, or iPhone?
Not if I was intoxicated. A Chinese phone???

I’d go for the SE still simply for the longevity and software support. I’d be surprised if this gets more than one major android update
yup. it only gets one android update
Pixel 6a

So far. after a week with this phone the biggest annoyance for me is that it keeps asking for the pin after every 10 uses. Very annoying.+

I’m buying this as a backup phone. For the money wow.
