Side note, the costumes she wears for performances are made by her Mother Irena, lady with glasses towards the end of the performance. Also for me, the beginning seems like a ritual to communicate from the living to the afterlive, then repeated at the then to leave. The dancers are the spirits of the afterlife and Diana's whisper is the Mother responding. That's how I take it, maybe wrong, please correct if so.

The horses are in the courtyard. The guests are gathered and the wedding celebra-tion begins. In Russia, it was customary to sing sad songs at weddings to scare off evil. This should drive away evil spirits and bring good luck. Such songs were called 'crying'.
Diana's rendition of this song is spectacular, mysterious... great!... everytime. In 2018 she sang this song in the singing competition 'You are super' (she was 14 years old). She won and received international atten-tion. Since then, millions of people have followed her on RUclips and her worldwide fan base is growing rapidly.
Here, she performed at the State Kremlin Palace at the concert for Cosmonautics Day on April 12, 2019.

I would explain the word rechenka. Reka is the word for River and the adding of the middle bit sort of means 'river that is dear to me'. I hope that helps.

Thanks again for both of your time and comments for Diana's performance of Rechenka. For me, this is art in its highest form..... acting, singing, story telling and performance. Side note, the costumes she wears for performances are made by her Mother Irena, lady with glasses towards the end of the performance. Also for me, the beginning seems like a ritual to communicate from the living to the afterlive, then repeated at the then to leave. The dancers are the spirits of the afterlife and Diana's whisper is the Mother responding. That's how I take it, maybe wrong, please correct if so.

I believe this is the first song you have heard in her native language. It's beautiful and compelling. I call it neo-tribal fusion. A compilation of Russian Folk with a modern arrangement. A young orphan girl being married off without a Mother and Father to bless her goes down to the river to talk to the spirits of her Mother. That was the creepy voice you heard. She uses yodeling techniques to express anguish and crying. When they picked her up they put her in that boat she drifted off on. I watched this many times before I figured this out. I'm kinda slow. 😁 Now, you must hear her sing in French. Dernière danse has nearly 200 million views with all the various versions. Get one off of her official site and you will have the longer versions plus excellent working subtitles. There is a small venue live from last January that is fantastic and a massive venue live concert from around November last year. Just avoid the NTV version (the show we are watching now) because it's cut down for time requirements plus they block her content aggressively now, unlike in the past. Great stuff guys. the creepy sound you were surprised with is the as-if words of her dead mother, - another demonstration of Diana's talent to live in her songs. Diana never "sells her voice" as a good or service, she uses it like an artist uses his/her paints. No offeence, guys i don't understand the way you listen to the songs, - the meaning of lyrics is so important both for singer and the audience!
