Straight out of the gate with a D-tier. lol I agree though. I think it was/is commonly suggested that people start playing guitar on a steel string acoustic because if you can play *them* well, then you can play just about anything well. It's how I initially started playing, and not only did it just hurt to play because of no calluses and stuff, it was just difficult to play. String tension is super stiff on acoustic guitars, and when you have a budget acoustic (like most would just starting off) they're really poorly setup, so the action is super high which exacerbates the issue of stiff strings with no calluses. These days, because cnc is so prevalent, even budget electric guitars are decent learning rigs.
Love your obsession with crackles! Reminds me about 1980s BC Rich and Hamer guitars, a lot of their guitars had that style of paintjob (but most of them were equipped with Floyd Rose tremolos and that kinda sucks)
Rad that you had an Ibanez RG470. My first decent electric guitar was a 2004 RG470 in "new penny" finish. Still have it. I blocked the terrible Ibanez licensed floyd tremolo on mine too! At one point I had an EMG 81 set installed, but then switched to DiMarzio Evolution humbuckers. Great mid-priced guitar.
