I love those shrewd Campbell's! Part of my heritage (through my great great grandfather, James Campbell, born 1821 in Scotland), is being a descendant of the Campbell's of Argyll. Love them or hate them, they were an ambitious and hard working clan. 😊
I've followed this story for a while. When i first came across it the story was told that the Calder uncle's were trying to rescue Muriel from being kidnapped. I'd be grateful if you could point me to some of the documents about this.
I'm James Calder son of Charles and when my father would get tipsy he'd tell us children how we used to own much of Scotland until the Campbell's stole it we as kids didn't believe these tales he said the Calder's for a long time banished from there property lived in the ettrick forest and when William Wallace was being hunted it was to the forest and the Calder's he sought refuge and they protected and hid him for a long time as he was the protector of all Scotland now as a man I tell my own sons these tales they won't believe them now but in years to come they'll find there is some truth to them
