This might be the only classic cartoon with an African theme that didn't have native stereotypes that made the cartoon difficult to show in modern times.
Geez, Oswald was like..borderline scary in this one. He lost control of his anger several times when dealing with baby animals, attempted to shoot up a whole clearing of animals, & even took his face off! (altho that's a different kind of scary entirely XD)
Athena Estrada Oswald was kind of a jerk and even a little creepy. But Mickey Mouse could be kind of a jerk in his early cartoons too. You could get away with a lot in the late 20s/early 30s.
This must be one of the more recently found Oswald shorts, as it wasn't on the 13 shorts on the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit DVD. I know some were found after that DVD was made so this must be one of those. Looks like they cleaned up the animation and sourced some higher quality music and SFX as well, since the 13 shorts on the DVD weren't up to the HD quality of this one.
I have this short on my Blu-Ray of Bambi and became a fan of Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and I plan on getting the Walt Disney treasures set of these shorts (which I have a couple of the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs)
Became a fan of this character but sadly not all of his shorts have been found .There are some in 1927 that remind not lost .Really i really hope Disney gets more of this
@@divinebey7015 Nope, its not true. He didnt do any of those drawings. For that reason, he hired hundreds of top notch animators around to help schizzle Oswald The Lucky Rabbit to life.
I think they cleaned it up from the original negatives. Compare this short to stuff like "Trolley Troubles" or "Bright Lights" and they are MUCH lower quality.
Looks like he's reused it twice at least, since the original flying elephant/floating speech bubble thing was also at the end of the 1925 Alice in the Jungle.
Not quite as funny as Great Guns, Hungry Hoboes, or Bright Lights, but I have yet to see a really bad Disney produced Oswald film. The gag with the lion and the pop gun makes this one work for me. This looks like a remake of "Alice in the Jungle."
There is a Walt Disney Treasures DVD that I plan on getting soon of Oswald but I think that Leonard Maltin should consider releasing the Walt Disney Treasures on Blu-Ray.
That's... a really good point. I'veade the joke thst you never see Oswald hop like a bunny. So between that and this I guess he's not so good at being a rabbit.
This might be the only classic cartoon with an African theme that didn't have native stereotypes that made the cartoon difficult to show in modern times.
There's another: Fightin' Pals, it's a Popeye cartoon

Thankfully my cartoons don’t end up like Jerk Ozzie.
I bet back in the day people were dying of laughter. Only to be resurrected by the local necromancer
At last, a African black and white cartoon from the 1920s thats made by Disney that isn’t racist

Yeah, it was found about the time it was uploaded
That and it seems like the title card was made very recently.
I can tell because they certainly DIDN'T have Comic Sans back in 1928.
i freaking love the music of this episode it's wonderful
I love the way the drums kick in when Oswald starts skidding on the ground at 5:14
another one found :)
One Down 9 more to go!
I have this short on my Blu-Ray of Bambi and became a fan of Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and I plan on getting the Walt Disney treasures set of these shorts (which I have a couple of the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs)
PollyPocketFan 78 Me too! The Holy Grail of us cartoon geeks.
Yes correct
Became a fan of this character but sadly not all of his shorts have been found .There are some in 1927 that remind not lost .Really i really hope Disney gets more of this
Thanks so much!!
I love Oswald
The animators on this short include Ub Iwerks, Friz Freleng, Hugh Harman, & Rollin "Ham" Hamilton
Craig Willis good to know
It was Walt Disney
@@divinebey7015 Walt Disney himself stopped animating entirely by 1923

@@hamburgareable I know! Most of the time he barely does anything on the animations
The audio quality is oddly good! The soundtracks must have been preserved perfectly or something.
The soundtrack was made later. All these super old cartoons were originally mute
Let’s see if in the future we’ll find Rickety Gin or The Banker’s Daughter!
this is my favorite one so far😱
very funny carton oh Oswald you are better comic than Mickey XD
Piotr Zandecki o you flatter me
Oswald The Lucky Rabbit nice
Oswald The Lucky Rabbit Your not the real Oswald.
The sole African themed cartoon that doesn’t need an content advisory for ethnic and racial bigotry.
When your gun has ED. 2:30
Danny Zontos underrated comment

Pumkin 101 I didn’t know my kids had a RUclips account
Funny for a lost cartoon
Wow it's looks like it was restored well, not single speck of film reel dust is present! Quite a shame there's the bandicam watermark on top
And that's how Dumbo was created.
The quality of this is amazing considering its like 80 yars old there seems to be little no lines
I think they cleaned it up from the original negatives. Compare this short to stuff like "Trolley Troubles" or "Bright Lights" and they are MUCH lower quality.
@@PlanetZoidstarThis is sourced from a 35mm print. The original negative for this cartoon no longer exists.
5:40 is a total deadpool moment and I love it. Oswald is the best.
Cartoons were doing that stuff long before Deadpool
Oswald rabbit: YEAH
David Sellers YEAH
Hahah, that little tiger
And elephant reminded me Dumbo :"v
He used that same trick at the end in the ocean hop
Zachary Evans o you noticed
Looks like he's reused it twice at least, since the original flying elephant/floating speech bubble thing was also at the end of the 1925 Alice in the Jungle.
EmpyreanLightASMR and the face and body at separate holes gag was done by Julius the Cat, although I forgot the episode it was from
Animals hunting animals
Thanks! 👏 👏 👏

i like all the Disney Oswald shorts
strawberry pancake I like them too
I like these shorts
this cartoon was walts favorite oswald
Thanks Man!!!
so great this was found!
Some times the animation looks weird at the beginning.
they lost some old animation, so they cut it out
Wow it took a year for someone to tell me. Thanks for the information.
A bad restoring
Oswald:HATES Mickey
Oswald:does not being called old
Oswald be like:WTH WHY IS EVERYONE CARES ABOUT MICKEY
I preffer Robert Israels music on the dvd.
( and i do wish Disney would release these shorts on blu ray )
to be fair I like both Robert Israels and Mark Watters music
There is a Walt Disney Treasures DVD that I plan on getting soon of Oswald but I think that Leonard Maltin should consider releasing the Walt Disney Treasures on Blu-Ray.
I still find it funny that guns were allowed in these cartoons, I wonder what year they weren't allowed to use them anymore.
5:38 the elephant becomes dumbo
Well I've been, done, seen about everything when I see an elephant fly
The ending gag was reused from “Alice In The Jungle.”
wait a rabbit can t enter in holes?where is the logic?
Let's be fair, those holes look too small for him to jump into.
That's... a really good point.
I'veade the joke thst you never see Oswald hop like a bunny. So between that and this I guess he's not so good at being a rabbit.
Grunkle Cobro your right
Sinister Sweet hey I’m a rabbit and so what I don’t act like one
Im a Otaku,Gamer & smart Oswald is too big for the holes!
Why is there so many lions in a small log, it makes no sense?
because its a cartoon
1:10 sounds like good videogame music.
Tigrillo con chicharrón
2:27 Oh you think that's funny?
some sounds feel like they came out of a Charlie Brown special, how odd.
Some sounds sound like they came from an Oswald special.
If it’s lost then how come its here?
it was thought lost but rediscovered a few years ago
suspicious...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
tigers do not live in africa
So why is OSwald trying to catch Marsupilami?
3:25 bugs bunny
Pikachu Before Dark
anybody hear the fnf mod and now watching this?
This can’t be from 1928 since Disney made it
Cliffjumper 84 what do you mean
Walt Disney didn’t expect Mickey Mouse to be popular
yes but this was EARLY 1928
