    "Present Arms" has changed quite a bit, hasn't it? Used to be in the old days, everyone carried out the movement at the same time...

      If we had ever paraded like that in front of the general public in my day, there would have been serious repercussions.

      Nice to know the video is reaching far and wide.
      It’s also refreshing to get a positive comment with echoes of our families sentiments. My nephew is 19, now two years in with 3 Rifles, we’re very proud too.
      It’s not their fault that priorities have changed and some of them have never practiced since their Passing Out Parade.
      I’m astounded at so many negative comments from ex service personnel. No wonder we’ve been called ‘whinging Pommes!’
      Keep watching my channel when similar events occur, I’ll be there if at all possible to share those proud moments.

    I dont expect the reserves of the 8th battalion to show any sort of smartness in appearance or any sort of sharpness in their drill but the regulars of the 3rd Battalion should be on the ball. I can only assume that this was a punishment posting to Sunderland and they got all the wasters and skivvers to go on parade.

    Looks like the ones in battle dress need to brush up on rifle drill, a bit sloppy there lads, I suppose they are possibly reserves but even though when out on parade like this they should be up too scratch, just an observation.

    • @keithklivideo
      @keithklivideo  7 месяцев назад

      It’s nice to hear your observations, with understanding. It’s easy to criticise when knowledge of exactly what training or practice they’ve had isn’t available.
      I know first hand, that many have had little practice since their passing out parade. I suppose priorities have changed with the many cutbacks.

      My nephew has been in 3 Rifles since his ‘passing out’ of basic training, which he started 26 months ago. There’s been little or no practice since his ‘passing out’, so it’s understandable they’re not at their best.

      I agree. These young men have signed up to protect us when needed. If marching isn’t as good as days gone by, so what, at least they’re doing their best with limited practice for perfection. Obviously, priorities having changed.
      Sunderland has been in Tyne & Wear, since things changed from its original County Durham location. Very famous for shipbuilding at one time. A very passionate football following, amazing in the turbulent times that SAFC has endured.
