This was the year (summer) I got my DL. And first place i drove to was down town Van! I sure miss the old Vancouver.. Had to go back in ‘15 and couldn’t wait to get out!
What a 'time-capsule'. I was living on Pendrell Street, not far from where you were on the beach. And strangely, I still have a 1990 calendar, that I saved because it was commemorating the centennial of trams and buses in the region.
@@robingourde3324 argghh... i have nothing against people moving into a city and living there but it's the way in which we are living which is creating so many issues: traffic, pollution, homelessness, lack of public input and democracy... etc, etc. We need to learn and change and do things better. I did notice, however, that Vancouver did improve last I was there a few years ago, in terms of the new skytrain links, and bike paths... at least some improvements, but the real estate game is nasty, nasty stuff...
@@robingourde3324 Lack of foreign property ownership laws coupled with the repatriation of Hong Kong to China in 1997 is what brought Vancouver to where it is today.

Born and raised in this city...so sad it is now virtually unrecognizable, it's like this video is a work of fiction compared to the atrocity it is today. (and yes the song is brutal!!!)
Now you have to be rich to live in Vancouver, or any of the suburbs for that matter. And so crowded, ugly, small condos everywhere you look. Unfortunate.
Why sad? Vancouver is a one of a kind of city because of Chinese influence. Yoga, martial arts, Chinese arts, food, medicine, movies, good looking boys and girls, people with work ethics. So sad😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

Oh how I would love to go back in that time 1990 and be 18 years old again
Damn , you are old
Vancouver, I miss the way you were back then. It's horrible now; far too many people and too unsafe nowadays. Thanks for the memories ♥

That summer they were filming "Short Time" in downtown Vancouver, great movie, best car chase EVER!!!
Vancouver got meaner and uglier shortly after this video... I remember.
It got Campbellized
It happened after Expo 86. Vancouver became a "World Class City". The Olympics helped it further along.
