Honestly it's a pretty low bar, but sometimes the animals flipping out makes the sketch funnier. This one benefited from the professional actor.

But let's set one thing straight for MeTV fans, who we know are always more in the know about classic TV: Comet on Full House is NOT the same dog as the Air Bud star. Air Bud also has a wikipedia page (the dog does) and it makes no mention of an early role on Full House.

When I saw the blue & gold timberwolves uniforms I thought they looked familiar, but once she mentioned Air Bud, memories of watching that movie & its sequels on VHS flooded my brain.
That could have gone super disastrous playing to an animal, but Sydney did a super job of keeping the pace. Well done.

Premise for the sketch could be better, but I do appreciate Air Bud getting some love after all these years.
Definitely. This bit had ONE theme and that was it. Make the point with the dog and her and then move forward. The guy who "can't get taller" was progress but then they slid back into the groove which was already played out. These comments on every video are a sign. No animosity, no resentment, just real criticisms of the lack of originality and social commentary. We need something new and raw. Something that speaks to current life in different ways
@@tattoofthesunn795 That's perfectly stated. I said years ago, that what differentiated SNL from MadTV for me was that, SNL has this quality where it feels like it's overplaying the joke. Where once you've laughed at it, it just seems to go on a bit longer than what's comfortable, and starts to border on being awkward and in the worst case, kind of cringy. There's rarely any surprise twist, it's just the same one note.
What, you don't think "Sydney Sweeny wants to get fucked by a literal dog" should've made it to air?

I was a cheerleader for 8 years of my life, including college (1977). Our skirt for basketball was exactly like the ones they are wearing, custom-made from our design. Brought back a lot of memories for me, but especially those girls' attitudes. Not all cheerleaders are like that. I wasn't, but I sure knew a he.ll of a lot who were. It was even worse in high school. It's the only thing that makes me glad I'm old now😂.

Air Bud’s deadpan delivery and wit sells the sketch so well.
Sydney Sweeney should have been casted as one of the plastics in Mean Girls musical movie, the cast they picked for the mean girls are all adorable and cute, nothing to do with mean girls, in the other way, Sydney has this insidious cuteness and versatility wickedness to deploy a perfect plastic, lost opportunity!
