You're all right, but was it funnier than most SNL sketches recently?! I at least wanted to (slightly) laugh at the shane sketches. Honestly SNL just isn't that funny. We build it up because it's an early staple of so-called "sketch" comedy.
I think about sketches from the 80's&90's... there was more power. Like Eddie Murphy as Mr.Robinson, and James Brown.

She has low standards.
There have been actual makeup and hair stylists at weddings who do this very thing. I just saw a TikTok where the hairstylist ruined the bride's hair and was looking for instant payment. Meanwhile, the bride's mother is rushing to find another hairstylist to fix the first stylist's mistake. The first stylist just stood around demanding payment while everyone is in tears.
How bad was it that it couldn’t be fixed? It was just styling, right? I imagine that anything risky like coloring or cutting wouldn’t have been done the day of. How badly can someone mess up “day of” styling alone? Did they burn her hair off with the curling iron?

There's an often recurring theme of sketches about terrible/incompetent customer service this season, I just wanted the writers to know they don't have to keep going back to that well, it ran dry awhile ago...
You can tell they’re writing about their own experiences as privileged folk complaining about common workers

Yeah, I think everyone who is commenting that women aren't funny or that this is missing a punchline are just unfamiliar with *events which are more traditionally experienced by women*. And they could complain that this is too feminine, but then I would bring up how so many other SNL sketches are on "bro culture". I think there is something interesting in the way that women are brought up to understand and relate to "bro culture" humor much more so than men are brought up to relate to comedy surrounding women's life and how there is even shame or this sense of "being less than" around women's views of the world. Wild.

The show has a history of doing great and then absolutely tanking - which is what’s happening here. Comedy is subjective, but ratings aren’t - and I suspect we’ll see how crap this season is once the ratings drop.

If you notice the body language at least the first half of the sketch, something was wrong. Maybe the wrong cue cards or no cue cards? Or a sketch they’d previously prepared for got cut, so they had to use an AI backup? Lol there’s no way anyone with talent approved this

The characters just aren't extreme enough - that's the problem with this sketch. They should have put more wild emotion in and STOP LOOKING AT THE CARDS SO MUCH! The good ones are able to act around the cards, not at them.

In the early years they’re told it’s just a self help philosophy but as you rise up, they tell you about the Xenu and Thetans. That’s when you have to drop your old identity. Chloe IS a Scientologist

What happened?! SNL has been so good lately. This week's episode crashed and burned!. They went from the brilliance of Church on Vacation (Unda dee blood) last week to one flop after another this week.
We get it. The Makeup artists are insensitive. This is why SNL is not funny anymore. Ninety percent of ALL of their sketches and short films are the SAME JOKE repeated OVER and OVER again. The entire, 'aren't we precious' writing staff seems to forgotten that most important element of comedy is SURPRISE. The ideas of their sketches are funny but driving them into the ground by repeating the joke ad-infintum is lazy, unoriginal and BORING. SNL in its current form makes me think that sketch comedy is dead.
Now those are some heavy naturals.
Cast and writing-wise, this is definitely becoming the worst season in a long time.

SNL really had another renaissance when they had Cecily, Pete, Kate, Kyle, Beck, etc…now they’re in a REAL rough patch. The few good ones they have left (including Heidi) deserve better…and please, stop doubling down on Sarah Sherman. She’s funny but she gives major drama kid cult leader vibes (and no hate on drama kids as I was one lol) and they keep shoving her down our throats

Her acting is thoroughly uncanny. When she's on her own, that's ok, it's her style. But in a sketch with others, she's completely inorganic.

The most accurate thing about this, if a wedding vendor, (baker, florist, etc....) doesn’t get paid in full before the wedding day, very often they never get paid the balance. 😢
I just think SNL is a hit or miss game each week now...this week was a miss. Haven't laughed at any of Sydney's skits sadly.

I enjoyed this sketch and I thought the writing was decent for what the sketch called for. I do wonder why the energy was so low, especially in the instance of a bride being left by her cheating husband the day of the wedding. And the bride is Heidi Gardner, the queen of distraught women. Was there a note to turn down the energy or risk being cut?
