    Although only room to save 5 "channels" is there the ability to save numerous rooms within each channel? Should receive my radio next week and appreciate your Videos and their info -- should enable me to get a MUCH quicker start!

    Hi, just got my ft 70dr. I was wondering how you felt about a signal stick antenna on this radio? Is it better than the stock antenna?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  4 месяца назад

      Signal stick will work better than the stock FT70D in my experience. I believe others report the same! Good choice!

    I have the FT-70D with a hotspot. To get into America Link, I need to enter FCS003. How do I enter this as it seems to only want a number. On my FT-3D I can enter the FCS number but not sure what to do on my FT-70D

    Great video/videos...I am trying to make a comeback into ham radio. after many years. I am talking early 90's, when I stopped using ham, more or less...both USA and in Venezuela.
    Now I just acquired two Yaesu Radios (Ft-70DR and FTM-300DR). One being the one, discussed/described here.
    I wonder if you might know why, does this radio, offsets 70cm 446.000MHz (-5MHz)?. I understand it being in the vicinity of repeater common freqs, but the freq is also conventionally considered National Simplex frequency, for 70cm, weather or not it is used as such or local band plans use it as double purpose, or it became a virtual simplex (with -5MHz, offset), and when used with tones, it is for repeater Ops. or Am I wrong, or missing the big picture, here?...I am also as well trying to become familiar with the idiosyncrasies of the radio itself...

    • @andresfalotico7194
      @andresfalotico7194 3 года назад

      I found the solution/work around, remove the ARS from both radios, save 446.000MHz in memory without Offset. Then turn the ARS feature 'ON". Now you can recall the 446.000MHz and it will be simplex...

    Can you help me connect to a simple Allstar node? And, how is Wires X different from Allstar? I live in a very rural area with limited repeaters. Thanks for your videos.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 года назад

      Absolutely. You would need an allstar node to connect to. There may be one locally, but you also may want your own personal node. I recommend the Shari. It runs off a raspberry pi and can be purchased for around 70 dollars. Allstar utilizes Voice Over IP technology to communicate analog signals over the internet to an allstar node. The allstar node then typically (not always), transmits RF to your amateur radio. This is all analog, but the nice thing about this is it requires no special radio. Wires X is digital and currently in order to use C4FM technology on wires X, you must have a Yaesu capable of digital radio. Subjectively, I feel the sound on analog sounds better than digital, when you have two signals that sound the same. If you go to stats.allstarlink.org/maps/allstarNodesMap.php You could see a list of all the current allstar nodes and one MAY be in your area. Please let me know if you have more questions

    Good morning HRD. Was trying to follow your instructions on programming WIRES-X and got messed up. SURPRISE ! Anyway, I can't get back to the Frequencies I have Already Stored. I'm in the Mode where it is listing the beginning numbers in a frequency like 145.000. I want to get back to the Call signs I have programmed and am puzzled on how to do that. I've held down the "mode" button but to no avail. Need your assistance brother. Appreciate anything you can do. KD9QAN standing by.

    If you save a room while in wires-x, when you go to a hotspot connection will it still work from memory?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  4 года назад

      If it's true Wires X and not a MMDVM hotspot, it should. I feel like I was able to test it once (lack of fusion in my area). I can test it in the next day or two and let you know for sure.

    Hi, How do i save multiple rooms for the same Wires-X repeater?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 года назад

      Should not be any difference. Connect to the room you wish you save and then complete the process. I'm not near a wiresx repeater at the moment, but here are some instructions that may assist you: "While in the Cn Screen, press and hold a number key from [1-5] to enter that room into a
      memory slot.
      2. Entering a Wires-X room into 1 of the 5 Wires-X memory channels that already has an
      entry will cause the previous entry to be overwritten."
      Hope that was of some help

    • @everettrantanen1732
      @everettrantanen1732 3 года назад

      @@HAMRADIODUDE Thanks for the quick response....It seems I can only save 5 "rooms" per repeater. C0 always has the last room entered.....you cannot appear to save to it.....5 rooms seems like a big limitation unless there is a way around it? Also when i am attached locally to my Fusion Repeater I can get user info (callsign name) but when i am attached to a room all i see is the scrolling room name...is that correct?
