I wanna tell you something...I saw RJD 4 times in my life. Twice when he was on top (Tower theater and Spectrum both sold out shows) and twice in a local club after he was on top..BUT at every show he gave the same 110% of himself! And I mean that. He REALLY wanted to entertain at an extremely high level. He strived for perfection and achieved it!! R.I.P Ronnie
I only got to see Ronnie James Dio once, in 1992, with Black Sabbath, probably shortly after a fight. Iommi and Geezer were very pissed off and didn't play at their usual level, while RJD, well, he completely knocked out everyone on stage. It has never happened again to see such an absurdly good singer on stage. RJD gave 110%, despite very shortly after announcing his (umpteenth) departure from the band. Appice's performance was very concrete
Killer Rowan Robertson riff, killer solo section, balls out drumming by simon wright. whatever else you think of Lock up the Wolves, they were firing on all pistons on this track.
U mean on the entire ALBUM!!! It is my favorite to be honest I don't care what anybody says! I wish they could have stayed with this lineup and kept putting out albums!!! Solid Gold!!!
This really marks a peak for DIO and Rowan Robertson is amazing.... but it's like... it went unnoticed except for some hardcore Dio / metal fans - what an amazing lineup and all of the songs were VERY GOOD and strong!
I agree just discovered this song just now this is very underrated. Don't get me wrong I love the album "Holy Diver" and most fans of Dio have heard those songs but the whole albums "Dream Evil" and "Lock Up The Wolves" are just as great.
Rowan is incredible. Saw him live recently alongside Andy Martongelli, Gus G and Michael Angelo Batio in Greece. Had a little talk with him after the show about how thrilled I was about talking with a former Dio guitarist and he was friendly as all hell. Bless him man he's too good
I remember buying this CD. My brother had some amazing Klipsch speakers. We hit play and this song comes on. OH MY GAWD! What an amazing album. What and amazing song.
Dio can you hear me, you still fkn rock. I know your up there on your throne looking down on us. Rock is not the devils work it’s magical and rad, and I know I will forever rock, even though I’m now a Gran!!!! Gotta the grandkids in the party zone!!! Gotta rock out hard when your in my home!!! 😉😆😆🎸
What a cool guy - Ronnie James Dio! You know? The rare times I saw him in interviews he had an aura of class and dignity - a real gentleman! Wow! Ronnie Jamie Dio passed away. OMG! I am still trying to wrap my head around that. Granted, he was no spring chicken - but Ronnie James Dio meant so much to me growing up. To me, he was God-like; he was so talented on so many levels - singing, songwriting, producing - that people only WISH they could compare.
"Wild One" You say you've never seen the light before Does anyone believe you Don't let them hear you say anymore Nothing's really safe around here We are an imitation of the crown We never turn the pages They cannot let your spirit touch the ground And nothing's gonna change around here, no Crack in the ceiling Hole in the wall They bend you over But you won't crawl away You've got two in the bushes One in the hand They'd make you over But they can't understand you You're always gonna be the wild one Pretend that all you really feel is pain Just hide behind some sorrow How sad But you'd do it all again (I guess that) Nobody changes 'round here Cat in the cradle Man in the moon They'd make you over But it's too soon to know, no Smoke in the kitchen Fire in the hall The train is coming And you can hear it calling You're always gonna be the wild one Crack in the ceiling Hole in the wall They bend you over But you won't crawl away You've got two in the bushes One in the hand They'd make you over But they can't understand you You're always gonna be the Wild One
Without a doubt, Dio will never be replaced. Blessed Be to the man and his loved ones. His legacy and his talent are without question. We used to blast out the barracks with his music, during the first gulf war. To those who don't know or have forgotten. Bands such as MANOWAR, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, continue to hold the banner of Metal high. As long as we never forsake his memory, and crank the volume up to "10". He will look upon us and be pleased. Brothers of Metal salute!!! SEMPER FI.
I actually prefer this one to the 'classic' Dio band albums - he's refined this style to perfection with this one just before the inevitable need to change came along. Not sure the change in personnel was necessary, but that may well have been a vital ingredient to keep it fresh.
william dechant no that's from Dehumanizer.. Ever hear that album? Listen to it twice in a row if you haven't and you'll have a new favorite metal album Black Sabbath Dehumanizer.. Best metal album of the 90s easily
Never seen this video before but anything Dio sings is awesome. It has a little different vide then his usual medieval power metal. How does such a tiny guy have such a powerful vocal .
I was a freshman in high school when this video came out & that’s what life was really like, Ronnie had his shit together, I don’t know if there’s an afterlife, but if there is, I’m hanging with him.
I think Rowan Robertson was one of the greatest guitarists that Dio ever had and was truly a prodigy with that level of command while still in his teens. It’s sad that a second album with him never materialised because of label pressure to reunite with Black Sabbath.
@@quit293 The question is what are you smoking? Did I say anywhere that Rowan Robertson was the absolute best guitarist Dio ever had in my comment? No…I said the he was one of the greatest they had considering he was only seventeen and managed to end up getting the Dio gig plus he also co-wrote the songs on that album. Ronnie knew talent when he saw it and brought it into his band. I don’t have a favourite Dio guitarist, I think they all were incredible.
Ronnie once again is singing about us, look out and beware. "The train is coming. And you can hear it calling. (I guess that) Nobody changes 'round here".

This man speaks beyond the grave to us.
THE voice of metal!
Rock, hard, Heavy. Dio faz muita falta ao mundo da música.
Awuevo 🤘🏻
Sure
This particular song sounds more like hard rock than heavy metal imo
He went from Doowop to Heavy Metal Legend. He had a great career
Rowan Robertson is an amazing guitarist, He was 17 when he joined Dio. He was another Randy Rhoads.
Killer Rowan Robertson riff, killer solo section, balls out drumming by simon wright. whatever else you think of Lock up the Wolves, they were firing on all pistons on this track.

Rowan Robertson absolutely got shafted in this video. SMOKIN'!!
It's a shame this lineup didn't get more attention. They produced magic.
I like all his songs, all his albums, solo and with others. And he's the best lyricist in rock/heavymetal.
Hell yes I'm Buddy McGee and I agree he's bad ass
Yes he was
Dio and the boys at the cusp of the early 90s, they hit it hard and heavy, metal though and through. R.I.P Ronnie. I miss you.
The Lock Up the Wolves album is very underrated.
+bthere100 it's one of my favorites.... all of them are my favorites.... can't pick just one dio album to be my favorite....
Agreed! & the title track is a thrill! Although Twisted is my favorite.
Hey, sorry for my dumb question, but... what mean "underrated"? english is not my native language...
Carolina Araújo "Underrated" is when something good doesn't have the success he deserves
Thank you! And yes, it's underrated, not only this song but all of his songs. Anyways, good taste is not for everybody xD
Holy shit that kid was killing it on the guitar

I surprised Rowan's contributions to this my most favorite album.
Rowan Masters that Guitar!
And I think he was only 19 yrs old!
Sweet, Lock Up The Wolves era stuff. Ronnie sounds great here and Rowan Robertson was a blast.
INSANE SOLO - Rowan is incredible- why did he ever leave Dio? What an incredible band - great songs and musicians
Dio has joined to Black Sabbath. That why Rowan had to left Dio.
Vivian Campbell was my favorite

"Wild One"
You say you've never seen the light before
Does anyone believe you
Don't let them hear you say anymore
Nothing's really safe around here
We are an imitation of the crown
We never turn the pages
They cannot let your spirit touch the ground
And nothing's gonna change around here, no
Crack in the ceiling
Hole in the wall
They bend you over
But you won't crawl away
You've got two in the bushes
One in the hand
They'd make you over
But they can't understand you
You're always gonna be the wild one
Pretend that all you really feel is pain
Just hide behind some sorrow
How sad
But you'd do it all again
(I guess that) Nobody changes 'round here
Cat in the cradle
Man in the moon
They'd make you over
But it's too soon to know, no
Smoke in the kitchen
Fire in the hall
The train is coming
And you can hear it calling
You're always gonna be the wild one
Crack in the ceiling
Hole in the wall
They bend you over
But you won't crawl away
You've got two in the bushes
One in the hand
They'd make you over
But they can't understand you
You're always gonna be the Wild One
