I played this in front of my gf who loves this song and she was flipping out like, wtf is happening? She wanted to play the song from her phone to show me this isn't right 😂
Yesss I feel that so much. The original song is one of the most satisfying songs of all time the way everything comes together so smoothly. This version though, so frustrating. Thank god it only lasted 68 seconds
@@88popica I've seen this about a dozen times now and whenever I hear that song for real, it doesn't sound right. This just sounds so much better I think.
i'm a professional drummer so this is just killer....it's like one of those stereo 3d images, it's jarring at first, but then everything snaps into place... soooo groovy!
Was lookin’ for this one guy who posted a metric mod video of this about a year ago and couldnt find him BUT.... I found you and am very satisfied listening to you groove on this! All the best man! Greets from Croatia :)
Dude! I was digging deep to discover who came up with this trend and RUclips finally recommended your video to me. Such a healthy and inspiring "internet challenge", seeing the drumming community come together and collaborate on this has been amazing.
Yeah, I was wondering who started this trend too. I saw Aaron Spears, Sarah Thawer and Eric Moore got in on it. Glad to know where they got the idea from
I just found out this is not the first one to do this. Try searching "Evan Yester everybody wants to rule the world metric modulation". That one was uploaded a year ago
The thing that makes this difficult to play is not having the track minus the original drums. Hearing those drums against the metrically modulated groove you're playing is like hearing two keys at once.
I didn't listen to the song before.. I was like, where is the metric modulation in this.. then I listened to the original... it makes sense now... so smooth...
Bro lets get you the full credit. Post a youtube video that shows the time stamp of your original posting on Insta. People need to know who originally heard the modulation and constructed it. Anyone?

Would you mind explaining a bit I’m a music student and I love getting into niche concepts I understand metric modulation is making a note value the new beat but here I’m confused please break it down for me !!!!😂
The meter is 12/8 (or 12 8th notes). 12 is divisible by both 4 and 3. The original song divides the meter into 4 groups of 3 8th notes. This video divides it into 3 groups of 4 8th notes.

and she was right.. my brain hurts XD
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I love both versions about as much

Metric modulation is like a musical lifehack for INSTANT stank face.
Repetition legitimizes.
You have the cleanest version of this. *Under-appreciated*
Thanks!
True, i've looked
for me this version is also great: ruclips.net/video/4ZZjfNNYhNQ/видео.html

Haha, I figured it was about time to put it on YT. Glad you enjoy.
Please drop the full song I like this better than the original
Possibly my favourite one of these I've seen, actually sounds great with the song and vocals.
Yeah I agree, Eric Moore's version is really good too but it doesn't match the energy as much as this one does
This is so wonderful! It can be challenging to keep going with our own creative pursuits, but this is definitely an inspiration for my music.
Amazing sound dude. That snare is to die for!!! killer grooving too 🔥
It was this and Madden Klass that inspired me to try this too. Amazing work! Love love love the way you play 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥
Thank you :)
It made me try it out and post it so im glad you did it 😅 its crazy to hear all the different ways it can be played. No 2 have been alike so far.
I can’t stop watching this😫 ITS SO GOOD
Perfect execution! Good job! Love it!
This has taken over my social media feed. Well done.
You’re welcome.
Great capture of those drums, sounds really good.

Not that it matters, but I posted mine in December 2019 on Instagram.

imagine if this dropped on the radio in 85 😂 people would be so perplexed
It's a banger, brah. Daps
Daps, i like that.
This is great!
Cymbals sound amazing

They’re a 24 Istanbul Traditional Dark Crash and a 22 Xist crash.
Where can I down load this version of rule the rule to do my own cover???
Why, right here on RUclips of course.
Sometimes people do stuff just to see if they can and to say that they did.
Illuminati confirmed...

Haha ah man it’s all good. Just happy to know I started such a ridiculous trend lol.
Which version of the song is this please? I want to try this. It sounds like the bass is boosted or something
It’s just the drumless version.
Why this song for so many metric modulation covers in youtube?
80s fusion bands be like
GREAAAAAAAAT VERSION - what type of Agop are you use ?

@@eldowns perfect sound both

All I have to say is… WHY???
Ok
WTF?!
🙂
Subdivide dude...
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Clever, difficult, different, and sounds bad.
Nice.
I agree
Bro you gotta at least get to the 3 feel at some point
look up and you might see the point
molto male
This is impressive but not musical, sounds like just playing like a fancy pants.
My pants appreciate the compliment.
