You can't imagine the impact Sadé had when she first came out. Cool, seductive and unique. She was the total opposite of what was going on in the big hair, plastic bracelets, heavy make up mid 1980’s. A league all her own.

Amber is so on the money with her observations about Sade's music. It's so sensual and so often deeply emotional. I know that Jay has less of an affinity for slower, more subtle music, so good on him for giving these a go. Amber, keep diving deep into her catalog!
Jay has less of an affinity for music in general -- not just slow stuff. Amber is the feelings one, Jay is sort of the Pat Sajac host.

He has his roll, she has hers...we all have our own roll. They compliment one another very well. She's the brains, nothing wrong with that.
Sade came out of nowhere, established herself as a huge star - and then disappeared for years!....A voice of cool liquid velvet.
Yep...she got the best of both worlds...the stardom and fame without sacrificing her privacy. Very few superstar artists can achieve that.
I’m a white 63 yr old RUSH geek and I have listened to this song a BILLION times. Her band is so cool and she is a GOAT! “Is it a Crime” is another favorite of mine she’s so beautiful and cool. I don’t remember the movie but I was watching a David Bowie movie and suddenly she appears KILLING some intense song … I can’t say enough about how great she is❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Sade Adu is the singer and Sade is actually the band. They write the majority of their own material, and have been together for forty years. Saw them back in the early 90s at Roy Thompson Hall here in Toronto and it was the perfect evening. I would take her smooth and emotional voice over her contemporaries who performed vocal gymnastics for no real reasons. They record rarely, tour even less, but I recommend them to anyone.

She was a complete original in the 80s - voice, style, class, beauty. Top notch talent, musicianship, and songwriting. Nobody will ever occupy her space in pop/soul history. Her voice is an instrument all it's own.
My Dad always lowed her, so I grew up with Sade, and for me she is the epitome of cool, comfort vibe.
“Smooth Operator “ is one of my favorite songs by Sade! This one is another one I like! She sings so sultry and pure can’t help but love many more of her tunes!
Her band deserves a lot of credit as well. She's magnificent!

Sade is music for adults. Nothing smoother. Her concert video Lovers Live is one of my favorite full live shows, just pure professionalism and smooth Sade sound. Also I recall in the Movie Boomerang with Eddie Murphy, Eddie just raving on Sade. Eddie, I love her too.

You know you are a legend, when people just ask, "Do you like Sade?" Not, do you like jazz, soul, r+b, etc. She is her own genre. Pure silk in her voice. The instrumentation is an eargasm every time. It just hits you deep in the subconscious. It is a mood hijacker. Hence, just one word...Sade.
Her music is one of most pure expressions of what it means to be a human being. The music is bursting with life and authenticity. Most don't really get Sade until you learn to slow down, and just be present. A mature ear sound.

Sade's music is exceptional always. Every song is a pearl. For me though, it's "Soldier of Love". Apropos of the title, it's a march. I don't care for marches, but this one is so exact, so precise, so crisp...I fell in love right away. If you hear it, you'll get it.

Sade's music is considered smooth jazz, which was very popular in the 80s/90s. It's sort of a combination of lightweight pop/R&B/jazz. I can listen to it in moderation. Other artists included in that category would be Anita Baker, George Benson, Kenny G, Al Jarreau, and Bobby Caldwell.

Talk about smooth, this music practically created the "smooth jazz" radio format! Sade is one of my TOP THREE female singers of All Time!! The other two are Chaka Khan and Teena Marie. Sade is both the band's name and her nickname (I just like pointing that out, haha!)! SO MUCH GREAT MUSIC!! Next I'd recommend "Your Love is King", "When Am I Gonna Make a Living", and "Is It a Crime?"!
