Life in the Rice Terraces of the Philippines

- We are in the lush, green mountains of Barangay Bayyo, Bontoc where the picturesque rice terraces thrive and grow. For generations, the Ibayyo people hold a sacred relationship with the land that they live in, and we were fortunate enough to be invited by a local to witness the rice planting process from start to finish.
Khachiw, Tapuey, and Safeng-these are the treasures that await us on our journey. We’re going on an epic adventure with our host and guide, Tatay Dionisio, who generously shared the beautiful sights and flavors of his home with us on this once in a lifetime experience.

Love the ending punctuating the import dependent and export oriented nature of the Philippines. If only we could reverse that.
I would gladly purchase rice from the Philippines. 🤙🏽🙏🏽 🇵🇭🇺🇲
Unfortunately most rice if not all found outside of the Philippines that have tagalog or Filipino dialect on the packaging are grown and manufactured in Thailand. =( We sold our knowledge of growing and producing rice to Thailand which is why the Philippines imports more than they grow. It doesn't help that businesses promote Unli-Rice to bring clientele which brings on another scope of problems to the country.

These rice plots are disappearing more and more tbh. and all of them are being transformed into subdivisions. instead of flourishing these farmers and lands, they're poor and not even given proper payment with the efforts to make a living.
Read it's also partly our fault, we forced our equal inheritance laws on them. Apparently prior to that only the eldest inherit land. Since now it get split every generation, it has come to the point that the plots have become small and just barely enough for subsistence farming.
