  • A PPTC resettable fuse is a passive electronic component used to protect against overcurrent or overtemperature faults in electronic circuits. The device is also known as a multifuse / polyfuse or polyswitch.
    Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient devices which offer a resettable overcurrent protection alternative, thereby reducing service & repair costs. Ideal for situations where frequent over-current conditions occur or constant uptime is required, resettable PPTC are typically used in consumer electronics, power line, telecom, I/O port, process control & medical equipment protection applications.
    PPTCs increase resistance as temperature increases due to increased current flow. Designed to limit unsafe currents while allowing constant safe current levels, resistance will rest automatically when the fault is cleared and temperature returns to a normal levels.

    There is no need to connect the fuse. Just PTC is enough.

    can we use these where in put voltage is over 200 v

      Yes , but voltage rating should be 250v

    Wait, if you cause a short in the electric circle with your pliers the PPTC get high resistance and most/all current flows via the fuse which gets burnt. That is why the lamp gets shutt off. So the whole schematics is only partially resettable because after the reset you will miss the fuse 🤷
    That leads me to the question: what is the use for the fuse in this setup?

      I used a burnt fuse, all current pass through pptc, i used fuse to show how we can convert a conventional glass fuse into a self resettable fuse. We know that pptc can be fixed directly on pcb

      @@TARIQLAB OK, understand now better the whole setup, thank you.
      Btw., how fast does a PPTC reset? Is it necessary to disconnect the current, or does it automatically reset after it is cooled down?

    • @TARIQLAB
      @TARIQLAB  Месяц назад +1

      If short circuit occurs need to disconnect, if short open and power consumption very low then automatically reset when temperature increases

      He, i think i'm going to ad a swith to the pptc for cooling time 🤔 after shortcut... hum, no longer seeking the right fuse, 👍. Thanks for reminder ! FM🍀🌟

      Ye sirf fuse hai, jo supply ho usi hisaab se lagana hai, high voltage ke liye varistor lagta hai
