I hear all the birds in the trees, they're singing so happily, joyfully, oh playfully, watching...
That's a very Logical deduction.......sorry you had to wait 9 months🍻
That's Super! Tramp
I love how vinny was squeeking his chew toy in background ... he was trolling the guys that complain about the beeping every vid ... 😅😮😅
You’re crushing the content variety.
I'm glad he is one that will finish something unlike the other channels like his that never seem to finish anything.
I agree, you have a lot of good and interesting projects and you don't make us wait forever for a new one! The other guys suck because they seem to run out of steam and or ideas.
You keep the crazy train going full steam!
Hell yeah, he has proven time and time again that he does not back down from a challenge
@@BuckDuck69I call cap. I can recall many times he had to sell a bike cause it was out his pay grade. Dude had a mint 2007 cr125 and sold it cause he didn’t know how to replace a crank seal. This dude acts like he knows stuff but in reality he don’t.
Everything that he owns becomes clapped
This is very cool to watch, and somewhere out there some old person remembers riding these at a theme park or water world! Good work and excellent videos! Thank you for sharing...
That's a cool little getaway cruiser. You could use it a sa small eco tugboat...connect a flat bottom john boat to the rear with 2 tow straps. 3 friends...a cooler and fishgear.. maybe an extra 5 gallon gas can! And thats a party with a motor 🎉. I think its cool. Love tinkering with this stuff!
Not bad since they were made for kids to ride around lakes at parks at slow speeds . You did a good job .

You know someone really knows what their are doing when they don't know what a starter looks like especially when it dosent even have a electrical wire.
Nice job ...
He is crushing the variety for sure. Just a side note when you hear squeaky carburetor linkage and squeaky throttle lever time for a shot of WD-40, our savior......
That's an OMC powerhead. If your order service parts for a 1968 6 johnson or evinrude they will fit. Quick tip. Replace your points and condensers with OEM evinrude points and condensers kit "tune up kit" also thoes ignition systems are designed to run champion J6C
buy whaler 15 rañge 85 hp omc jet drive
You can go up and down the Mississippi and write a book those motors are that tough
Just learn the channel
I have a Evinrude 6 all I'm saying is I don't think he has the timing as advanced as it could be or it would be planeing that boat out
He might have the carb wide open but I don't think the timing is on fast
That motor isn't winding all the way up
. Also a 35 horsepower of that era has a problem that size that thing is way over propped that's the problem.. the propeller on a 6 horsepower Johnson or Evinrude is about 7 1/2 in
Water in the gearcase oil. Replace prop and shaft seal along with the gearcase seal. All parts easily available.
That little boat so cute ,very early version of a jetski
The sound of song birds, and a squeaky chew toy... nature at it's finest. 👌
That water pump is going to explode into a bunch of little pieces cause it's so old and hard lol
Haters got to hate
@fredcabor5258 your right I would hate to see him blow up that motor lol
@@fredcabor5258 guys a tool just like you
@@fredcabor5258it’s ok to be ignorant!
Nothing a 20 HP predator can't fix lmao that thing would rip with 4 times the HP!
Crazy how much stuff evolves. Looks like a cool lil boat, but needs more power
Well it was made for kids after all.
i remember riding these as bumper boats as a kid really slow boats i was dissapointed
Awesome work Joe. That motor is definitely down on power. I think it’s only running on one cylinder, I had a 5hp Evenrude of the same vintage and it reved significantly higher. It might be down tuned too, there were similar boats for theme parks that I’ve seen that had restrictive plates to make them only turn 2000 rpm or so when they should be at 6000 or so flat out. Also, an idea for the water outlet: instead of running the hose out and siliconing, you could bolt a barb fitting through the hole and connect the line to it.
yea needs a bigger motor
I had a geo metro, that came from factory with a 3 cylinder engine, drove it a year on 2 cylinders 😂....no wonder it had to be in 1st on a 10 degree incline...or any hill for that matter. Saved me some gas money! 😅 till my buddy said ... you need a new piston and head gasket....i said 200 its yours. He didnt buy it. Lmao!
if it have been used for rental or in a hollyday park, it will have been tuned down for safety.
just like you only get the learning key when you rent a jetski.
back then they just dident have learning key´s
those places would never get a insuriance if they let people go full speed (and you dont want to rent out anything with alot of power to drunk people on hollyday vacation)
and when they do that it is often ruff to the motor.
so if it have been used alot, it might have some damege from only running slow.
like getting a car from a old person, its starts gouing fatser when you ride it fast for a little time
i have an old 5 horse Johnson sea horse from 1946 and it pulls harder than that thing on an aluminum 12v haul with two people and a cooler. I agree with seanguaraldi2728 that motor is barley runnin. those 2 strokes need to open up to hit that pwr band. that tiny of a vessel with a 6 hp, or 5 should haul butt.
@@Hansen710 Tuned down or restricted in a way for sure. Could be an easy fix.
Fun little cruiser. Thinking engine swap🤔Thanks for the learning moment.
this is the first project i have seen on all of youtube where I think an electric upgrade would be awesome, more speed and reverse, plus no power would be an idle state.
Been looking forward to this one. I like watching old things come to life again. By the way, you are absolutely pumping out the content. Appreciate you a lot.
Yeah me too this is so old and so cool I love the boat
At 8:32 you dont need sealant to reinstall the leg. Its a machine fit. You will need sealant and spaghetti seal for the gearcase though to change seals as there is definitely water in the oil.
Loving the Vinny back ground effects. 😊
I love this your channel and that boat is awesome you have showed me so much i can now fix my bikes just though watching you thank you and love and respect from England
Has Vinnie got a new squeaky toy 😂
A powered kayak,sweet,that should be a keeper.
I remember these at the amusement parks. Not exactly built for speed.
Over 50 years old and watching this is literally one of the top 5 happiest moments of my life
Lol
lol why? Has your life been that bad?
Rough life huh
@@guttersnipe3246 Not for a while, she's only in her 40's
@@Day12My probably seeing one of these for the first time in a long while
I had a Saucer Boat similar concept to this but it had 14hp, and scary as hell cause you had to lean to steer it!….My father had a boat yard in the 70’s and that 6hp Johnson Twin Plugged motor should make that craft plane….I had the same on a 8ft inflatable and it flew….great vid and what a beautiful lake….
14 hp small boat flyees know
I saw mini jet boat in the title and I had certain expectations as far as performance goes. It's very cool, but it seems more like a 6 Flags kiddie ride than a jet boat. I like the homemade stand.. .maybe bigger wheels would make it easier to move. She still seems like a fun collectable vintage vehicle.
It's not a jet boat it doesn't have a jet drive it's got a prop
Any marina will have the gas tank you need. Just get an old round one not sure if I saw a primer bulb in the video but if you need it get it.
7:19 *Squeek Squeek* (Vin has entered the chat).
The one I remember from my parents cabin had pretty much the same engine and seemed to go a lot faster
“Jet boat” put it in my head this thing would rip, despite the 6hp engine. It does not rip through the water, however, it’s still very cool.
31 minutes in.Awesome, awesome, awesome. I hope you closed the lid so I can hear what sounds like with the fiberglass trunk lid Hood thing down
Needs a banshee engine hooked to the thing tht makes it go
Throw a little axle and Harbor Freight balloon wheels on the stand for rolling around.
Exilerator I believe has a 2 seater and 4 seater. Plus easier to work on !
Neat little boat and very informative video! One of the very first jet skis!
that's cool and all but i think it needs a K20 boosted🤣
then the fun begins
Nice little fishing boat
That would be cool with a modern jet ski motor in it
lol hell i thought joe was gonna have to swim after it when he started it lol
Awesome! Another vintage odd unique save! Again, I really dig when you save these type of old school beauties. Well done, Joe!!
I believe from the sound that it was only running on 1 cylinder. Pull each plug wire to test.
That is a cute little ride-on 1960's boat. It looked a little front-heavy, like it was riding a few inches low in the front and plowing water. I would put a 10-12 hp Kawasaki or Honda four-stroke engine in it, beef up the engine mount area and experiment with adding some rear ballast weight (a round iron 20-30 lb. barbell disc in the bottom of the gas tank well?) and when I got it to where it planed with the rear an 1 - 2 inches lower and the front 2 inches higher, I would epoxy-coat (rino-liner, tuff-guard, etc.) it to rustproof it. And with the added speed and plane angle the rear rudder might need to be reduced to around 1/2 as large; I would experiment by making an aluminum collar for the steering shaft and then test various size bolt-on rudders until it turned fast at full speed but not too fast for safety. Then I'd tig weld the rudder to the hub, put it together with a stainless bolt and nylock and build another one as a spare. Finds like this little boat from the past and restomodding them with upgrades, add-ons, adjustments to the mechanicals, electrical, fuel delivery system, etc. while keeping the original look and vibe are the BEST...they're a little bit of a challenge, interesting, historical, they take some engineering, some creativity, good ol' wrenching, they're fun and useable and enjoyable when they're finished.
My cousin had one that I got running. Great for kids
That is a cool little boat good vid always entertaining and informative
IF you had laid that prop unit on it's side when you took the fill adaptor out you would not have lost a drop whu do people not think these days
You have to remember that he is filming and he has to consider camera angles and such.
Make sure the outlet hose is pumping out or you'll fill the hull with water.
Hey No Wake!! 😜😃🤣😂. Love it!! 👍👍👍👍
Very kool boat. Great for kids
The things barely even running at idle speed. Still needs to be tuned I know they're detuned because most of them were used at kidsparkz but if that motor is tuned properly it should actually get that thing up on plane might need a different prop
Nice ! Fun for kids of all ages lol.
Looks like you're getting the same smoke from Canada that we are in Northern Michigan.
It's hard to believe you didn't change that water pump while the lower unit was off. Lol
To be honest that old one is still good and better then these new ones that wont last a year or two.
You’re not only really good with small engines , you find some of the coolest stuff made in the off roading industry. Amazing finds and repairs. Keep up the great job !
Have you seen mustie1? If not you would dig it.
@@dustinh4175 mustie1 is great!
We had one when I was a kid in the 70's. It was a lot faster than this. I would ride in a circle then swing out and come back across the waves and bounce across them. I think the top speed may have been 15-20mph. Another faster than this one.
I remember my neighbor had one of those. I seemed like his was a lot faster.
I’m gonna need one of those
Good video. Wouldn’t call it a jet boat since it uses a lower unit and prop unless you’re referring to the shape of the boat. Love the variety of videos. Keep them coming.
The perfect base to make it a jet boat though.
Its a jet boat with the venturi mounted around the prop. Later on they moved the venturi up inside the hull into the configuration most are familiar with today. Likely after dealing with all the damage from running them aground cracking the hulls around the hard mounted lower ends and snapping off rudders.
In that form though they should have been much more fuel efficient then the insane models we have today. A 50 to 70 MPH jet ski is great fun until you take a toss and hit the water.
Best!
@@neilfromclearwaterfl81 that by no means is a jet drive in any way, shape or form. It has no impeller, no bowl, no nozzle. That boat is powered by a traditional outboard motor, with a propeller that simply has a prop guard cast onto the lower unit for safety purposes.
@@Cradletothegrave67 Back then with the venturi at that length they were considered jets while a prop guard was much shorter. I remember those days very well. I understand it doesn't fit the model you kiddies go by today but back then Popular Mechanics and Mechanics Illustrated (I subscribed to both along with Popular Science) presented them as mini-jet boats with an external jet due to the longer tube.
Best!
Thats not a jet drive ore a prop guard.. its a prop nozzle that makes the prop more efficient and makes more torque 🙃
I'd paint er fire engine red! And name er, Torpedo!! Woo dog. Dat machine flys!!
Looks like as much fun as mowing the yard.
You can probably take that gas engine off or out of there and replace it with an electric one and you could probably get a lithium/ion battery that doesn't weigh too much, but anyway that electric motor may push it a little faster, well depends on what size electric motor you can get, you may be able to find a good used one, looks to me like one of those electric one's from a kayak might work on that, I don't know? Just a thought...
Think a set of balloon tires on your boatstand would make life a little easier to move it around ,,,my 2 cents 😉
I bet it could be modified into something a little more peppy . It needs to be up out of the water a few more inches at the minimum . Could you imagine if you got hit with even just a tiny wake . If you didnt roll over if would sink from taking on 20 gallons of water in 1 shot...Still pretty co0ol to see what we doing back then with thus stuff
Cool little boat 😊
Boat looks great! Now it needs a 20 or 25 hp engine.
what we need 60 foot suñe seaker 2000 hp 2 1000 hp jets
I think you need to find another one and have a race with em . Maybe name em Alfalfa & Darla .
They don't make anything easy to work on.
@28:11 🐶 😂
If the engine is toast but is vertical shaft. Could you throw a 10hp lawnmower type engine in it & make a coupler to connect the prop. Then no need for a water cooling pump. Add a quiet exhaust/muffler and vented hood cover for air flow. If 10hp is too big to fit use smaller engine with hi hp parts.
Looks like a WAY better design would have been regular style boat engine in the rear with a tilting prop.
looks like one of them stay close to the shore type crafts incase ya gotta swim back to shore?! 🤔👍
That engine has little compression and im shocked it runs at all.that boat flys with a good motor in it.
Definitely only running on one cylinder, killing total power, otherwise very cool. Have to decide on whether to do a full ignition tune up for around 75 bucks is worth it. I'd expect at the very least 10 mph with that motor. Nicely done as usual Joe 👍
Lol that is as fast as they go.
I feel thw same thing, having running OK is another world
I've got an early 6hp and it should go way way better than that. If mine can move 4 people in a 12 foot tinny then your boat should fly
@@volvogt21exactly…that is a planing hull, granted it is a little overloaded !
@volvogt21 they don't go any faster lol.
Its gotta get enough power to plain out, That thing would be a blast then,
Need a 2 stroke 125 engine and a modern jet. That thing would rip!
Good times. I had a vintage evenrude and couldn’t get it to run on both cylinders. It had a broken reed which was stainless. Put in a used replacement and it ran great 🎉
It looks cool. I'll give it that.
Love this beaut Joe,looks like a rippa!👌👊🦾🦾🦾
Ya I thought it would have going faster than that but I guess you really don't whont it to go fast with kids it's still pretty cool
I know that craft isnt meant to go very fast but you have to something to make it fast enough to be fun not speed boat fast but just enough to make it fun to drive.
That's really groovy and far out in a hip and happening way. Needs some 60's flower power art.
Back To the Futiure , needs a bigger Flux Capacitor !
Hope that throttle cable doesn't get caught in notches in Flywheel
Looks like a former theme park ride.
That is really cool !!!
What a cool little boat great job 👍
I used to have a jet boat with about 800hp. It was faster than your boat.
Put a new moter in it should be a blast
Add a three prong prop,it will go much faster!
Hey, I see you took my advice on the watercraft shoes. Nice! They will serve you well at the lake.
I'm not sure about the gastank. Think that a pressuretank will make a difference. And someone mentioned lack of one cylinder. I agree, 5-6 hp will do better than this. My 2,3 hp is faster. But it's a really funny project though.
Have a nice summer
That throttle cable will not last long rubbing on the engine as I'm sure you are aware.
You never got it on plane and only appeared to be getting less than half throttle. You probably need to get the idle and high speed jets adjusted better on the carburetor and perhaps should check that it has the correct pitch prop on it. What oil mix were you using? Back then the mix was a lot heavier than whats commonly used today. How did the reeds look on the intake. Often the petals on the reed plate can get rusted badly enough half don't open and those that do won't seal very well. The reed plate likely needs to be removed, cleaned and polished to get the best seal possible. While its possible its a reedless design I don't believe they were that common back in the 1960's.
After all these years it is also possible they switched the prop to whatever they had available after the last event where they grounded it and broke off the rudder which appears to have multiple weld repairs done on it. You may need a prop with a little less pitch if the engine is running correctly and can't get it to plane.
Best!
Vintage right I like it
KEEP UP THE different vlogs they are so interesting to watch...Have good one from Australia...💯🇦🇺...
as much fun as anybody could have, at 5 knots per hour. Where's VINTAGE!?
With the final drive and the rudder hanging down underneath like that it's so impractical to transport it seems to me might better off trying to figure out a way to hang a trolling motor off the back of it and put the battery were the engine is for ballast.
Sounds like you need to adjust a carburetor and lean it out you can get some more RPM out of it and
Sorry I don't have good service make sure both sets of points are clean all the parts for that engine cheap keep up the great work really enjoy your videos
It would be a great jet ski for kids that's for sure but sad to say nowadays the government has ruined any fun for kids and would be illegal for them to ride... This definitely shows the good ol days before everything became everything and when people could just live their lives without anyone judging or banning kids from having fun! Great video joe! You definitely make the name 2vintage live up to you're channel I'm so lucky I found this channel about a year ago just because I watch mustie1 and somehow the RUclips algorithm puts you in that same great raw footage of the RUclips world! Keep it up man and hopefully you'll get to a million subscribers one day!💪 (Even though with this kind of content being posted three times a week or more, you should have gotten there by now) but I guess people like to watch the stupid channels... What a shame people need to watch more of these kind of videos!👍💪
You ever take that off any sweet jumps?
You got the first snapper lawnmower on water
Cart could use some bigger pneumatic tires.

Joe, you should try to find one of those mini speed boats with a 20- 30 hp outboard on it ! Everyone loves speed lol. I'm going to look for a couple soon for my grandkids. I think they will love those ! Excellent video !
@scott, those boats aren't rated for outboard motors.
Yeah, I grew up with them in the late 70's and 80's. We called them Hydroplanes. Even with a Mercury 9.9 hp they would go 35 or 40 mph. They still sell kits for them. Put a 20 hp on one and it will go 50 mph or better.
