A memory of this cartoon wandered into my mind last night; I'd completely forgotten about it. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with memories of this precious film.
I have this on VHS somewhere...I taped it off of CBC back around Christmas 1991...it was such a great holiday special...I wish it would air on network TV again. :)
This show brings so many memoeries back, just like Noel the cartoon thanks for adding this one , it was great to watching it again, trying to find the 80's christmas cabbage patch kids christmas special and no luck.

I got it for Christmas when I was 3 years old (I'm 21 now), and as I had just figured out how to work the VCR player at the time, I ejected it and lost it. I was beginning to think it was a figment of my imagination... but IT'S NOT!!
@ohiostatefan0133 I believe it was called "A Very Merry Cricket" it used to be one of my favorite videos to watch. I think Blue Toes was on the same tape as "Cricket"
Thank you thank you, you have no idea how much this helped me and my sister. this was a family favorite i havent seen in over 14 years and it helped bring back memories of our childhoods.

That's very cool. I didn't realize the cartoon was based on a book, but I just looked it up. I hope your dad would have liked the animated version of his work, as I'm sure you do. It helped create some great Christmas memories for us kids of the 80s, so you two should be proud.
This brings back so many memories. You wouldn't happen to remember a movie made by the same people (I'm pretty sure it was) about a christmas cricket in NYC who is taken in by two animals (I think cats) and he plays music with his wings?
