- Ivy, an orphan wants a grandmother and a doll for Christmas. She mistakes a sign greeting her into a town, she jumps off a bus and shouts, "It's me, Ivy!". In the cold she looks for a grandma unsucessfully. She finally finds a woman who always wanted children and a doll, Holly. Based on the book The Story of Holly and Ivy.
I remember this when I was 5 years old, maybe younger, thanks for putting this up, every second I watch this, memories come flooding it, another thianks
this cartoon makes me wanna go up in my attic, bring down my old porcelian dolls and hug them XD
This makes my heart sink with sorrow such a beautiful story.
I looooooved this movie when i was little. I still have it on a old recorded vhs. Wish it would come out on dvd with other 80's /90's cartoon specials.

I have this on VHS when it came on for a McDonalds special for Christmas. Comes on right after a Claymation Christmas
The book this is based on, The Story Of Holly And Ivy, was one of my most favorite books as a kid--I couldn't say how many times I read it. I had NO idea until just a few minutes ago while reading the Wikipedia article for the book, that it had been adapted into a TV special. It may have been because they changed the title, so I just didn't make the connection.
I'm pretty sure that stupid owl is at the center of all my adult fears and anxieties.

So the old crow couldn't take the child with her to visit her sister? Then she makes her travel alone! What a witch!

That owl, he reminds me of that owl Scowl from the movie Happily Ever After....another classic.

Awww shoot I've been looking for this for awhile! Ronald McDonald hosted the Christmas special on CBS. The owl was so mean but used to have us crackin' up. My mom recorded it but it got lost. *memories* Thanks for the upload..

Dude, we all owe you one for posting THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER here! I have it more than one time on tape, but what´s the use of it if you don´t have a functionating (or is it "functionable" ? I´m from Germany, so my english skills aren´t perfect at all... ^^;) VCR? :-(
