me too. I watched it with my son on the family channel, when they showed all the good Christmas cartoons. I'm looking for one I watched when i was little called The night the Animals talked.
Thank you so much for posting this! I watched this when it originally aired as a 7 year old, enjoyed it, and kept it in mind after all of these year. However, after watching it again as an adult, I actually had tears in my eyes--such a deep message for a children's cartoon! I look forward to sharing this with my own kids some day :)

Thanks for posting this! I couldn't for the life of me remember what the story was about (I was only 4 when this came out) but I had a vivid memory of talking ornaments and a man setting up a train set around a Christmas tree.

I remember this too.. When I was a child.. I had a tree that puts together and apart and we put up the red glass balls and my mom would say to us we got a lot of Noels.
18 Days Till Christmas, I Just Love Christmas, and On Christmas Eve, I would have a bowl of oyster stew, and watch 24 hours of "A Christmas Story" on TBS.
This special has the same cast and crew from "Thundercats". Both the animation is done by Pacific Animation, the music by Bernard Hoffer, and the voices of Peter Newman and Earl Hammond can be heard.

A real classic at our "people-things box" hey, to md12ster, can u post it in all one part? since you-tube took off the time limit. after remembering our book, and not finding it, i was googling to find Noel pic to make his face on red ornaments. My daughter was going to record herself reading the book and giving out ad dvd of it and the ornament to friends:)

+Robert Dubs You are absolutely right, I checked up on the Christmas Special Wiki that this Christmas Special took place in the 1940's. Lucky guess right there. :)
I always assumed the son went to Vietnam. I thought 1946 would be a good starting point for the story --- the parents and the house are practically a visual homage to It’s A Wonderful Life, which was released Christmas of that year.
@laniespencerbitch I have searched the likely places of my house and not found it... siimply called Noel. and the edition we had is a Little Golden Book .The author has had other stories made into cartoons as well but his name escapes me at the moment. . The ornament in the book is definetely red, not purple. but I am sure your ornament is a treasure as well :)
