I'm in tears. I watched this with my mother when I was very little, possibly 2 or 3. I remembered the ornaments, and when he broke. I only just now found out the name of the movie and instantly found your videos of it. my mother passed away in June of 2012, and this just flooded me with amazing memories of my mother. Thank you so much for posting this. I haven't cried this much in a long time. I needed this.
@oxleymations No wonder it made me cry as a child (besides him being forgotten, and then breaking). I never realized until now how profound the message was. Noel's body breaks (he "dies"), then finally "sees God" (the Nativity), then his spirit ("the happiness") lives on and can travel all around the world, seeing more happiness. Fitting and poignant that this was Romeo Muller's last Christmas special after writing timeless classics like "Rudolph" and "Frosty the Snowman."
thank you so much for posting this! it really brought so much joy to me because I loved this movie as a kid & never saw it ever again. Today I decided to go on youtube & look for it, (because almost EVERYTHING is on youtube) & i found it!!! brought back so many memories!!! & I even have a red ornament ball that I call noel!!!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I love this cartoon. In middle school I even made Noel's for my friends. I'm a grown woman now and it still makes me laugh and cry
I watched this as a kiddo back in the day and even had the coloring book to go with it. It has been years since i've watched it. Thanks a bunch for uploading it, brings back fond nostalgic memories :)
THANK YOU. I have looked for this for years! This was one of my favorite Christmas "movies" as a child and I can finally share this with my own children. Bless you for uploading this!
hey christinne, i posted on someone else's post. I was able to find a less expensive copy of this movie in dvd on sell.com for $20. This movie is so rare that even the vhs' are going for like $50 to $75. It was one of mine and my brother and sisters favorites when we were younger. I bought 3 as a surprise gift for them. .. and one for me so my children when I have them can see it... here ia the link if you want to see if you are able to get one www.sell.com/247K25 Merry CHRISTmas :-D
I used to watch this four or five times every Christmas when I was little (we had it on VHS) and then the tape got lost. I haven't seen it in probably 10 years. Thanks so much for posting it!
Thanks for posting this up. I watched it everytime on ABC Family back when it still aired. Ever since watching as a teenager i couldn't but think "all our ornaments like Noel?" Thanks once again. You brung back some wonderful memories.
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for uploading this! All my life I've had this mysterious memory of a red ornament cartoon I saw when I was super little, that was one of the first movies I ever remember making me cry. I wasn't sure it would have the same effect when I started watching it and it seemed so silly, but man it really does get poignant doesn't it! Greatness.
I just HAD to thank you for posting this!! I've been looking for it for so long..it seems it touched my heart even more than it did when I was a child..My eyes and my heart started crying when Noel broke to pieces and his happiness tear was left on the floor and could see the stable..
One of the best Christmas cartoons!! My sister and I used to own this cartoon on a VHS tape. I really miss seeing this during the holidays. Thank you so much for posting.
thank you so much for posting this man I havent seen this cartoon since I was 9 or 10 at the ending scene I had such a rush of nostalgia that I litterally started crying with joy thank you so very much for giving me back those memories and god bless the creators of this animation for me it truely captures the spirit of christmas from a childs point of view and now just like noel I to have a happiness and it goes to show that even though christmas is over we can still feel the love in our hearts
thanks so much for posting this cartoon! it's one of my favorites as a child & i can't find this movie anywhere! I absoulty love christmas I would watch christmas movies throughout the year.
I remember this cartoon, I loved watching it as a kid back in the nineties. But there was always something that confused me, for a cartoon with the title "Noel" you would think they would play the actual song Noel, don't get me wrong I love "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" but I just thought it would make sense to have the song Noel playing in a movie called Noel. Anyone else notice that also?
You do realize the reason why the ornaments are so miserable, except for noel, is because they don't have souls. The trees did, and I'm willing to bet the 'happiness' is noels soul like at the end. but all the other ornaments are soulless and feel no joy because of it.
Happiness has nothing to do with death. The point of the story is that Noel had a happiness, and the others did not. Noel respected and enjoyed the season, the others did not. I really don't understand how people can take a classic like this and turn it into something negative. Life happens, it's not all butterflies and rainbows. Enjoy the story for what it is, not what you think you can make out of it.
I had the coloring book. I don't remember Noel becoming a spirit (pure, unadulterated happiness, whatever). He just died and that was it. I thought it was frightening.
I'm glad a lot of people get to see what's probably fond childhood memories, but I have to ask: I get that real trees have a limited shelf life, but is waiting until Christmas Eve to decorate your tree a common thing? Also, how does a generic red ball earn the love of not only one, but two kids?
Adverbingly It's not as common a thing as it might have been, but some people still practice it. I'm unsure of the time period the cartoon was set in but seems like the late 1930's, as one of the original kids is depicted as going off to war. It was a very common practice in those times, as well tree stands didn't hold water so their lifespan in a house was very short! As for the kids and the ornament, I can only imagine his 'happiness' attracted them, made Noel stand out much more than the other ornaments who were all kind of depicted as overly grouchy.
PAPA GOD sent HOLY GHOST down into my heart when I asked Him in the name of JESUS! That was Christmas Eve 1972! I woke up Christmas Morning Born Again! HALLELUJAH! As I followed on to know the LORD, Holy Ghost brought me JOY unspeakable and full of glory! 1 Peter 1:8! This cartoon shows JESUS in the manger, but it didn't emphasize that JESUS is the reason we can receive this JOY! He came at Christmas, to die on Good Friday...to shed His Blood and wash our sins away! Then JESUS rose again on Easter to justify us! St John 3:16! 💗 JESUS is coming again SOON to carry His Church away! We'll live with Him FOREVER! HALLELUJAH!

5:12 “The wonder of wonders, little Noel had become the pure joy of Christmas. He would live on forever in the happy hearts of all mankind.”
