I love the fact they're doing this line. My issue is pricing on these. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they're too pricey. If these were in the $180-$220 range, I'd be all in. I agree with you about the clothing being too clean, as well. You're right, the universe, especially this subset of characters, need to be dirty and worn.

Jedha, A tactic Sideshow often now uses is setting the edition size higher than their first run they intend to produce then later maybe produce the rest IF they think the demand is there. So if the edition size was set at 1000, maybe they only produced 600 but now they think they can sell more. I think that is what is happening with that Probe Droid.

Would I prefer these to be cheaper? Yes. Are these figures going to save me a ton of money because I won't need to go to the secondary market? Absolutely yes. Tatooine and related scum and villainy are my top 2 collecting focuses. I'm absolutely here for this entire run. Maybe they should be weathered more. But to me I sort of like that they come across as a bit toy-etic. I'm not good at posing at all, so figures that can basically stand there are also fine for me. So maybe I'm a niche customer haha

It's the same price gouging that everyone else is doing using the fake poor economy excuse. The best way to reduce prices is not to buy. Walmart and Target started reducing their price gouging recently because people stopped spending.

I think comparing to a hot toys trooper isn't really fair. So much of that figure is reusing existing molds.
$180 tops. These are cool, but nowhere near worth the price.

I am actually ok for greedo being clean since he did look quite clean in anh. He’s a bounty hunter working for JABBA and he’s probably mot seen much action anyway.
And greedo’s head is much much better proportioned than the first version they made

Im excited for this line, but that price...That's $275, plus tax, plus ship, (more if you live in another country)...$350 each figure. I would be worried that Hot Toys releases their own Greedo, I just dont think they'll do other characters.

He's a damn hypocrite. Promotes pop collectables heavily (no issues with that) but on his FB group he or his mods like delete people's post or even go as far as ban them when they talk about Sideshow stuff. Yet here he is talking about Sideshow stuff because he needs to stay relevant and needs the views.

I got the notice for the Probe Droid as well. The price had me saying no. I think HT is not letting anything say stock because they wont let you use a lot of coupons or discounts.

I remember when Sideshow figures were $140 to $180. Of course that was more than 15yrs ago!
In my opinion.. their figures haven't gotten better since then. Therefore the $280 price tag isn't justifiable!
I have old SSC Greedo and is still similar as new one. So maybe i will not go for it, but others yes. And about Jabba's guards and scum i have to see them and price and decide what to do and which to buy and see final price. But remember that SSC makes small runs to sell all so "get it now" or "cry for ever and ever..." And we have to note that shops, even SSC increases the price for more benefits!

Yeah they did the same with Han Solo in carbonite. I was on the Waitlist and it said “purchase” I clicked it, it now says pre order.
These Sideshows villains are cool, no doubt about it. However, for what you get, Sideshows asks a little too much. Myself, I do not collect them, so I do not care much about them. However, at that price, they should be ready to go out of the box and fit into their movie environment. That means high-quality bodies and movie-accurate weathering. As they are, a fair price max might be 150-170 USD IMO.
Not sure they will be discounted though. For people with the matching field of collecting, they are highly desireable. So they might be gone before you blink.
I think you're right - too expensive for the quality - I'll stick with the 1/12th of baba and doc and Greedo
Sideshow plays the reissue game often. Nothing new. They might have an exclusive item that’s numbered or limited, but they reissue figures all the damn time.

They did the same thing with the Mythos statues Maul and Ventress are back for preorder. Did they make half the run then doing second half?
280 bucks for these are really steep. At least throw in a decent looking diorama base and more accessories. Bare to the bone offering for a figure with really simple costumes for 280 bucks and that recycled black display base. Yikes
I had the same experience with the SS Han in Carbonite. I believe that if they gather enough names in the waitlisted, enough to cover the cost of another run…they will do another small run.
Probe Droid PF, Sideshow has done this before. They will set an edition size, but based on sales may not product the entire batch. They may only produce 500, leaving them the option to produce the the remaining 500 later down the road if they feel the demand is still there.
Sideshow does this from time to time with some of their product. I see their R2-D2 and C-3PO 1/6 figures go through that roller coaster of being for purchase and then pre-order and back and forth.
I have even seen them do that with products from other companies. The Trick or Treat Studios 1/6 Tarman, Book of the Dead prop, and others.
I have the Probe Droid and I remember it waitlisted shortly after I ordered it. I really like it and I saw the new pre-order and thought that’s strange. At first I thought it was something new. I’ll have to see if mine is numbered on the bottom.
I would get them for $100 each and outside of that it's a hard pass

On the PF Probe Droid, the same exact thing happened with the PF Thor Breaker of Brimstone statue. I ordered and received mine a year earlier and it was listed as sold out. Then it was relisted as a pre-order. Are they double-dipping on the edition numbers? Did they short production for lack of initial orders then bring it back once secondary market prices indicated additional interest? I wish SS and HT would be far more transparent as this stuff makes them look a little sketchy...

12 figures x 280USD = 3,360USD. YEP. A lot of money but getting them during 1.5-2 years. SSC releases figures too slow, so you have time to save money and get all of them or many of them. I don't think SSC will release all of them (12 figures) in months or in 1 year...even with rush...
I just sold my Greedo and Zuckuss two weeks back. Never thought they’d go back to the OG figures.
I’d rebuy them if they were $150. I’m done spending $300+ on figures. Which means I probably out the game. Only figure I’d buy Savage and Ventress if ever released.
This will be a nice add to surround Jabba The Hutt's Throne; I am still trying to make that purchase. The pricing is a toss-up, but I'm still looking forward to purchasing. Agree with points made of Greedo and Poba being too clean, and definitely weathering will help. Great video commentary.
As far as the probe droid goes, could it be that everyone passed on the wait listed item(s), and they put those up as pre-orders? I'm just guessing, but that might be it.
A bit late to this, but I have the original run of Scum and Villainy Bounty Hunters and they still hold up pretty well.

So this happened with my EFX Bo Katan helmet it was converted and then I went to look at the helmet on sideshow and it said they had some for purchase after my waitlist. Maybe a short run left glad u said something I was able to pre order

I hate to see it. It just C-blocks hot toys doing these characters anytime soon. It’s why we had to wait a decade for C-3PO. Sideshow doesn’t cut it. Their offerings should be half the cost.
I'm glad they are expanding the characters. I thought I was done with Star Wars figures unless Hot Toys final released the Death Star Commander figure they've previewed for 7 years or a Bespin Han. But the price is ridiculous. I definitely want some of these figures. We will see.
As you said good idea releasing these figures, if hot toys isn’t going to make them. However, pricing is a it to much for these considering they don’t bring much accessories or second head sculpt! And yes the clothing looks to clean. Price should be 180.00 to 200.00 tops! I’m interested in Greedo the most but I can wait for it to be in the super sale they do when stuff doesn’t move. Plus they gave up on the Clone War Animated Line, which I thought was a cool line to do! They should stick to Statues, those look much better. If they want to give us diorama sets for the 1/6 scale figures let them focus on that!
So my guess is Squid head/Tessek, 1st Klaatu/Green Nikto with hat/helmet and darker tunic, Maybe a human guard or a Weequay, Bib Fortuna, Either Red Nikto or maybe Barada, maybe Mon Cal but not Ackbar, and 2nd Klaatu Skiff guard with the lighter outfit?
And yeah the prices are ridiculous. HT prices but not HT quality. But hey, HT seem to have used Inart as an excuse to not just charge more for Artisan, but to raise prices across the board. Chopper sure doesn't come with heaps of accessories like R2, but he'll cost you over 400 bucks AUS!
My issue is it's Sideshow, quality isn't there, price is too high. I'd rather wait for a snowballs chance in hell that Hot Toys would eventually release Greedo when they run out of re-release and new Star Wars characters.

It’s great Sideshow are making these, but yes to clean and to expensive!! Will probably pick up the ones i really love like Greedo but definitely not all of them.

I am not impressed with Sideshow Collectible 1/6th scale figures got a Gambit don't get me wrong looks awesome glad I own it but it's cheap glad I picked it up for Less than 150$ after discounts. Though I still do buy my Hot Toys figures through them lol. These will be a pass just because of my experience maybe if they go on heavy discount like the Gambit 1/6th scale did but not at 280$

Sideshow figures are about $75 over priced, across the board. I get them Pre-owned on eBay. I do have the Cad Bane on Pre-order though, that's it...
Did you only want the probe droid because it was limited? If not, I see no issue with pre-ordering it since you missed out the first time if wanted it and missed it the first time I would be happy that it’s getting an issue.
I wanted it because I thought it might look nice in my collection.

I sat on the fence for about 12 hrs before I gave in and PO'd Greedo. Not gonna bother with the rest. It was the glass of blue milk that made me order. LOL.

These are definitely marketed to the diehard OT fans who want every character they saw on screen and have money to burn. For everyone else its an easy pass. These are just a rip off and anyone who thinks Greedo is worth $280 has taken a whole lot of copium. HT figures like AOTC Anakin went for that price and Hono's Wolverine was $160.

Yeah I wouldn’t even hold my breath for Greedo. Hot toys doesn’t take those chances anymore when making obscure lesser known characters from their movie licenses.
@@luism4822 I really doubt it. Greedo at the most but even then I’d say he’s a stretch. The market for these isn’t that big to warrant versions from multiple companies.
Could Snaggletooth be in the shadows? i hope so. I hate the price. Too high. Being a fool, i will pre_order Greedo, then i am done! ..unless Snaggletooth happens, and i will be two deep. Then i'm done! ^_^ ..i am lucky, when it comes to Star Wars 1/6 figures, i tip my toes in, and that's it! - I know some hardcore fans will have no choice but to 'Collect'Em All!' ;D

Totally agree sideshow is under quality and overpriced but sadly I’ve been so beaten down by hot toys and their armour fetish that I’ve been crying out for somebody to raid the riches of aliens and droids so I do have to buy all of these, no matter the cost. I was hoping for some unlicensed vendor to sneak them out at a fraction of the price but I can’t keep on waiting on that. Now if somebody would just give us some rebel troops too…
WAY over-priced. OT is my main SW focus, so I am in their prime target group. For 280, it should come with expert weathering and/or several more accessories. I'll be waiting for heavy discounts.

@@mpi5850 have you owned sideshow figures though. I have and they look good but they’re often cheaply made. All mine have crappy joints. And their Grievous was a disaster. For almost $300 I hope these don’t have those problems
