I definitely recommend the chest protectors from Alpinestars. I've got the A-10 and it's awesome because it doesn't have that fishnetting that all other MTB armour seems to have that makes you get crazy hot when you ride so even in the summer the A-10 never made me overheat.
The added bonus is it has hard plastic protectors for your ribs which I've not seen on other MTB armour.

I like Endura shorts and pants. They have the padded liners that click into the waistband of the shorts/pants making them work as a single, integrated unit. I don't like the feeling of my shorts shifting and sliding around against the liner.
But you can still remove the liner and swap it out which is nice if you are riding multiple days in a row. You can re-wear the shorts without washing them but still have a fresh liner. But Endura stuff is definitely in the premium price range (unless you grab end-of-season clearance stuff).
But for helmets, I'm 100% dedicated to the TLD Stage. I don't even own a 3/4 shell anymore. I just wear the full-face Stage for all my rides. It's so light and balanced, it just doesn't even feel like a full-face. And why not just wear a full-face all the time? You can eat dirt on any trail at any time.

Beginners should start with anything from Target that isn't cotton. They can move to spandex after their soccer shorts get caught on their seat and they go OTB.
Once they learn how to use their dropper post, they can follow your guide which is perfect for those who want to maintain credit card debt.
If they grow up and start a family, they will end up at Target buying diapers. That's when they will realize those soccer shorts and cheap tops are actually perfect for MTB riding. #fullcircle

Any reason you prefer recording at a higher framerate? I know its easier to grab stills from, but makes the footage very choppy. Try 30fps at 1/60 shutter! That's how you get that professional quality motion blur that you see in the movies! Very pleasing to watch! (24fps at 1/50 shutter is the other option video guys love). Also, I agree with the Troy Lee fit. Def my favorite main stream brand! Cant find some of their dope jerseys for cheap too.

3:39 Ride Concepts has much better toe protection. But so far I've not tried any shoes that are actually my size, 11cm wide 42 length. I use 44. I wear Ride Cocept Tallac in the summer for breathability, only con with them is they make clack clack sounds when walking. TNT for spring, autumn, winter when it's not wet snow, rain and puddles.
4:38 Freerider is awful, it's too flexy, lacks damping, where as Ride Concepts has a proper mid sole but so does Five Ten Trailcross, I have the GTX version, but the toe protection is awful.
I've not tried the new Endura MT500 waterproof shoes yet, but will when they get in stock.
The Northface Multicross GTX have a nice design, proper toe protection too, but the sole is absurdly stiff, so horrible to walk in, barely any flex up wards. But they are insulated, I'm sure I could ride n -20C if I wanted to. But it does not get that cold here, But they did well in -10C did not need second pair of wool socks.
But ankle, heel area was unusually roomy, so too big for me in the rear, and that was with ankle braces. But gaiter fit with Space Brace 2. But without it's too roomy. They rear of the shoes were so roomy I needed the braces to use them. but I need 44 for the width. But not tried a smaller size, but don't think I can use that.

This should be titled “what wannabe downhillers should wear”. I’ve been riding mtb since the 90’s and I’ve seen fashion come and go. Today it’s “look like an ipa drinker from Portland” out on the trails. I especially enjoy it when riders show up at xc trails in full pads. With their baggy clothes. Like bro, what do you think these trails are? Personally as an xc guy (and racer), I’ve always worn spandex. It works and you don’t even know it’s there. The last thing I need is for baggy, loose clothing to bunch up or get caught on something at an in opportune moment. Wear what you want but I’ll stick with what works and let others worry about fashion.

Or many of us riding hot climates and adhering to "form follows function," there's definite utility in "spandex." Lycra cycling gear simply works. The pros don't wear it to make any sort of fashion statement - it's function first and foremost. Hammering for four to six hours in the heat is conducive to more breathable clothing. For those of us who run a warm thermostat, Lycra is awesome.
And to be honest, I'm kinda sick of the society-wide shaming of the male figure. Never liked the whole "junk" moniker for male bits. (Even though I do appreciate the humor & good-natured ribbing, etc.)
Women are complimented on their form, men are shamed for theirs. This is not only lame, but totally gender prejudice.
Pretty lame to denigrate half of the species, whose "parts" are responsible for our continued survival.

    I LOVE my 510's.
Unfortunately I don't trust Adidas to not totally F*ck them up.

Wow. So much to say so little time 😅. Im not going to buy any of that. Ive got the broke thing done firmly. So im a gebrone. ? Not sure about the spelling. I wear whatever I have thats comfortable and wont be bullied into anything. Oh yes and cheap. I do like the gloves. I will take a pair of my wifes white gardening glove and a marker and make my own. 0$

Sorry Bobo, but 5 10 ain't what they used to be, the new rubber they use suck balls man. I was big on ma 5 10s, the new pair got binned within a couple of months, those were Hellcats. Turned to Crankbrothers, and not disappointed.

Lycra is more comfortable when riding cross country. The outfits that your talking about here, are just expensive versions of everyday wear. Does it make it cool to wear jeans that run over $150. Why not wear Levi's for around $40
