I've slipped a tube down over the gear lever around the bottom. Trouble is they are hi tensile and I guess getting smacked around they fracture and break off. Real curse in the middle of a race. Had half a lap to go one race and was leading. Gear lever broke off as I changed. Neutral. Costed to a halt. Not happy. Car looks llke it handles really well though and looks great in the photo.
Thanks for the tip, Gary! Would you believe I managed to snap it again last weekend. Was the same stick, but welded up properly. First lap of qualifying, stuck in neutral. Fitted a spare, but will look at reinforcing that one now. It's probably part me though, as I normally drive LHD cars, and we have an issue with poor throttle response making it difficult to do proper heel & toe. Will be swapping carbs to find a cure.
Birger Knutsen All good. If I can help anyway sharing info for you happy to. Don't know if you are aware of my car ? you tube ? You could find me "Rush in Imp". I'm running webers on my engine and not having problems. Found F11 emulsion tubes gave better mid range power and better throttle response. F 16 is the common one of cause but I think everybody uses that because it is the common one. Have tried pretty much every cam you can think of and done many dyno runs. Enjoy your video's thanks. Gary
Gary Rush Yes, seen your videos, looking good - and some serious competition as well! We're running two Imps at the moment with very similar specs, but mine is running Dellortos which had to be modified the old-fashioned way while the engine was on the dyno, as spares for these are hard to come by here. The other car runs webers with fantastic throttle response. On my car there is "turbo-lag" for about one sec before it turns into an on/off switch, no worries on the faster tracks but annoying in the wet :)
NIce driving, very smooth and progressive.

Thanks! Brilliant fun to drive this Imp :)
Very Nice, mine is still in the building process. Good to see videos like these. Nice driving.
Sweet sounding engine.
Your blue one flies!

Good luck with that. Sounds like you can copy the other car's set up as its working well no need to re invent the wheel.
Cheers Gary
