thanks for that. I asked around at the track yesterday and no one had heard of them there either. Seems they never made it to us or simply that we can't get them here. Been having major issues getting tires lately. I waited 7 months for my Formula R's 10inch and 12 months for 13x50 for my Rover Cooper! I took the precaution of buying 3 sets of 10's and 2 sets of 13's as my wife has them on her Cooper as well. Much hotter racign yesterday so I took the time play with the tire pressures.

Thanks! I haven't raced much 032s (most guys here run 048s on 12/13"), but I have run 008s in the wet a lot and they're good!

    Hi Lenout & thanks!
CR65s are ok in the wet, but in this heat we are running several classes together, and trying to keep up with the yoko-shod cars (post 65) was impossible. They are no match for the 048Rs. Diff is tran-x LSD, 4:1 FD. But - my 2nd gear is dead in this vid, so I'm using 3rd where I normally would use 2nd, that's why it sounds tall. I also shift at 7000rpm because the motor is a no-steel budget unit.

I like it ...I like it a lot! nothing beats classic racing, and nothings better than a Cooper....except maybe my Jem....and was that a rather tasty Marcos I see up in front?
I run Dunlop Formula R's on my car. The 32's can't be got for love nor money down here in NZ at the moment but all the Mini Miglia and Super Mini guys tell me that the ones to go for.

I went up 2 pounds to 28psi and found that my times were worse, so backed it off to 26psi again but stiffened up the shocks (Gaz) by 2 clicks all around. And went a little quicker. Being so rare a car and the only one racing in NZ I have no data to borrow of others. So if you see the local Jem and Marcos owner I'd appreciate an intro so we can swap data.

@Jeminitim thanks :) yes it's a demon fast marcos indeed. We do actually have a Jem racing here as well, but he hasn't been out this season. 32s are good as long as you have wide enough wheels. My car is pre 65, so have to run CR65s on 4,5", which are fun, but probably a couple of secs slower per lap.

@Jeminitim The CR 65 are the Dunlop old-style tyres, a la the early 60s. They are compulsory in the FIA pre 65 classes, and no match for modern tires. I had problems with 032s on my Cooper: I spent a brand new set in two races at this track; the CR65s are much tougher: they'll last 8-9 races incl qual.

Great stuff.... and helps me answer a question... I'm running Yoko A032r but wondering if CR65 would be better in the wet.... perhaps not ;-)
    Thanks for sharing !!

On tyres, I have no experience with CR65s but it sounds like they are not much cop in the wet? AO32s are our best option in the wet but we can use Hoosier in Australia, and they are by far the best in dry. I started on A008s and found them only maybe good enough for a road car.
Curious about your diff ratio & type - sounds too tall for that circuit. What type is it? We can also run Weber carb. Nice video.

I run minilites 4.5 size as well. Anything bigger wont fit the Jem. Several of my mates have 32's on their Cooper S race cars with 4.5 rims and have never heard there being an issue. I tried 008's but they weren't much chop on the track. So who makes the Cr65's Ive never heard of them?

OK. I grew up with Mini's as my bread and butter.. I evolved an 1950 English 850 Deluxe into a fire breathing 1310 fully worked aircraft engineered turbo charged and was nitro enhanced and such was a weapon that managed to put down 200+HP ar the front wheels but was the wildest thing since Dame Edner Everage,,, my mini did 12.8 standing qausrter but was the biggest bitch to handle.. but this sounds so reminiscent of yesterday.. dragging cops oops on the streets.. blowing mobile speed cameras with a finger.. aaaaah those were the days.......real estate to burn we used too call it,....
