Hi everyone. Thanks so much for watching my new Yardistry Gazebo Privacy Wall video. Let me know in the comments below if you have one of these gazebos and how it is holding up.
First - Awesome Video! I have a question - in the video you cut off the bottom of the center vertical post, but at the end of the video there is a brace going down to the concrete. Did you retrofit something or did you recut 2x4 to go all the way to the concrete? I am assuming you determined after the fact that it needed added support?
Hello. That was a total mistake. I cut all three rear 2x4s at the same time and I was not supposed to go the one going in the center. The center absolutely needs the 2x4 vertical support. I just put the cut piece back in with clue and some nails and some metal braces. I also have it off the concrete with some steel brackets between it and the concrete. I had already stained the 2X4 that I accidentally cut so I couldn't just use a new one. Thanks so much for watching .
Amazing video I have already ordered most of the supplies to build next week. Would you recommend the middle support a 4x4 post if I was going to mount a tv ?
I just bought a 12x16 and it took me and my daughters eight days to finish. Oii! Order my lights, bug zapper, electronic tv mount and Bluetooth sound bar. Trying to live my best outdoor man cave life. Thanks for the privacy fence idea!
Just a quick shout out. Thank you very much for the help and the video. I've had the Gazebo for about 6 months, and just assembled the wall last weekend. Came out perfect, thank you again!
This video gave me inspiration for my 12x10. Instead, I framed it differently and went only halfway down for a TV wall. Doubled up 2 sets of vertical 2x4’s for the TV mount and used 5/4” x 6” cedar decking board for the horizontal slats. Came out great!
Tugboat looked good our first year for our privacy wall we added to the 12x24. Ended up re-coating and did the Yardistry cedar this year, now we are all uniform.
@@DRC_88 yes, I did semi-transparent. When I restrained everything this year (my wall plus the original Yardistry structure) it definitely got a shade darker.
Thank you for this detailed tutorial! I've watched a few of your video's in preparation of my gazebo being delivered in under a month. I appreciate you taking the time to put these video's together, and provide the little details (and struggles). Cheers! :)
Hey, just wanted to say thank you. I found your video and recreated exactly what you have done and just finished my wall perfectly. Appreciate it very much Doug
I just bought the gazebo and in the process of putting it together so far everything has been great. Thanks for your videos, great idea with your wall!
Marco, I love the gazebo but looking at my neighbors work truck all afternoon was getting old. This was kind of the prefect solution and it gave my patio more of an Outdoor Room type of feel. So we really love it. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for this video!! We have watched it several times. Our plan is to get one of these gazebos - we'll be sure to let you know how it goes!! Thanks, again!
Thanks for this DIY, going to start this soon as well. Quick question, I couldn’t find the tongue and groove anywhere so we had to go with shiplap. We have all the same dimensions and wanted to know if this should hold up the same?
Great step by step guide, and it's great that you included a materials list. I just bought one of these gazebos and I am going to build a wall just as you have shown with the minor exception that I am setting it back slightly to show the roof support arches and maintain that look of continuity to the other sides. I showed this video to my wife and she preferred the solid wall to the optional wall Yardistry sells. (I'm doing the short wall. They make an optional wall that you can order online for the short side but it is louvered)
It really was a simple project. I like the solid wall too. Now I can just put a nail in it to hang stuff on it. Thanks so much to you and your wife for watching.
Hi Aaron. I love our gazebo. I have a video on my other channel called "Plant Based Dads" where I did timelapse of the actual build. Check that one out too. Thanks so much for watching.
Very nice and detailed video . I’m starting mine tomorrow. Could only find the 6 inch T&G . Stain applied last night ! Can’t wait to finish up tomorrow!
This is great Joey! We have the same gazebo also and I want to do something like this on the one side. I was thinking about the lever kits but this is a great option too. Maybe I’ll do half and half. The stain is a good match. Thanks for all the great info!
If I had known they made the lever kit for the 14foot side, I probably would have just purchased that. But at the time, I didn't know that. I do really love the way this turned out though. Thanks so much for watching.
@@DIYProjectGuys I cant find a lever kit for the 14 foot side, but I love your idea I already have the 12 foot lever kit for the 2 12 foot sides, just going to close in the back and leave the front open
Hey Joey, great job! I noticed you put the privacy wall on the 14' side of the gazebo. I also noticed your middle support 2x4 is resting on the ground. What did you use to dress up the bottom of that 2x4? Have you also used any of the stain sealer on any parts of the gazebo?
Hi Joey, Great job!! I'm inspired by your video to do the same thing. I noticed in the video that your center vertical 8 foot treated 2 X 4 is being supported by a stand on the ground (time stamp 9:29). Was that placed just for additional support? And where did you get it so I can do the same? Thanks
Hi Joey, I am also wondering about the support you added to the vertical beam. Could you share a link to that support or more information about what type to get? Hoping to add in my own privacy wall this spring. Thanks!
I'm looking to put this together myself in the coming weeks. The Yardistry gazebo is cedar. Your 13 T&G siding doesn't mention the type of wood. Did you go with cedar as well or a different type of T&G siding?
My gazebo is about two years old. The yardistry stain is fading badly in places. The tugboat stained wall is still perfect (thank you). I’ve cleaned the post of mildew. Now I need to with stain with the tugboat but I really don’t want to have to stain. Would you recommend trying the stain in a little seen area or would you lightly sand to make it more even? Thank you.
Curious to know what you used to brace the middle board to the cement? Initially there was nothing but later in the video it looked like the .middle board was resting on the ground. Thanks!
looks like the middle vertical 2 x 4 you extended to the patio but in the video it just goes t the bootom of the bottom horizontal 2 x 4? Did you find it was more stable extended? I have the same fan. Great fan found on amazon.
Thanks so much for these videos. Your gazebo looks amazing. Do you think the wall is strong enough to hold a TV? Also, where is the video on how to install the fan?
Hi Tamara. The video on how to install the ceiling fan is on Plant Based Dads. We also have a video there on how to wire an outlet for the string lights that go around the inside top of this thing and we have a video there that shows the time lapse of us building this thing. Check those videos out. Yes, the wall is definitely strong enough to hold a tv. Those shiplap boards are solid wood. Thanks so much for watching.
did you end up installing the tv on the wall? i built the same wall but not sure if i should reinforce the back of it with some 2x4 before mounting tv to it.
What did you add at the bottom of the middle support post? I saw that you added something at the bottom that wasn’t in the video you did an awesome job
I was not supposed to cut the bottom of that middle support off. I was supposed to cut the left and right because they were screwed directly to the side posts, but the middle was supposed to go all the way down to the ground because it needed to support the middle of the privacy wall. So when I cut all three at the same time, I realized I messed it up. If you look closely, you can see I put the cut part back on and I slipped some metal flat pieces under that so it didn't touch the concrete and get wet when it rains. That was a total mess up on my part. But, it will still support the weight because that thing is supported on the left, right, top and the middle. Good catch.
@@DIYProjectGuys thanks so much I just finished doing mine I modified it a bit but your video was a great help I uploaded it to my videos if you would like to go to my channel and check it out once again thanks for your tutorial
Hey guys your videos are so great. I love them. Can I ask if you stained the entire patio with the Tugboat Stain color or just the wall? Also where did you get those beautiful leaf design trellises in the background? Thanks for making such easy to follow projects.
Thank you for all the good info that helps I have one Costco Grand Gazebo on its way is it possible to get a vertical measurement Centerline of the post from the bottom to the top of the aluminum To get the permit they are asking 5ft from the property line but they are going off YARDISTRY schematic which says 10.4 ft I am trying put it at 4ft from the property line so it can draw up the permit with that measurement so if I can get that measurement that would be nice Thank you
I can and I already did. It was way before this video was made. It is on my original channel. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/leUp2vJZfkM/видео.html
Great video, due to winds in are area plus ours being on a deck. I’m thinking of taking all the way down to the floor. If I took it down to the floor wouldn’t that distribute the weight of the wall better plus take it off the pergola?
Kate, exactly! I need one of those triangle things you put on the edge of the drill so I can switch back and forth from drill bit to screwdriver instantly. Thanks so much for watching.
The yardistry will weather gray. So in a year or two you won't have a match. If you put a sealer on the yardistry you might keep the cedar from weathering.
Great addition to your gazebo! We just built our gazebo up to the point of adding roof panels. Did you use the Behr Semi-Transparent Sealer-Stain Tugboat color on you gazebo as well? Thanks in advance with your help.
Hi Teddy. We did not stain the gazebo with the tugboat stain. The gazebo was already stained by the manufacture. We just used the tugboat stain to stain the privacy wall because it was a good match for the mocha color that was on the gazebo. Thanks so much for watching.
I was thinking of putting up a curtain on the side, your idea is much better. In one of your other videos a piece of wood was used to support the roof panel, what was the length ? Thanks in advance.
That was the video where I built the gazebo. I didn't have a 4th person so we used a 10ft 2x4 to hold the panels up while we put the other panels in place. Make sure it is exactly 10 feet. Thanks os much for watching.
I was all set to construct the wall on my 12X24 Yardistry Gazebo this week, but was told by too many people that due to the high winds in my area, (Apple Valley, Ca.) the integrity of the Gazebo's structure would be compromised quickly. I was so bummed, as I was ready to add the wall to my Gazebo, knowing it would have looked awesome. Thanks for your video though. For those in a high wind area, think twice about this wall before committing to it.
I honestly doubt that the structure would be compromised by putting up a wall like this. If you have the gazebo properly secured on the footings, then it would be fine.
Great Video! I'm looking at putting in a 12 x 20 and want to do this on the 12' side and then half of the 20' side to create like an enclosed corner and put up a TV etc. How is the seal? I'm down in FL and we get some nasty sideways rain storms so I was curious does it need to be sealed somehow to prevent water from getting through?
Hi Matt. We did seal it when we stained it. And its all tongue and groove so water should not get through the boards. Of course, rain water can spray in from the open sides so I would put the tv high enough to protect it as best you can and put a cover over it when not in use. Here in the desert, its not really a concern. I moved here from Tampa, FL so I understand the what you are saying. Good luck with the project. I cant tell you how much I love my patio with this wall blocking my neighbors.
@@DIYProjectGuys too funny, I live in Largo, FL so just West of Tampa, hope you're still a Lightning Fan (if you like hockey). Yea I will put a cover on the TV. in your opinion should I run additional boards on the back side to mount the TV to? I don't think the Toungue and Grove would be sturdy enough to hold up a 55"+ TV, do you?
Yes, I would run something for the mounts to bolt into for the TV. Yes STILL a lightning fan. Was at their very first game and had season tickets for 3 years when they were at Thunderdome. Way back when Darren Puppa was the goaltender.
I’m also in AZ and I just installed a 12x16 gazebo. I was searching for a way to add the wall and found your channel. Are those slats come in 16 feet long or 12 is max? If only 12 then I guess I would have to make two 8 feet sections to cover the 16 feet side? Great video. Thanks!
We got them at Home Depot and I don't remember if they came in 16 feet lengths but I am sure they do. Most lumber does come in 16feet lengths. But you could totally do 8foots and just do a seem in the middle with a trim board. I really like the seamless look though. Good luck!
Hi Andrew. Its the one they sell at Costco. They are about 59.00 I think. I got one for each side just to stop the sun from coming in and fading the furniture. I put them up and down every day. Thanks so much for watching.
That looks really great. One question: Why did you put a layer of plywood under each post? Is it pressure treated? How did you attach it to the post, and did you attach it to the concrete? Thank you!
I had to raise 3 of the posts to level it out because its on a slab that is pitched for drainage. Yes, I used a think layer of stainless steal and then some cedar.
Were looking at adding one at my MIL house. Can you tell me how much clearance there is from the ground to the truss under the roof? Im trying to figure out if a storm door will open up and clear that beam. Thanks.
I have seen many Rick Moranis movies and don't see any resemblance, but I have heard that same thing from people all my life so there is something to that for sure. Thanks so much for watching

That was the video where I built the gazebo. I didn't have a 4th person so we used a 10ft 2x4 to hold the panels up while we put the other panels in place. Make sure it is exactly 10 feet. Thanks os much for watching.
Thanks so much.

How did the pine t&g hold up over the years?
please can you have a VIDEO on your plants in the backyard???
Good luck!
Looks great. I see you have a sunshade on the sides. Where did you get that?
Hi Andrew. Its the one they sell at Costco. They are about 59.00 I think. I got one for each side just to stop the sun from coming in and fading the furniture. I put them up and down every day. Thanks so much for watching.
Great Job!!!!!
Thanks.
Nice video !
Thanks!
Hi great video just have a question is the siding pine?
Yes, it is
Yardistry does make a 12 foot wall for their gazebo! I purchased it online .. your wall looks great too!
Did anyone watch “Honey I shrunk the kids” This Is that guy! And the same garden 😂
I have seen many Rick Moranis movies and don't see any resemblance, but I have heard that same thing from people all my life so there is something to that for sure. Thanks so much for watching
