Most bladed weapons in 40k are usually a form of 'power weapon' that generate an energy field around the weapon essentialy turning it into a light saber. The type and quality of the weapon determine how effectively it can slice through metal or armour.
If you guys are asking, who was the statue was, it's Sigismund, first captain of imperial fists and later on the founder of the Black Templars. And the sword is called the black sword, it is only used by the emperor's champion (fun fact. The emperor's champion was once a rank in every space marine chapter. But due to how the Black Templars take the emperor's divinity so serious, they were the only one granted this rank). And this sword is considered sacred, like losing one will bring great shame to the chapter and will do anything to retrieve the said sword. And Lorgar is the primarch of the word bearers legion.
That is not Sigismund. He was never known pre heresy or post heresy to wield a thunder hammer as a matter of fact Sigismund would go on to become the first Emperor's Champion and was exclusively clad in the Armour of faith and wielding a black sword pre heresy he wore what would come to be known as artificer armour and making use of the very same black sword. The staue is most likely to be High Marshal Sigenandus who was high marshal during the Wars of Apostasy M36. He went into a furious rage upon finding out the rouge high lord Goge Vandire had destoryed black templar's chapter keeps in the Segmentum Solar. He gathered four crusade fleets as well as elements from the Imperial fists, Soul Drinkers and Firehawks as well as Martian Skitarii and took the fight to Terra itself and laid siege to Vandire's Ecclesiarchal Palace. Together with Chapter Master Lazerian of the Imperial Fists, Sigenandus fought his way towards Vandire's chambers. The two warriors fought side by side with their Thunder Hammers, crushing all before them. At battle's end, with Vandire dead at the hands of his own bodyguard, the Brides of the Emperor. Sigenandus still burned with fury at the destruction of his Chapter's keeps and the scale of the High Lord's betrayal. Determined that none should escape his vengeance, High Marshal Sigenandus set off from Terra to hunt down all those who had broken faith with the Emperor
I don’t recall this story in one of the books but there are thousands so who knows. But the conflict Black templars and word bearers is kinda ironic. The Legion that brought the faith in the imperium. Lorgar even wrote the bible on how to worship the emperor. And then they were punished for their worship. On the other side the black templars are formed after the heresy. And they have faith and worship in their core chapter doctrine. They prey before every battle for protection by the god emperor. And they are not punished. If you guys ever make a lore video about the adeptus mechanicus you should start with the game trailer for the mechanicus game.
@@GMineo yeah the black templars are founded shortly after the heresy. Robute Guilliman wrote the codex Astartes which states that a legion should be broke up into chapters with 1000 battle brothers. Thats why there are some many chapters in the 41st millennium. So one legion or primarch couldn’t start a new heresy. So the Black Templars are founded out of the imperial fists. So Rogal Dorn the primarch of the imperial fists took his sons with some anger issues and formed the black templars. And he made his best and favorite son the chapter master or how they call him the high marshal. Sigismund/ the emperor’s champion and the eternal crusader. One of the most badass marines of the heresy. Funny thing the black templars dont follow the codex Astartes. They have way more than 1000 marines. They use a loop hole where a chapter can have more marines when they are on a crusade. So the are on a eternal crusade to annihilate the enemys on the god imperator. They especially hate pskers. They dont even use librarians( space marine psykers).
"I almost feel bad for the Space Marines" Born to suffer, bred to die, made immortal just to most certainly suffer a brutal and horrific death in service? Yeah, we should.
I don't know where you got the idea that Space Marines and the Imperium are evil. They are merely survivors. Modern concepts of good/evil are so shallow.
I think in most situations when it comes to storytelling we default to the modern concept of good and evil because, well it is the modern concept, so we have to be shown that they are not following that to realize. We have been told that there is no good in 40k, BUT we haven't had much evidence to there not being evil in the franchise so we made our assumption accordingly

Thank you! That makes a lot more sense. We were curious because a lot of astartes use traditional looking melee weapons
no this is not on terra, it propably is a recruitment monasterry of the black templars, the guy with the blade is an emperor's champion by the way

that is awesome! We haven't learned enough about the black templars yet obviously. But we will be looking into them now!
@@GMineo trust me, the black templar lore is like reading a documentary of the templar knights in the 13th century.

I think we thought the astartes were more mindless than they actually are
The Chad Word Bearers have arrived
to fight the beta templars? 😂
@@GMineo I can get behind that
My brothers....
yes the wordbearers are Lorgars sons, you were correct
We're finally getting some stuff right 😂
