My mom has learned how to bankroll all the comps too. She gambles as a stress reliever, where as gambling stresses me out! I'm a twin and we were born on her birthday. Every year for our birthdays she takes us to the steakhouse on the penthouse floor of our local casino and uses her comps to pay for everything. After dinner we'll go down to the casino and she'll put $100 in one of the $5 slots and we'll all take turns hitting the button. If we win, we all split it. If we dont hit anything, she'll give everyone $20 to go play whatever we want. My brother and husband both like the tables. My sister-in-law usually finds a penny slot machine. My step dad just plays whatever my Mom is playing. Meanwhile, I'll wander around nervously for a few minutes before going back to my mom and asking her for her room key so I can go soak in the giant bathtub in her suite while they all gamble. At the end of the night, my anxiety has disappeared and I've still got my $20. I always go home a winner. 🥩🍹🎂🎰💵🛀❤️

Free meals, play, and rooms😂😂😂 that is the most misleading thing I've heard in a while. Unless you've never stepped foot in a casino and are just rambling. Staying in that free room can be extremely expensive. 10 minutes at the black jack table you could've paid for that crap room 3 times. You get it for free, but only if you cycle through enough money to earn the points you need for this 'free' stuff. Which means you will pay the casino by way of the edge in the pay tables (averaged over time).

From 99 to 08 my girl and I were like fixtures at the Silverton. We were Big video poker players, and I can tell you we never paid for anything at the Casino, from rooms, restaurants, shows, gift shop and back then both of us smoked, me about 3 packs a day. I never paid for cigarettes the whole time I was in Vegas. We had over 2.5 million points apiece. So our points paid for everything, and I mean everything. On average I would say we were there 4 nights a week. We would usually get there somewhere between 8 and 10 pm, have dinner, always steak and lobster, we would play until 5 or 6 am, and a lot of Friday’s and Saturday’s until noon or later. We absolutely loved that place.
Us too. Sadly, Silverton has made it abundantly clear over the last few years that VP players are no longer welcome. They have slashed paytables, and doubled and then quadrupled the amount of coin-in necessary to earn a point playing VP.
@@gregoryschmidt1233 That’s a shame! They used to really take care of the regulars, we were always being invited to something, had a lit of giveaways. So happy for them. Every professional gambler knows that it IS gambling (even if she doesn't call herself a pro). You only have a slight edge at best. Even the best BJ players get the crazy losing streaks. You gotta ride out the losses and ALWAYS stick to the gameplan. Adjust your bankroll accordingly.
@@NeverTalkToCops1 This is a joke!! Nobody wins long term in casinos and if you do these days they will ban you from playing. This is especially true for blackjack.
Boy how times have changed with very few arbitrage opportunities. Now we get negative comps in which the player pays the casino via reduced slot club benefits, short pay tables, resort fees, paid parking and overpriced food and entertainment. Certainly, not my father's Vegas; heck it's not even my Vegas anymore.
@@dwo356 Hell at least you get that once a month. As a Elite player I get nothing. I get a 1 time celebration dinner $100 once a year.😂😂 I usually play mostly at Harrah's Cherokee. Remember that being a winner at gambling is a "long slow torturous path." It's not easy. You can't be a consistent winner from just a few days of learning/experience. It takes many years!

Great and interesting interview. It shocks me when I see people at my local casino not using players cards. She takes her comps seriously. I’d play video poker but I find it very tedious and not fun. Maybe I’ll put some free play in one next time.
It’s worth a shot, I went to mainly video poker from slots and the standard “boring” jacks or better and bonus poker aren’t the only well-paying games out there, you’d be surprised what is out there if you find the right machine and play the right strategy! Best of luck!
@@wildestcowboy2668 Five Star video poker in Harrah’s Atlantic City(specifically Double Pay TDP and Ultimate X BPD) have approximately a 99% payback percentage when played perfectly. Loved this video. She is wise. I also enjoy the comps .. always makes it worthwhile win or lose. The key is FUN ..if you are not having fun..re evaluate. 💀
Lucky.. Lucky her.. she is one rare gem. amongst thousands..that made a fortune, all others went out of the Casino, with empty wallets and emptied bank accounts.
She should have written a chapter on how losing is winning. What I mean is that you can write off your loses at tax time by asking the casino for a win/loss record. The winning part is the comps you get from gambling that money.
wow that's was a great story ! the mistake i always make is i chase my money when i'm losing instead of moving on ! i'm happy when i break even ! definitely going to buy n read her books !
Yes. They can be changed at any time. However, casinos don't constantly change them back and forth. They would just make the change one time and probably stay with that change. Keep in mind that you can always look at the pay table before playing to see if it has been changed. You can never do that with a slot machine.
I know a guy that banged a Indian casino for 875k in 4 days, and he started with 900 in free play 😂. The dummy proceeds to give up 500k in the next month, so he goes to Vegas with 200k runs it up to 1.5m and then gave it all back. Let me win 900k I’ll invest most of it, but I really don’t like to gamble.
You THINK you'll do that, until you think about how much more you could make. Greed and other emotions take over. It's like saying you'll only eat one potato chip or french fry and toss the rest, after not eating all day.
@@mvp6780 yea bro I think not. I walked in to the same casino prior to Covid shut downs, and hit for 60k on a slot machine with free play. I proceeded to get the cash took it to the bank and headed back to work. Let me win 500-1m and it’s way different.
Great interview. I am glad she mentioned the Westward Ho. We used to stay their in our early Vegas days. So cheap but extremely fun. I missed that place.
I stayed in Vegas a couple months ago with all free nights . I get free airfare trips for 2 to many casinos. I receive free cruises . I could have even went on a cruise to Italy and Greece. I get so many Comps. And I have fun playing at the casinos. Even if I lose money I gain lots of perks.
I think grinders (gamble, but take win and leave) still do ok. Maybe they don't win huge jackpots??? But they have fun living as a gambler. But than you also hit those first spin jackpots/First Hand Cards too sometimes.
Love your story, good luck with what you love doing and yes, I always enjoy the comps, meeting actors with private shows, free trips and the casino treats you like a king if you play
Idc what anyone says.. Its absolutely impossible to 100 percent of the time to make money.. You will ALWAYS lose more than you win.. Thats just gambling. If they made casinos for people to make more than they lose there wouldn't be casinos.. Now it is possible to have a win streak, and to eventually win jackpots.. But they are rare. Gambling is something i know alot about and i have both won and lost alot of money. And its not an opinion what im saying is this statement is a fact..
She never mentioned that the slot machines nowadays are server-based... that means in the computer room they can adjust the payout from high to low or low to high... similarity to the blackjacks shoe games... they'll leave the losing shoe game in for a longer duration... conversely the winning shoes they'll change out more frequently!
Not in Las Vegas!!! Classic 3 machines can not be changed once set by the specks at the manufacturer. Classic 2 machines, yes, as they are Bingo machines controlled by a server. Most Indian casinos are Classic 2, and some states have Class 2 machines
Fascinating interview. I have a couple of thoughts. First, the examples brought up, the dealt royal on the 100-play as well as the photos shown, are all very very rare and therefore extremely lucky hits. The average VP gambler will never see those. Second, for every successful gambler like this there are scores of failed gamblers with losses sometimes shockingly high. These disciplined (and lucky) people are rare. Yes, long term success is very hard to achieve, and it involves total commitment, taking advantage of any club benefits you can get as she pointed out (and casinos are constantly devaluing VP play) and scouting for good pay tables that are increasingly hard to find. Another thing you have to account for are the hours spent in the casino. There is a cost here as well. Could you have done something more worthwhile with all that time? I think in many cases the answer is pretty easy.
Yeah man, there are far more scores of people with a ton of losses playing then the rare instance of a winner here and there. I can attest to this. Wish I never picked up the habit, it can be quite costly with nothing to show for.
Man, man, man. Gambling is the highway to hell. You ain't winning, they WONT LET YOU. why the Efff is this so hard to understand? You win, you lose more(this is when you get the high of winning and get addicted) You lose, you lose more(chase starts). Then its all a damn loop where your bankroll goed to hell together with your health, personality, and joy of living..... Gambling is shit, no money is given for any pleasure on this earth. No, no, no....
Honest truth 3rd generation born and raised in Vegas I was playing penny poker with my great grandma and grandpa at the age of 5. This town will consume you statically. Exactly, she got lucky winning a $500,000 slot tournament and getting dealt a royal flush on a multiple line poker machine. NOTHING that she can tell you to help you win but if she is selling books, good for her. No skill whatsoever in slots and very little strategy in video poker. Only strategy is playing at the casino with highest payout percentage. Or maybe if in Vegas you go casino to casino looking for a video poker machine that has a high progressive jackpot that is due to hit. Some have a progressive jackpot for a royal flush. I only play video poker in Detroit when the progressive is over a certain amount. I still never hit it, lol. I get free rooms and eat free anytime I want but I'm losing plenty enough, so it isn't actually free of course. They don't roll out the red carpet for high rollers because they are losing money to the high rollers. If you can count cards, Blackjack would be the only game you could actually give yourself an advantage on over the casino. Anything else they will take your money in the long run.
@Pierre DeLaFrance - many gamblers do not enjoy swimming in shark infested waters. Do you go through life looking for the "easier" path, as opposed to a harder path ?!?
Okay. So comps are absolutely what the casino wants to give you. Let's talk about how much money people lose to get comps? What are we even talking about here? Who cares about comps. People lose their lives in casinos. This is ridiculous I don't care what anyone says
Comps are NOT based on actual loss, they are based on the industry term “ THEO “ theoretical loss. ( average bet * time played * average hold on the game.

Yes. The pay tables on the machines are not as good as they used to be.
@@TheJackpotGents Can pay tables change from time to time in the same casino?
Yes. They can be changed at any time. However, casinos don't constantly change them back and forth. They would just make the change one time and probably stay with that change. Keep in mind that you can always look at the pay table before playing to see if it has been changed. You can never do that with a slot machine.

Exactly. I think the multi game machines with vp and keno are server controlled too. Seems they are always fiddling with the randomness in keno.
Love her story 🙏🏼

Only strategy is playing at the casino with highest payout percentage. Or maybe if in Vegas you go casino to casino looking for a video poker machine that has a high progressive jackpot that is due to hit. Some have a progressive jackpot for a royal flush. I only play video poker in Detroit when the progressive is over a certain amount. I still never hit it, lol. I get free rooms and eat free anytime I want but I'm losing plenty enough, so it isn't actually free of course.
