The smartest thing Ryan Clark did was have them travel to interview people instead of trying to get people to come to them. Ryan is also a better interviewer who obviously prepares questions in advance instead of trying to wing it. Fred sometimes ask a questions. Crowder is comic relief.

I dont think he misses them because his stuff is doing good. The pivot can be as good as they want but nobody cares about what's going on over at pivot if they are hitting their numbers. its all about numbers and if he is hitting his numbers he could care less about what they are doing and when his company gets acquired , the check will be in his name and not 3 other dudes.
No one cares about your success if they are also successful !!! they dont have time for it but had his thing fell off which it didnt, he would have been salty but he is doing his thing and they didnt understand business or risk brandon took but wanted to be equal partners after the fact which is insane, even to the dumb.
why would brandon put in money, work the show with them, take the responsibility of the production and running the company only to have it become a success, then the people who only showed up to shoot the episodes, want equal shares and a roll back to become equal partners; roll back means that they will invest today, at the price that was a year ago instead of what the business is worth today which would eliminate them having any risk because now its successful. which grease for brains would agree to that and thats what channing was suggesting because he has no idea about business.

To each his own. The content will be different on both platforms both appreciated for what they bring. I gravitate towards I am athletes more based on the guests that appear, guests I’ve actually been a fan of. There’s something to take from both. Pivot may appeal more to older or middle age men. At least both channels are doing well. No need to make it a competition that’s the root problem to begin with and def not for us to debate.

The “disrespect” was Marshall asking them to buy a stake in the company in today’s value. Fred and Crowder were unwilling to do that despite Marshall putting in all the capital and taking the risks.
It was very much about the money, since Fred said in his own words they couldn’t see eye to eye on the stake purchase of the podcast. Mind you, none of these guys were interested in ownership before the podcast blew up.

@@philly215tyMarshall was collecting the revenue, but it’s not like he was seeing any profit season 1. The money was dumped back into the podcast. Marshall was eating all the expenses. Fred and Channing agreed with this setup.
Fred and Channing showed up a couple times a month, put together a couple of hours of content a pop and then bounced. Marshall was the engine, working 5-7 days a week keeping it afloat.
When S2 came along, Channing still wouldn’t buy a stake in the company. He was okay with collecting a salary.
By the time the podcast blew up, they both wanted to buy a stake in the company with the old valuation from when the company started. They basically cherry-picked their leverage without assuming any risks.
Only mistake Marshall made was promising to split the company evenly when they got started.
I’m not a business owner, but this is a very black and white issue.

Ego stepped into the arena. The bag was fumbled. This happens all the time when ONE person has a singular agenda. I've worked in sports and entertainment for 30 years. There's a playbook for the weakest link or biggest ego.
I've been in the room with CAA, WME, IMG, NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. Divide and conquer is the game.
A "battery" was put in Brandon's back, and he became amped up & he switched up. There's numerous ways to recoup your investment ("first money out, etc.") and divide equity evenly amongst "your boys."
Brandon is a good brotha, but he's self-absorbed and volatile. Unless you are white and very, very good at what you do, you can not maintain control or attain real power and success unless you uplift, support, and empower others.
Example: LeBron James has placed a 👑 upon the heads of each and every one of "his boys." Every single one of them have their own platform, lane and / or business. They are all independently wealthy and powerful millionaires💰💵💰!!
    The Pivot Will Win Big!

If you ever start a company where you have to put the hours into capital, personal energy, building connections and business relationships. It's a whole lot more into building a company than just money but if you didn't put in the original investment in capital when you knew stuff had to be paid for then don't come back talking about 50/50 now. From what I’m hearing, Brandon said everything was supposed to be equal at first and when Freddy T asked for his 25%, Brandon changed up. There was an argument and then both parties went their separate ways. But Brandon did say that all parties were supposed to be equal and then offered his partners 25% or a per episode fee. One of those partners asked for his 25% and then Brandon said he spent 500k already and said that the partner could no longer have his share that they agreed on. That’s what I heard at least. How is it okay for someone to set a verbal agreement to equally share the revenue and then learn something later and change the agreement without the consent of his partners? I’m not an attorney but if I was one of those partners that was dependent on that initial agreement? I’d be upset

Might have to go back and get some more clarity my guy. Brandon never said "we're going to split evenly." He stated they would split the earnings once the show sold. You won’t tell a venture capitalist who gave you an investment yeah you gave me some money but I put in more and did all of the work so you don’t get what you originally invested. A second thing to consider is the success. Think of all the fans who have left IAA and went to The Pivot, and let’s not get it twisted The Pivot is more successful and popular than IAA is now. Brandon states the problem plain and clear at 3:40. The mutual understanding was "when we sell a show, we split it evenly". He then goes on to say that he "started learning" and basically went back on what was agreed upon because he feels his value was higher than that of his co-hosts. Even if he is right, and it was his investment, his vision, and he carries the responsibility of how the show should be set up and sold. Then it is still on him for changing the rules of the game while the game is underway, and communicating poorly about it. You can say things like "it is industry standard" and "take the emotion out of money" and that sounds nice. But if you already have an understanding with someone, a sudden change in your agreement in which you take a cold and distant approach would always lead to disagreement.
It is smarter to increase the size of pie rather than to fight over the crumbs. Take care of your guys. I think that is the bigger picture that Brandon is still missing. Realize that even if it is part of your vision and your company, the show is not about you and never was. Nor were you the biggest reason for its success. Let's be honest, you can't reasonably ask guys who could do the same thing by themselves to take a smaller cut plus participate in promoting your company that they are not part of. Come on now.

So basically he was trying to low ball them. If he was fair he would’ve said what they were going to get and what he was going to get. It’s obvious it went from three equal partners to a boss and 2 workers. Letting showtime hype him up like he would’ve been there without them. Both side’s winning tho.

People who say they’re too real or too authentic are usually fulla shyt 10 times outta 10. The overall I Am Athlete and the podcast are two different rev streams. The fact he couldn’t simply separate the two In order to make something amazing work speaks to his ineffectiveness as a leader. Somehow, someway these same group of guys who were sooooooo difficult in negotiations got a show producer, added ryan clark and been off to the races ever since. All signs point to B Marsh being the problem.

He gave everyone a chance to invest and they wanted per episode fee. Thats not his fault. He did what he was supposed to do. Now the Pivot is a better podcast because of the balance of personalities, but Brandon, from this explanation, wasnt wrong in his assessment of the situation. I thought they were all equal partners.

It’s called valuation. If we make a deal about a percentage of something at a certain valuation and you, me, we don’t lock it in at that valuation then the value goes up, when you come back to the table then your buy in goes up. I’ve heard Fred say as much that he thought B. Marsh should have honored the original valuation off the strength because of the work he had done to that point. B. Marsh’s point is that he fronted the money which means he took the risk and so there’s a contractual value to that. There was also the creative component in the dispute because Fred and Channing didn’t like the direction the show was going. I didn’t either. I stopped watching when they went the nascar route. Overall though just sad they couldn’t get it together because I ain’t gonna lie: I don’t watch either show anymore tbh.
