So you've been here since the very beginning. I always enjoy hearing stories from the past. I feel the same way. I came up in the early 2000s with an old Dad who was ALSO there in the beginning. He taught me everything. So the first trilogy is what I watch more than anything. The sequels sucked and everything after that was worse. I'm not getting my hopes up.
Too little, too late. They had their chance to capitalize on the OT trio and blew it. If I were Harrison Ford I wouldn't want a part of Star Wars these days either. Fix LucasFilm, get rid of Kennedy (who, if she were a man would have been fired a long, long time ago), stop entirely the woke/feminine agenda and work on creative storytelling, and concentrate on appeasing older fans (especially the core audience who are necessary to revitalize the franchise,...yes, I'm talking about straight men for the most part. Ladies and LGBT+ have always been welcome but they are not the majority of the Star Wars audience that has been largely chased away.) That is just smart business. Which is why, with Disney's current leadership, I doubt it will happen until the company folds entirely.
I disagree with you is never too late to fix anything it's going to take time but it can happen. If people are so sick of walk agenda and all that then the answer is simple you got to end freaking culture war because that's the root of all the problems one of the stupidest things that keep happening is that people always talk about sexuality and a race of a person when do we hit rock bottom that we worrying about the stuff like this. Star wars is meant for everybody it doesn't matter if the audience is male female, straight or gay if they like that's all that matters. People keep saying the same thing over and over again about how much the franchise is dead and still they keep talking about it to this day if something is dead you don't talk about it that much
It wasn't just bad movies that made me leave Star Wars for dead. It was the response to fan criticism. They would have to Fire Kennedy, decannonize the sequels, and disavow any future work with Johnson or JJ. No quibbling or negotiating about those requirements, if i am to believe they want me (me, just one person) back as a customer. Until then i will not be introducing my nieces and nephews to Star Wars.
Carrie's gone, Harrison's a grumpy curmudgeon and Mark is unhindged. The fans are not stuck on the original cast, we just want a return to good story telling. Even if they somehow brought the entire cast back it wouldn't matter if the script is garbage.
@@longshot7601as long as the sequel trilogy and pretty much everything else they have done remains canon, it is a lost cause. And you know perfectly well that they're beyond hope storywise.

Sadly, these people are already doing exactly what the people with the power and influence want happening. The powers that be definitely don't want even the big fandoms of old still existing, because they're a threat to their society atomization program, they provide people with a point of coming-together and an escape that is not pre-approved and fully controlled by the power.

For the English speakers at least. I don't agree though, if his AI generated voice will be used for ever, that means someone else will not have a chance of voice acting. Is this really what you want? No new actors will ever be needed, because studios will just keep milking the dead ones?
@@0Defensor0 Lets be honest Disney would have just used AI to fake his voice any way. At least this way he saw to it his family would at least get a pay out when they do it now.

He should have started his own studio and created a competition for Dis. Star Wars with no meddling from the soy cowboy and Crapleen.
No. Mark Hamill is a psycho and Ford is correct. Let it go. If you want the big three. RECAST them like the Kelvin Timeline Star Trek movies with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. This is not how it works with narcs like Crapleen or Felony though. They will not appreciate it, they will hate you instead if you are more talented and successful than them. They want to be the ones who created popular movies, characters, shows... Pissney already treated him badly when he was working on the MCU for them. He made something successful, then they started to mess with later movies more and more. So I don´t know why he believed he would be able to keep The Mandalorian safe from w0ke pr0pag4nd4. He had a perfect chance to establish his own IP which would be a competition for Dis. SW. The winner would be clear. I kinda understand the nostalgia connected to SW and the desire to work within that universe and to improve it after the sequels. Absolutely James Earl Jones did the right thing here. I am sure that Mel Blanc would have done the same if the opportunity had presented itself, and I would be willing to bet NFL Films would love to have the rights to "The Voice of God" John Facenda. I applaud him for doing so. Well played sir.
The only way Star Wars can be saved at all right now is if Disney sells it, issues a public apology and it lays dormant for 5 years or so. Let people forget it. Get the bad taste out of our mouth. Then, secretly, during the 5 year hiatus, a competent writing team of people who respect the source material, headed by sue rostoni who oversaw the EU novels, works secretly with george (in an advisory capacity) to hammer out the real sequel trilogy and have it dovetail with the original expanded universe. I am willing to accede to a soft reboot by wiping out the NJO and whatever.else was in the denningverse, but keeping the things that worked. Jacen's 5 year force journey, his daughter. Ben skywalker. No killing chewie or mara jade. No making jacen a sith. No jag fel. No alema rar. And at the end of that 5 year hiatus, the first movie of the new, gl approved trilogy is teased properly and released. Have it directed by good directors, i dont know who. Give one to guillermo del toro. Have spielberg do one. Heck have ron howard do one, but make them respect the lore, movies do not get to trump established lore. The old expanded universe had to play nice with whatever George wanted whoever is directing a new movie has to play nice with whatever was there before. Preferably tho, we get unknown directors who are talented, experimental lucas/david lynch types who want to push cinematic boundaries.
-Mando S3- Bo-Karen: the Terr0rist Did Nothing Wrong S1 has barely any western elements and none samurai-like ones, which is another proof of the obvious rewrites. Hammering the square peg Bo-Karen into a round hole 10X smaller than the peg caused everything to crack and fall apart. Very interesting thing is when I was rewriting S3 into what I think was the original story before Failoni butchered it some samurai elements appeared spontaneously.

I mean JJ had chewie walk right pass Leah at the end of 7. Her husband and his best friend just died. She goes to hug try for no reason. That was definitely a kk decision.
Disney had their chance to get the original characters back on screen but they screwed it up and Harrison Ford never liked the character of Han Solo he wanted Han to die in the empire strikes back so when they killed him off was what he wanted and it was the only reason he came back

Star Wars is a generational beloved property. As quickly as you can make the fans hate it you can just as quickly have them do a 180 and dive back into it. with the right people behind it. They're always will be nitpicky things and complaining even amongst friends and passionate people. Unless you wait like 25 years. It will have a fan base waiting. With fans as loyal as Star Wars fans you're able to get away with quite a bit sometimes. But at this moment no you can't. This will take a complete total commitment to doing it right to fix it completely!
I don't think it's possible. Star Wars is bigger than Indiana Jones, and yet Indy's return has already shown that they lost the ability to tell a story that the long-time fans want. Granted, they were aiming for a modern audience. But still, if they can't do it on a smaller scale, there's no way they'll minimize the pork on something with more characters and complicated backdrops.
Save Star Wars? You can’t save something that’s already dead. A resurrection is what’s needed. It’s that or hand the IP to a company that knows what they are doing. Like Studio Trigger.

Mike isn't wrong. They had their chance to give us the big three all together on the screen ten years ago. They blew it. Carrie is gone, Hamil has lost his mind and Ford just doesn't want to do it. I don't blame him really. Lucasfilm broke his leg on Force Awakens then busted up his shoulder on Indy 5. At his age it's safer to stay away from them. As far as James Earl Jones selling Disney the rights to use his voice goes. Good for him, I hope he took them for every cent he could get. And if they really did use Peter Cushing's likeness with out the estates approval i hope they clean Disney out in court.
While it’s certainly an ethical question to use an actor’s likeness and/or voice without their permission, James Earl Jones had every right to sign over use of his voice if he so chose. That’s nobody’s else’s damned business. At the same time, someone who’s likeness/voice is used without permission, he and/or his heirs also have every right to sue.
This was the problem with the CGI Luke in Mando2. We have Aidan to play Solo. Glover to play Lando. Just recast Luke and Leia and the fans will get over it. The OGs are old. Of course a recast makes sense. And it’s already being done in Star Wars.
This is being approached from the wrong end. Sell me on this idea by telling me what having the 3 of them together again gets you in terms of STORY. How does having "The Big 3" back together again do anything but shovel Fan Service and push emotional buttons? If you need 3 digital characters in the story as a basis for selling the story, your story is WEAK and you are in DEEP trouble. I Like JF. He's a good guy with the talent to spare. I also know he's good enough not to need a *CHEAP GIMMICK* to put over a good, satisfying story. Isn't that what we are all after?
Even if they pulled it off, it would just be sad. People would know that it had to be done through digital effects because Carrie Fisher had died before they did it for real. It would just remind people of that and feel uncanny, like AI.
What's the problem, just recast then they can use them to fix the crap KK did and bring in storys from Legends. Can you imagine the Thrawn Trilogy on the big screen?
Disney should never of killed off Han, Luke and Leia, they should have been allowed to pass into galactic legend. Can’t watch any Star Wars while Disney owns it.
THERE IS A WORK AROUND ....you take the guy who played solo in the movie solo ...... Han .... you take CARRIE FISHERS DAUGHTER (who is a dead ringer for her mum ) ....... Leia ....and you take Sebastian stan (who has played as a double ..... Luke ...... /....YOU DONT NEED TO USE TROUBLE ....just doubles
Nostalgia seems to be the only thing left at Disney … but it’s pretty much gone in me, so not sure what Disney expects from these stunts. I guess we are in the „let it all burn down“ phase of Disney.
There is absolutely no saving our beloved Star Wars after the permanent damage wrought by the sequels. The Mandalorian's outstanding seasons 1&2 only distracted us from the damage already done.
Correcting Marvin: we were already recreating people in CG in 94. It was controversial, but there were several commercials featuring dead celebrities and an episode of Tales from the Crypt starring Humphrey Bogart.
This reminds me of the situation on why we didn't get a proper Ghostbusters three, the guy who played as Peter Vankman refused to comeback due to wanting to play some artcy stuff until he ran out of money....and after the actor for Egon passed away.😢💔
I'm honestly amazed they got Ford to do TFA, they'll never get him for this. But even if they could, it won't work. Ford being in Dial of Destiny didn't save that. Banking on the nostalgia of the original SW trio to save Star Wars is a bizarre hail mary that just proves they will literally do ANYTHING except make a classic adventure movie. Nostalgia is not as powerful as they think, and the audience has long since wandered off having been burned too many times. Having Ford, Hamill, de-aged and a nightmare inducing CGI uncanny valley version of Fisher for a crappy cameo is NOT the way forward.
I don't see what legal standing a "friend" of Peter Cushing would have in court unless they own the rights to Cushing's likeness. Shouldn't the family be suing, not some random person?
We should have known at the end of The Force Awakens where this was all going, when Luke tosses the lightsaber over his shoulder. That was Disney saying we don't care what you want, we will do whatever we want. Millions of now adult dreams shattered. The rest is history.
He didn´t toss the lightsaber over his shoulder in TFA, it was in TLJ and apparently it wasn´t the original idea. Abrams had a scene of Luke meditating with rocks floating around him in the air as the closing scene of TFA. But Johnson asked him to change it into less epic scene where Luke is just standing there. And Kylo Ren wasn´t supposed to turn to the light. He was "a reverse Vader" according to the words of Adam Driver who knew the core of the whole sequel trilogy. There was a plan, but it was changed as the filming went and the changes were always for the worse. Kylo was supposed to be the main villain in the last movie. Which means Palpatine wasn´t supposed to somehow return. Holdo was supposed to be a politician and a traitor/antagonist (she still is :D ). Luke was supposed to train Rey and point out her flaws. Leia was supposed to be important in the last movie but the actress died, so this is the only rewrite which was noone´s fault.
Guys, I remember Mark Hamill and Carie Fisher speaking about being cast in Star Wars and signing the contract which says Lucasfilm has rights to their likeness for films and merch. When Lucasfilm was sold to Disney, likely those contracts went with it. George Lucas has said in the past that he owned their likeness for Lucasfilm projects.,
I'm right there with Mike. I just can't make myself care anymore. If it weren't for no way home and deadpool and wolverine I would feel exactly the same about Marvel.
Having Han Luke Leia and Chewien together is nothing but jangling keys and shows how they think we are stupid. They aren’t willing to go to the lengths required. 1) show respect for the OG trilogy and make it the focal point of the theme park 2) abandon wokeness within the studio 3) make a good movie with an abundantly clear path to resetting the franchise and erasing what has been made. 4) only then would Han Luke Leia and chewie together be exciting 5). And quite frankly Gina Carano is a factor in this too. She needs a cameo at a minimum or something to stick it to Disney and LucasFilm but that won’t happen.
I wonder if the rights to their image which George had went into play and if they transferred with the sale or if the rights went back to the actors. So much has changed with the technology that laws need to reflect that.

I think he's indirectly made it clear that he'll do whatever for the money. The guy has exceeded legendary status. I can't blame him.
I really hope he worked out a deal with disney to use his voice and likeness. Hopefully someone that actually cares about Lucasfilm owns it soon and they'll make good use of that making more Indy movies. It'd be really cool to see some new Indy stuff without it turning to shit.
He has no artistic integrity; he only cares about the paycheck. He's been mailing it in for decades.
1977 drive in watcher and fan of the series, here. Raised my kids on Star Wars. Got teased by them on how much I still loved it as they became adults. Got teased by my brothers taking them to Episode I. Got Star Wars stuff for my Grandkids... and what do I have to say about this rumor? DON'T CARE! You can't fool me again. And it won't feel the same with everyone CGI. POUND SAND DISNEY!
Well said
Your terms are acceptable
At this point I only care in seeing Disney folding for what they have done to Star Wars and Indy.
JUST TELL A GOOD STORY. Nevermind the starring cast, just TELL A STORY WE WANT TO HEAR without all the "modern day" baggage.
Until they reboot and get rid of the Rey trilogy, it's never going to be good. They need to have Lucas Film sold off or atleast licensed to someone more competent.
There is no story I’d want to see that would feature those actors or be made by the Rodent House. It’s over.

Disney had their chance 10 years ago. They went with Rey and kicked them 3 to the side. It's too late now. I will not be paying money ever again to see Star Wars.
They gotta get people like Tony Gilroy to make Star Wars. Andor and Rogue one are the best SW contents I’ve seen from Disney.
I really hear Mexican Ironman. The idea of "LET'S HAVE LUKE, LEIA, AND HAN ONSCREEN TOGETHER ONE LAST TIME, THAT'LL GET PEOPLE EXCITED!" No. It absolutely reeks of nothing less than desperation and cringe. That said, I still have hope that Star Wars can be resurrected...but probably not as long as Kennedy, Filoni, Iger are in charge. SOMEONE, ANYONE WITH THE POWER OR INFLUENCE....FIRE THESE PEOPLE!
Dangling keys won’t work anymore. They ran Star Wars to the ground.
Sadly, these people are already doing exactly what the people with the power and influence want happening. The powers that be definitely don't want even the big fandoms of old still existing, because they're a threat to their society atomization program, they provide people with a point of coming-together and an escape that is not pre-approved and fully controlled by the power.
people have asked for this for years.... supporting this now would be doing Disney a solid (we shouldn't btw), which sucks for Favreu... but it's too little too late...
They had their chance when everyone was alive, and a bit younger. It’s over

James Earl Jones did the right thing his voice is the voice of Darth Vader and needed to stay that way
For the English speakers at least.
I don't agree though, if his AI generated voice will be used for ever, that means someone else will not have a chance of voice acting. Is this really what you want? No new actors will ever be needed, because studios will just keep milking the dead ones?
R.I.P. James Earl Jones

The sequel trilogy is like the Godfather Part III...ignored.
no no no. godfather part 3, though lacking the phenomenal flawlessness of cinematic greatness of prt 1 n 2, still retains memorable epic moments, famous lines and continously story, such as "just when I thought I was out..." or the mafia family leader meeting set-up in a high-rise where a chopper ascends for a mass assassination, disney starwars has NOTHING of note to the franchise outside of destroying a timeless cinematic IP, massive division and contention amongst the audience and the total loss of lifelong fandom as well as failing generational hand-down. godfather 3 pails in comparison to its predecessor, but does not destroy the first 2 and adds an extended story to the overall arc. love it or hate it, it is still a nice addition striving to follow in a long cast shadow that's hard to live up to. disney starwars though? nothing of value has been added to george lucas' vision. rather, the opposite, the total destruction of greatness and the loss of a fandom.
I appreciate godfather prt 3 for at least attempting to follow in greatness. disney ddnt give 2 shits about the source material they purchased for 4billion. they deserve, not only financial ruin, but mockery, ridicule and embarrassment as well. saying disney is totally amateur is giving them far too much credit.

I’m not watching it. Even if I weren’t boycotting the Rodent House, Hamill and Ford disgust me as people at this point. Their marquee value is zero and I don’t want to support their careers anymore.
I think Favreau has the same fatal flaw Lucas has: he is too naive and trusting. He believes if you do something good it will be appreciated.
@@Mouse_Metal I don’t think Lucas is naïve and trusting at all. Mexican Iron Man firing all repulsor rays at once! 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t want to watch anything with Mark Hamill in it anymore. He can go “force” himself.

As a hardcore OT fan from original release, I just dont care what they do going forward now - the damage has been done.
The first two seasons of The Mando captured Lucas's vision of a space western, with drawn elements from Akira Kurosawa's and other shows.
KK will never let Fav succeed... Her minions will be working behind the scenes to destroy every aspect of Fav's project... Zero interest in the project, that ship has sailed... Agree with Mexican Ironman 1000%... Good on HF for resisting the Empire...
At this point who cares if they bring the OT crew back on the falcon. They had that chance when it mattered and when Carrie was still with us. It was by far the most important thing that needed to happen in the sequel trilogy, if you can call it a trilogy. No continuity with those films.

This reminds me of the situation on why we didn't get a proper Ghostbusters three, the guy who played as Peter Vankman refused to comeback due to wanting to play some artcy stuff until he ran out of money....and after the actor for Egon
passed away.😢💔
Bring in Dr. Strange to fix everything and Ghostbusters to cross the streams and finish it all once and for all
The Mangold movie is bout Bob Dylan. So a movie like Walk the line are also true stories.

Mike, you’re awesome
I'm with Mike on this one

When Lucasfilm was sold to Disney, likely those contracts went with it. George Lucas has said in the past that he owned their likeness for Lucasfilm projects.,
Mike's rant is epic!!! 😂 💯😂
1) show respect for the OG trilogy and make it the focal point of the theme park
2) abandon wokeness within the studio
3) make a good movie with an abundantly clear path to resetting the franchise and erasing what has been made.
4) only then would Han Luke Leia and chewie together be exciting
