Was taken to the Battle of Britain museum by my late father, at Biggin Hill when I was about three. That would be 1958. Think I recall seeing one among the amazing collection of types.
The swastika is illegal in Germany and has been for decades. The exception is for approved displays or educational purposes. Obviously this plane didn't qualify for an exemption (or perhaps the owners simply didn't want a full swastika).
Just an allround great plane. Aesthetic, functional, performant and multi role. Arguably the epitome of the WW2 radial engine fighter plane. And the D9 variant is probably the most beautiful and elegant propeller fighter plane ever.
wait, am I missing something....I was expecting a Dora 9-----this one looks like it's a radial, not a D-9?.....Doesn't matter it's still an excellent video, extremely well done and the flying is brilliant in both A/C
@@Sugar_K Yes i know that. THe D9 is baiscally a different aircraft built on a heavily modified FW 190 frame. I was just saying that the D9 is even more aesthetic than the regular FW 190 which we see here.
Similar story, as a kid I was running around in the garden with a model Hurricane in my hand. My ‘scary neighbour’ (his face was covered in skin grafts) shouted over the fence “that’s a Mk2B - I flew them in Africa!” I then proceeded to interrogate the poor man about his entire ww2 experiences
So sad there were so few left capable of flight. I'd have loved to see an A6M Zero, the FW, the 109, the Mustang, the Italian MC 202, the Spitfire, all the great fighters in an air race.
It was called Würger in German which is a Shrike in English, commonly known as butcher birds because they often hang up their prey on thorns or barbed wire.
At Headquarters Giebelstadt Germany I had a coversation with an aeronatical engineer that told me he was involved in restoring a ME-109-D, maybe I can find that aircraft's flight. Congratlations on this effort!
+ Dennis Peltier Do you mean a Fw-190D? There is only one Fw-190D in Germany that is a static rebuild at the Luftwaffe Museum, Gatow. It was raised from a lake but deteriorated badly while left in storage. There were two other Dora projects in all of Europe plus a pile of parts from a third. I think two of those are now in the US as projects and the last project is moving very slow.

Was taken to the Battle of Britain museum by my late father, at Biggin Hill when I was about three. That would be 1958. Think I recall seeing one among the amazing collection of types.
I like how the tail insignia is tastefully "modernised" but still in place.and of course the magnificent piece of history for us to appreciate.
Good someone likes it
Why is it changed? They are taking down statues in America. Funny how in modern times we alter or remove history.
@@stratocaster1greg and others cry never again. cancel culture
@@stratocaster1greg I'd guess it's changed because it's illegal to display a swastika in many european countries
The swastika is illegal in Germany and has been for decades. The exception is for approved displays or educational purposes. Obviously this plane didn't qualify for an exemption (or perhaps the owners simply didn't want a full swastika).
Video quality amazing. Thank you so much and what a wonderful truly iconic aircraft.
Just an allround great plane. Aesthetic, functional, performant and multi role. Arguably the epitome of the WW2 radial engine fighter plane. And the D9 variant is probably the most beautiful and elegant propeller fighter plane ever.
Thanks watching
wait, am I missing something....I was expecting a Dora 9-----this one looks like it's a radial, not a D-9?.....Doesn't matter it's still an excellent video, extremely well done and the flying is brilliant in both A/C
@@jamesvetter4033 Correct, this is the radial FW 190D.
@@axelhopfinger533 its an a-8 not a d9.. the D9 has a different canopy, is lengthened where the red stripe is and a Jumo 213 C v12
@@Sugar_K Yes i know that. THe D9 is baiscally a different aircraft built on a heavily modified FW 190 frame.
I was just saying that the D9 is even more aesthetic than the regular FW 190 which we see here.
Thank you for letting me smile today, much needed these days!
true. Good times.
If it looks right, it flies right... Truer words never spoken... And sounding so good doing so.
So sad there were so few left capable of flight. I'd have loved to see an A6M Zero, the FW, the 109, the Mustang, the Italian MC 202, the Spitfire, all the great fighters in an air race.
I'd love to add a complete, historic Tempest and/or Sea Fury to that..
Such a graceful and beautiful aircraft. One of my very favorites.
Thx
Amazing engine sound
Thx mate
The sound of round.
What a great piece of engineering perfectly restored. Pleasure to watch. 🇬🇧
thank you
Absolutely magnificent… referred too as the Butcher Bird by WW2 RAF Fighter pilots.
It was called Würger in German which is a Shrike in English, commonly known as butcher birds because they often hang up their prey on thorns or barbed wire.
Never thought i would see a Fw 190 flying. Great job!
Not one of my favorite airplanes but it's a joy to see it airborne 👍👍
Two very famous airplanes. Too bad you couldn't have had a P 51 in the mix.
Beautiful planes, these things should be remembered.
Thanks watching
Ausgezeichnet, mein Herr !!!
Danke Robert
Super!!
Gratuliere!
Danke !!!
Beautiful display. Didn't realise how big the 190 canopy was compared to the 109. Much more comfortable!
Thanks watching
Nice photography. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks a lot !
At Headquarters Giebelstadt Germany I had a coversation with an aeronatical engineer that told me he was involved in restoring a ME-109-D, maybe I can find that aircraft's flight. Congratlations on this effort!
oh cool
+ Dennis Peltier Do you mean a Fw-190D? There is only one Fw-190D in Germany that is a static rebuild at the Luftwaffe Museum, Gatow. It was raised from a lake but deteriorated badly while left in storage. There were two other Dora projects in all of Europe plus a pile of parts from a third. I think two of those are now in the US as projects and the last project is moving very slow.
@@FiveCentsPlease The engineer said it was a Messerschmitt. It was back in 84. I never gave it another thought until I saw this video, just hoping. Thanks for the clarification and insight.
Let her fly 🦅🇺🇸🏁
soon
So rare to see This plane!
Beautiful vidéo, thanks a lot!
Thanks watching
Jagdgeschwader 26 , the Focke-Wulf 190 squadron that Adolf Galland flew in !!! … are the guns working in this one ???
i dont think so
Many thanks for another great video - both are great aircraft, but the Messie's lines are so sleek and beautiful...good job!
Thanks watching and beeing subscribed
Absolutely amazing. Shame it cant bear its full original paints, but I understand its law
Screw "the law".... who's law? It's shameful we cannot have original markings. This is exactly how history gets re-written.
@@tempestfury8324 German law. I agree with you it’s lame, but the owner of the planes can’t do otherwise
@@dunbar555 : It's a little too late....and a symbol, or the abolishment of a symbol, isn't going to change facts. But it certainly can influence ideology.
Where was "German Law" when it came to persecution of Jews? Where was "German Law" when Germany invaded and created two world wars? When was "German Law" significant when over 60 million lives were lost during WWII?
We might agree but I don't give a damn about "German Law".
They are attempting to rewrite history and you are giving their excuse.
@@tempestfury8324 you are preaching to the choir. I agree with you. That’s why I said it was a shame, but didn’t want to blame the planes owner for it, so I said i understood why their plane was painted in such way
@@dunbar555 Well you can understand it and don't blame the owner but I still say it's bullshit.
Is this plane and owner in Germany? Was this an airshow in Germany? If so, whatever.
Here in the United States we like to see that swastika so we know who to kill. Just saying.
I saw the title of the video and I thought I might be seeing this flying in Texas, because my free association of the letters D-FWAA made me think of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and the AA at the end made me think of American Airlines since D-FW is a major hub for AA.
+@michaeleberly7531 "D-FWAA' is a German aircraft registration. F = France, G = England, etc.
@@FiveCentsPlease Yes I know. Thank you. I was joking obviously.
