What are your thoughts on Alternate Day Fasting (ADF)? I tried it for a few months and I loved it. Typically involves 36-40 hour fasts...when you are done eating your last meal of the day you fast all through the night, all the next day, again through the night, and then you can eat whatever you want the following day Although you have to be careful how you break your fast because your GI system hasn't been active for a while. But as someone with a food addiction, this was the best method I found. It allowed me to wake up with the mindset "i dont have to think about food today", and when i would get intrusive food thoughts, i could easily shift it to be mentally planning what i was going to eat the next day when i broke my fast. Best part was, i would be fantasizing about all these craving foods and telling myself i would eat them all the next day, but by the time i woke up, the cravings were usually gone and i just ate normal meals/snacks. I lost 30 lbs in about 2 months doing this. I truly loved it. But it got too hard to continue because my husband was still eating everyday and eventually i started cheating and eating things he was cooking. Buying groceries and hanging out with friends and family became hard too. I found i was making a lot of exceptions like "oh im supposed to fast today but its my friends birthday so ill just eat two days in a row and then get back on schedule" but then it was a lot harder to get back on schedule...
I want to try it again, but im afraid of failing yet again.
