I don't like most of the popular villagers simply because everyone has them so I get tired of seeing their design. No hate either or anything but they just feel overused. I prefer my isle to be filled with mostly uncommon villagers, Skye as an exception.

It's weird when it comes to receiving a popular villager. A year ago, Bob was in my campsite (in New Leaf) and I finally convinced him to move in. After that, he moved in (right in front o my house sadly), and after having him walk around for a few months, I thought to myself, "That's it?" I solely wanted Bob because of the memes and his popularity, but didn't have much of a connection as I did w/my other neighbors (such as Tammy the bear cub or Agnus the bull). Once Bob moved away, the town didn't seem to change that much...he kind of felt like a hitchhiker passing through, as if he was still camping in my town.
Here is mine. Now before I begin, 1 thing to say I don't despise any of the villagers on this list (aside from 1), so, please don't try to kill me, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T TRY TO KILL ME!! Um, anyways, with all of that out of the way, let's get onto the list! 5. Genji. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate genji. If anything, he's kinda cool. I like his whole Asian inspired thing. But, if I'm going to be totally honest, that's really all genji has going for him. The reason he's only #5 is because he is the best villager on this list, but he's only ok in my opinion. Moving on. 4. Flurry. It's honestly a shame I don't like flurry because, her name reminds me of McFlurry from McDonald's. But honestly, I just don't like flurry. Now I'm not gonna lie, I don't really like any of the hamster villagers aside from Apple and Clay, but flurry I'm just not a fan. 3. Kiki. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the cat villagers in animal crossing, but kiki is honestly a pretty weak looking cat. She's not terrible, I just think she's kinda creepy. Whitney's not terrible, I'd certainly take her over dobie and kiki, but with that being said though, I'm just not a huge fan of her design. Which is honestly kind of a shame because, I remember I saw a video once where someone recreated that scene from mean girls where Lindsay Lohan first meets the three girls, and Whitney was one of the villagers featured in the video (as Regina George). Also, her name, Whitney, that's the name of the main girl from the Friday the 13th sequel from 2009 (I know a lot of people hate that movie, but I personally love it). But, before you get your pitchforks, let's talk about why I personally think that roald is overrated. Apple I kind of agree with. I don't hate her, but she just looks too generically girly and overly happy for my taste. I prefer Flurry who looks more naturally cute, and Rodney who as I mentioned in my comment of the last video has a lot of personality when it comes to his appearance and I feel like he really doesn't deserve all the hate he gets. He looks flawed, but it makes him a more interesting character and I still find him to be just as adorable as any other hamster.
For me no he is hilarious and I like his little business asthetic . I would never get rid of Raymond he has never given me a problem or annoyed me in any way. Alot of people do like him but I do know about as many people who do not care for him as well .
Apple gives me nightmares literally she has always freaked me out I find her eyes really creepy and a few nights ago I had a dream where Apple chased me with an axe 🪓 🍎
Honestly the only popular villager I don’t like is Judy. Her eyes are kinda gross tbh. I get they’re going for an anime look, but it just didn’t work for me.
my least favorite popular villager is raymond, because he is the one villager who is hyped out over too much, like WAYYY too much. people have started to put fucking maid dresses on him for god's sake -I would rather put marshal in a maid dress than him-
I actually don't like apple because of personal reasons, I have her in my island and it might just be because she is the only peppy I've ever had but I can't have anything expensive on my pockets cause she comes running to ask for it immediately 🙃 also you'll think that her being one of my first 5 means I would have gotten her photo soon but nooo a villager I got after getting her gave me her photo first .
Love Zucker, totally don't mind that he's on your list, but I can't help but disagree with your reasoning 😅 He's designed after takoyaki, which I think is interesting, and a little fucked up.
Good video to make, although it admittedly wasn't very interesting especially compared to the other one. Since I made a list for the other video, I figured I should do the same here. 5. Roald - I like him. He's simple and both his E-reader card and Pocket Camp description suggest he's an actually competent jock. But as much as he is a good starter on my island, I don't particularly find his design to be great or compelling. As soon as I get his photo I think I'm going to move him out if he asks to or a good camper shows up. 4. Merry - I know she is incredibly popular and her fans are all over how cute and sweet. I think the basis for a good villager design is all in her; sweet baby appeal, interesting likes, character, etc. But I find she's pretty overdesigned for me to truly love her as a villager (interestingly, renders of her until NH always omit her double chin, and she outright hides it in her photo in NH, which I think actually adds a lot of depth to her as someone sensitive about her looks, which I think could justify her looks). I don't dislike her but I just prefer Felicity I guess for how much simpler and less cluttered she is. Merry's interior and Pocket Camp profiles are good, though, and that profile's of her surely suggests something. 3. Ketchup - I find her design to be even less compelling and appealing than that of Merry. Her inspiration is clear and genius but I don't think well-executed. She looks baby but uninspired and boring to me. Her Pocket Camp profile is good, though, and reveals a lot about the kind of person she is. It's just that relative to other top-tier villagers I'm not really into her. 2. Dom - Okay, this is seriously going to start some flames here, and he's the highest-ranking villager on this list as of the mid-November poll, but I seriously can't really get myself to love him. I completely understand the appeal of a cute, bright and sweet-looking sheep, but I think his design suffers from much of the same problems as Merry's; he feels overdesigned and overbearing and he doesn't have much character depth to explain or reinforce his appearance. Apart from his interior, which resembles a ranch, he doesn't too have much character in him, and his Pocket Camp profile isn't terribly compelling like others on this list. Again, by no means do I hate or dislike him, as a villager he's just my least favourite out of all the new NH villagers. 1. Apple - Just like you, I've decided to put Apple at last as my least favourite 'popular' villager. Her design is honestly the least compelling of all the villagers on this list and really overbearing on my eyes. Between those wide-open eyes, a tooth sticking out, apple-like cheeks complete with her facial and bodily proportions make a character that while I don't completely dislike, I don't find it to be a tasty fruit to chew. Her design isn't horrible nor bad by any means but it borders on the overbearing 'uncute' cute for me. Her Pocket Camp description is good but not very in-depth I feel. Honestly, I don't find the hamsters in AC to be a species with great villagers. I'm sure it's possible to make a really cute or cool hamster but none but one of them appeals to me that way. Out of the hamsters, if I have to pick one, Clay would be my favourite. He's actually really cool and has an in-depth design backing, but this isn't a 'best villager by species' list nor is this comment short so I'll have to end it somewhere. Again, I have to emphasise I don't despise any of these villagers, I actually like all but Apple to some way, even if I don't like them as a whole, whether it's their design or what I've extracted from. And these villagers definitely do have qualities that are superior over the qualities of the villagers in my favourite unpopular villagers list. Most of these villagers have better PC profiles than Mira's, my favourite unpopular villager, whose profile is basically just a jab at the 'mysterious unknown superhero' trope. I still hugely prefer Mira over all these villagers, though.
