I personally had a hard time wanting to go back to the game when villagers didn't have anything interesting to say, it seems weird to me how quickly they started repeating dialogue compared to new leaf...

Actually, I do remember one of my favorite moments with the villagers being when they would visit my house or I would visit theirs to hang out, I think being able to interact with not only villagers but also other special characters without the expectation of a reward or present is essential for investment on the game, just wanting to hang out with your favorite villager might be enough motivation to open the game once more

Might be the only one with this take but I only disagree with consistent updates. I want a full complete game on release (what’s the point of buying physical if it’s constantly getting updates like Stardew valley)

Might be an unpopular suggestion, no idea, but I would love to be able to play as an animal character. Being able to design your own animal villager would add a lot of customisability and replay potential.

I agree, that would be fun! But I'd rather see that for a spin-off than a main line game

When it came out, people needed and craved going out safely. The repetitive dialogue wasn’t as uncomfortable because we were still exploring so much and seeing just where we could push the boundaries of creativity and connections, but now? It’s repetitive and lacking in terms of prior games (personally I really want a remake of city folk to visit a city, maybe more snotty city animals or normal villagers in cafes)

I agree with this! I love the chess idea with the villagers! New Horizons could've had much more.

When the next Animal Crossing game comes out on the Switch 2😊, the island from Animal Crossing 3DS where players hang out with each other and play minigames together needs to turn back into a thing! I'm part of the group of people who miss it😢. Doing multiplayer with *Animal Crossing New Horizons on the Switch* was futile compared to doing multiplayer in *Animal Crossing New Leaf on the 3DS.* Tortimer island and all of the fun features it had need to make their return in the next Animal Crossing game! _Don't get me wrong: A person's town being an island was a fun concept;_ but I care about other players more than myself. *Letting people visit you is nice, but that being the only way to meet other players is diddly squat compared to also having Tortimor island!*

this might be unpopular but i wish they did an option in the game where the villagers could move out themselves.
Make it like new leaf, stop playing for a long time, villagers will move. But if they're good friends with you, they'll get your opinion on the matter as well and you could choose.
There's no real incentive for me to go back to what is essentially a doll house.

I get that, but I'd be really upset. I worked so hard to get some of them... so many tickets... Dx

    • @SonaArtist
      @SonaArtist 10 месяцев назад

I think the only reason why they stopped them from moving away is because of the ticket system.
If they went back to the new leaf formula of villagers leaving on their own i'm not sure if they'd bring it back because people would get so mad.
OR it would be a setting to allow villagers to make their own choices.
But i dont think Nintendo would give us a choice option@@OakStud

I just wish my villagers would quit guilt tripping me over not playing the game. I think the main reason I haven’t picked up the game in a while is because I’m scared all my villagers hate me now lol.

    • @OakStud

In my experience, that's done after 1 short dialogue per villager. And it's still pretty soft. I remember it being worse in older games :D

@@OakStud Oh it’s better in New Horizons? Now that I think about it, it’s not that surprising. Mainly because the characters have absolutely no personality lol.

I mostly agree with you, but here are some points to consider:
Premise statement: Games are allowed to end. Yes, a game that's being played after eight years is obviously a very good game, but not every game has to be. Additionally, comparing New Leaf plus Welcome Amiibo to New Horizons is not. New Leaf got a major update with Welcome Amiibo after four years, in my memory out of nowhere. Yet, I still didn't play it for all those years. I got it at release, played for some time, and picked it up again after the update. But I didn't even play monthly for 8 years. I think, it's dangerous to say that New Leaf was being played more than New Horizons. Yes, some people played NL 8 years after release, but some people still play NH. Comparing the percentage doesn't help, as many of the NH players just got it because it was part of the Corona Culture.
So, even though I agree that NL is better than NH in many ways, your comparison seems unfair to me.
    1. Story
I don't want a ton of story in my Animal Crossing game. I love lore/back story (e. g. the Able Sisters), but I don't need Stardew Valley like story. I just want a chill life sim. Story always gives me the feeling that I have to play that and I have to see it to a finish, the quicker the better. That's not Animal Crossing to me
Additionally, people would just grind the story as much as they grinded the other aspects of NH. It wouldn't give a lot of longevity imo...
    2. Mini games
    Yeah, I'm a fan
    3. Enhanced Customization
I'm split. Yes, customization is very cool. Yet also kinda overwhelming with too many possibilities and too much to collect. So either more than NH or as "few" as NL
    4. Villager Interactions
YES. Totally agree! More dialog per personality, but maybe also dialog per species.
    5. Even more villagers?
I already had difficulties choosing among the 400 something in NH xD
    6. Multiplayer
Yeah... more minigames. However, to me, multiplayer in NL was more about hanging with online friends. And that carried over well to NH
    7. New villager species
I think it's cool that the special NPCs are of special species. I think, what we have is enough, but I wouldn't care if it was more tbh
    8. Consistent updates
It's just a game. It's allowed to end. They get money once, maybe another time for a DLC. So why should they spend a lot of money on expanding and updating? Plus, many people complained about the game not being finished in March 2020, which is why there were so many updates in the first place.
    9. More villagers
Yes, but then I also need more space. I love to have parks and such. Alternatively, I could imagine that setting a cap for your own town would be a nice idea. You could either make a small village with lots of free spaces, or you could make a "bustling" city. In general though, I'd rather see 16 than 15, due to the 8 personalities.
    10. more shops
Yes. Less checking the town square and hoping for Kicks. Also yes, Nook's mega market!
My additional opinion: Remove cooking and crafting again. It's nice, but for me, it didn't add a lot of fun. Or at least add a lot of Quality of Life...

I feel any easy fix for the repetitive dialogue would be to add more personality types, since almost all the dialogue is tied to that. Even then, instead of just adding new ones you could:
    - Add personality sub-types. Instead of all the cranky villagers acting like old people you could have a sub-type that acts like a younger person or even a child.
    - Or you could make personality fusions, like a Cranky-Jock fusion, for example.
    - Even just making personality types not gender-specific could be interesting. Let there be a male snooty type or a female jock type.

For me the most important thing is the personality of the characters, it would be great if it were more similar to that of the wild world (the characters made you laugh, or they were deep, the animals fought each other) and other things like the constellations, more interaction with certain objects such as being able to ride a bicycle around your island or town, having a pet that follows you
