The FAR most BEST Beta video I've watched! I love how you break all of this down in simple layman's terms so everyone can understand. So much information simply well put! THANK YOU!
This was so informative! Thank you! I'm always monitoring my fish because I lost a fish years ago. I have two now. My male is a picky eater, and only likes me when pellets are involved. Tank cleaning, and water changes offend him, but I can appreciate his love for stillness. My female, eats anything, not shy, seems to enjoy water changes and cleaning, seems curious about anything she sees! (She's my favorite) her tank is more out in the open, and the boy's tank is more tucked away in a corner, with paper to obstruct his view of the busy household. I love my fishes, so I had to overshare!
I’ve been trying to find a video about erratic swimming bc I always get anxious when I see him acting like that. He’ll swim everywhere super fast, he’ll then float, do “front flips”, and then float again. Idk what to do bc this doesn’t feel like happy appropriate behavior
I just got a new betta! I love him and when I first put him in the tank he was swimming down to the bottom. But now he just floats around and looks like he struggles to swim. I’ve had a betta with Swimblatter but I don’t know if my new fish has it.
Thank you so much for all of your efforts! This was exactly what I was looking for in my hour of need! I was so worried about my Gemma 😓 Now I know exactly what I need to do for her! THANK YOU!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’ve noticed my betta sleeping a lot and when he’s awake he’s moving fast and also gets scared when he bumps into anything. I’ve been watching multiple videos trying to figure it out and idk what to do :(
@@douknodawae7805 I agree!! Its no where near easy! It has only been a month and a half since I’ve had a betta and Im panicking because I saw him flash today but he hasnt done since I first got him. 5.5 gallon. Tank’s cycled. Parameters are good. Fish is still eating. Active. Temperature is 78°F. But glass surfs a lot 😫🤌🏻 I know I need plants to hide the reflection, but I cant really do that rn because I’m out of money and my parents told me they’re not buying me any fish things anymore. Maybe he’s bored. I want to try to get him a nerite snail too but I cant. Its just... UUGHHHH Im sorry for the rant btw. Im just overwhelmed. My birthday is coming up so hopefully I get birthday money to get more things for my little boy. Its pretty stressful trying to figure out whats wrong and what I could do but I love him so its okay :)
@@nayla206 not sure if your betta is still doing alright but I would definitely check the water current. There's many methods on line to buffer water flow from the filter and some of them are super cheap! I just use cut out plastic bottle for my hang on back filter.
I bought my 3 month old guy exactly one week back. Until today he was the same as yours... Today he seems sad. Not eating properly. Laying down and not active. Now I'm stressed for my fish T.T.
Hey! I was having some issues with my Betta fish he keeps laying at the bottom of the tank and doesn’t have enough energy to swim at the top and get his food I’ve had him for Over two months I tried looking up everything for what it could be his food the filter the water flow and I have no clue I am really desperate
Very good video Thank you 🙏🏼 for your excellent info...I only wish that you would’ve given some ideas of how to treat the fish… For the specific conditions
Thank you and I’m glad it helped! I would have liked to include that information, but there is SO much info out there if I included it all it would have been way too much information to retain at one time think- I hope to make separate videos on each topic in the future when I have a bit more time to put it all together.
So my Galaxy koi betta was fine yesterday. He’s 5 months old. Today he’s lethargic and totally different fish. I did feed him frozen blood worms last night. Wonder if they were bad?
Males and females should not be housed together unless you are mating them two together, even then the female has to be removed. Males should not be housed together either. Please separate them IF they are being housed together. Also if females are around males (tanks next to each other) they can become egg bound which their belly’s are full of eggs, then reabsorbed back into the body, or you could be over feeding. Just trying to share good info with you. ☺️
The part around the gills or the gills on the side of my daughter's looks like it may have been cut? He's not been active or eating since yesterday. He still will try to swim from being put in the net... that's about it.
i really am not enjoying my fish keeping because male betas never live for more than a few months in my systems but my two female betas havent skipped a beat. all my other tank inhabitants have no issues and i feel awful about it
My betta fish that I have right now is VERY active but I have seen many things saying that he is happy he bright vibrant colors he eats he has long fins but yesterday he was hiding for an hour or two but now he is back swimming around And he has a tiny bit of tangled fins Is he sick?
I have a betta fish, hes two years old he eats well he loves attention but he doesnt swim around that much. He has a 5 gallon tank with 3 ballon mollies
I just lost a Betta last night to dropsy. Water quality was good, he showed no other signs of illness, but within a few hours of me noticing something was wrong, he was gone. Still not sure what happened.
Help help PLLzz, we brought home 2 Bettas a few months ago, recently moved them both to 1.5 gal tanks (we were told this was fine-im learning it's not now ) , but my issue is one which is a bright blue and pink is fading fading FADINGG like white , not those white spots, like very dull and some of the fish itself is turning actual white. Almost as if the colour was "wiped off" if that makes any sense 🤷. I'm really trying to make sure we can try and save him !! Edit: also the tank does have filter and I conditioned the water before hand aswell, he does seem to be swimming pretty crazy , almost like he's trying to get out hitting the walls. I feel like he's deff stressed, but also something else . Seemed to like that tiny little bucket better weirdly, I duno. Plzz someone help
I have had my betta for 7 days exactly. Till day 4 - normal swimming. Wide spread fins Day 5 to 6 - Erractic swimming. Today - Till morning he was erraticly swimming and swam to the side of the tank where I placed my finger on. (I consider that playing) But other than that he was sleeping or laying at the corner of the tank This evening he is dull. Not reacting to my taps on the tank. Not eating his food. Me: Stressed. Please maam or anyone..... Please please help. PS : He is my first... I'm not so experienced. So please advise.
If he’s still alive, did you check your water parameters? If so what are they. If he struggling to swim other than when he’s erratic? Does he float or sink?
@@t_squared3 Thank you sm... He died on day 10... According to seller, he has an heart attack or smtg... It's been over an year now... He is still remembered...
Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Bacteria and antibiotics mostly fall into two groups: gram negative and gram positive. Only a few antibiotics (called broad spectrum) can kill both. You choose an antibiotic to fit the symptoms and type of bacteria you want to kill, it's usually listed on the box what it treats. Common antibiotics are furans, kanaplex, erythromycin, tetracyclines. The fish is usually moved to a different tank for treatment. Parasitic infections needs antiparasitics. There's two kinds of parasites. External parasites live on the skin or gills of the fish. These include protozoans like ich (whitespot) and velvet (makes the fish look gold dusty), which are killed by meds containing malachite green, copper, or formalin. They also include some worms like gill flukes which are killed by meds with formalin, praziquantel, and fenbendazole. Internal parasites live inside the fish and are usually worms like camallanus (red worms sticking out the fish's anus) and are killed with dewormers like fenbendazole or levamisole. Fungal infections can be killed with various treatments. Meds with malachite green, aquarium salt (NOT table salt) or acriflavine can help. Specific diseases: Dropsy needs epsom salt baths and antibiotics (research dosage). Fin rot needs aquarium salt baths (research dosage), indian almond leaves, and clean water. If it doesn't improve they need antibiotics. Bloating can be fixed by not feeding for a day or two, then giving freeze dried daphnia, if it doesn't improve it may require epsom baths or antibiotics if the fish is sick. Just depends. Always follow the directions on the box or bottle and do research to learn if the treatment requires the fish to be moved to a separate tank. And double check anything people tell you, (including me because im not a fish doctor and just recalling things ive read.)
Any one know anything about a betta fish just floating at the top? his eyes are moving, but he kinda twitches or when he floats away from the spot he was just in he swims back to the spot. He hasn't swam to the bottom of the tank either. I just got him. I really hope he isnt passing): I did acclimate him. I'm not sure what's going on. He is also moving his eyes. Please help

so got my red dragon halfmoon male a few weeks back it went through a rough shipment day so my betta was a bit tired for 2/3 days then i started feeding him blood worms alongside pallets but his was not aggresive as my other bettas he did not flare at other fishes or bettas so i thought he was stressed or scared then after a week i introduced my other female red dragon with my new red dragon male who was not flaring and after 1/2 hours of introduction my male red dragon started flaring at the female and the female was also active aggressive so i thought my male is finally active and healthy but after 2/3 days of introduction my male again started to act strange he became kind of lazy he would sit in a corner of his tank and when ever i put my finger near his tank or near him he would just run like crazy but my other bettas never showed this kind of behaviour next day i changed his water but he was acting the same but his was eating everything he ate both pallets and blood worms then his fins started to get smaller his fins were not that big from the begining but that one time when he flared at my female betta only that time his fins were like really big and beautiful but after that day his fins started getting smaller and smaller and now he doesn't even look like a halfmoon male anymore what can i do to make him healthy? i tried methylene blue but i dont think it helped him much
hi there,..i lost my Jasper this morning..he was a beautiful red crowntail male,..i came on utube to see if i could get any answers as to way my Jasper died, and your video was the first one i watched,..for 4 days Jasper had been on 'warp-speed' around his home, and i thought he was just overly active, i feed him once a day and once a month i give him a treat of frozen blood worm, and that was 5 day's ago,.. he always sleeps on top of the plants near the surface as this is his favourite place, but the last few days he has been sleeping down the bottom of the tank in his cave and only coming up to breath, this morning (monday 27th july)..he was nose down among java plants..dead,...so, i am a little sad,.. but watching your video about bloating symptoms and swimming erratically fits how he was!..and yes i really thought he was just hyper-active because a couple of day's ago i gave him his treat of 'blood-worm' but gave him half a cube instead of a third..i wonder if i over-fed him accidentally...there was no other signs (physical) i could see that would cause his death, but his little stomach was larger than usual,.. so, i am thinking i killed him....anyway, thanks for posting your video,..best regards Andy..
An Ping possibly ammonia poisoning? I’m sorry you lost Jasper this way, I ended up losing my GloBetta Neyo this way, so I definitely feel your pain. The only reason I could deduce that I lost him (from what I gathered through the power of a 48 hour straight google search with no sleep) was ammonia poisoning, but I didn’t have a test kit at the time, so there was no way for me to confirm if that was truly the cause or not. So of course, my guess is just hypothetical. I know I’m always the type to like to know the reasons for why though. So if it helps, maybe that might have been what happened? I know ammonia poisoning causes darting across the tanks as well, and gasping for air at the top of the tank. Hmm 🤔 I’m unsure. But again, I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s crazy for me to come across this today though, because I actually just came home from the pet store today, and you’ll never believe what betta I came home with today!!!...... a red crowntail male. 🤯🤯🤯 I’ve been searching for one for about a year now, and I’d almost given up on finding one. And then there he was just sitting on the shelf! And now I came looking for a video on treatment for my other tank of female bettas that aren’t doing very well, and I looked down in the comments section, and came across your comment. How insane!!!!!! What are the odds!?!? I wonder if your Jasper sent me to you to let you know he’s saying hey? 👋🏼😏🐠 Your Jasper has been reincarnated, so I think I’m just going to have to, humbly, name my new red crowntail Jasper, in honor of your little guy. If that’s Okk with you? 😌😌😌 everything happens for a reason man!
@@britwhitis2813 hi Brit thanks for your message, i hope your crowntail gives you lots of pleasure..i did not want another male..but a couple of weeks later i came across this other male at a pet store..he was in a community tank with other different fish..and i noticed he was being harassed and fin-nipped, he was in a sorry looking state!..made me little annoyed seeing him this way, so i bought him home and put him with the one remaining female molly i had left over from Jasper's tank mate..he is doing great and both he and the molly are getting on fine...
Found your channel with almond leaves video, tomorrow I'll go to my fish store and get somes for my pet. Yesterday I was panicking because my betta suddenly have "tail thorn" and getting transparent I was reading that can be color change anything you know about that? I hope with the almond leaves can reduce some stress for my pet, thank you very informative this video I learning a lot with you!
My betta fish that has been with me for a month his bottom fin turned all black and I feed him on a schedule I clean his water when it looks dirty and he has a heater and a filter and I don’t know what to do I add api starter to cycle his tank and ammonia neutralizer and I don’t know what to so
Black fins, especially the tips, are usually a sign of fin rot/melt. Aquarium salt is always your best bet to start with, you can do this two ways: 1tbsp of salt to 1 gallon of water in a SEPARATE CONTAINER (like a bucket, not his tank) and leave him there for 10 minutes, and repeat daily until they are healed. You could also leave AQ salt in his tank at the amount stated on the box- they differ sometimes. This will work quicker, but CAN lead to a resistance, so do this method for only a short period of time so that the bacteria etc don’t become immune. Hope this helps!
my betta fish think i overfeed her because after the day after i feed her she started just being at the top of the tank and she looked bloated and thats when i thought that i really over feed her. now shes moving around every now and then shell come down and look around and go back too her space at the corner of the top of the tank. iam scared too feed her and its been 48 hours should i give her 1 flake of food? im scared i dont want her too die ?
What disease is the betta on the main page suffering from? Some of mine look similar with gills that look hardened and disfigured. One betta eventually could not close her mouth because of it. I can’t find any other pics that look similar to what I’m dealing with.
There are multiple reasons for that 1. They are not eating enough (bettas should be fed. One pellet (1 blood worm, a pinch of flakes) twice a day 2. They do not have enough Oxigin Is your betta fish rapidly breathing? Does it have a whole to breath?
My betta is lethargic, but when he does swim, he swims erratically, anf he can't seem to swim down. He hasn't eaten since Tuesday. I have him in a hospital tank for now.
I came across this video tonight because i think my beta "Sushi" is sick! I do not know if i am freaking out for no reason or what! to me it looks like he has the white skinny poop! he is hanging in the corner of the tank and won't eat! I just noticed this tonight! I do not know what to do or how to add pictures here to get your opinion! I have only had him like 2 weeks! he pulled thru swim bladder and now this! #SaveSushi
my betta just stops moving it stops eating too it also never swims it just stays on the floor it also rubs the kelp and the stuff I think its sick please help me😔😔😔😞😖☹

Yes! Luckily, most of these have treatment with a very high success rate. While there is always the rare cases some common ones can’t be cured, most often they are. Only a couple of these mentioned are very very difficult to treat.
Super helpful Best video so far U Really know ur betta's My Bettas nipping his own tail and is Drooping fins and sits in a Corner deep in my tank Is it a Bacterial infection Plz help I don't want him to die
I've searched everywhere and can't figure out why my betta is deteriorating. His water is always heated exactly the same. His water has always been very clean and since I noticed he's doing poorly, I've been changing it 1/2-3/4 every 2 or 3 days. The water is treated with conditioner and since he's been going downhill, sea salt and the blue liquid. No improvement. Just worse. He has always eaten all his food. He has the same appetite. He has clamped fins. He has damaged fins. I took his fake plants away. Still worse. They are not rotting, though. He is fading horribly but has no velvet or ick. His gills look slightly inflamed and seems like silver or something on the sides?! The past 2 or 3 days He has been lethargic but will come if I call him or to eat. He should not be stressed. He lives alone. No bright lights. Only today my husband started redoing the bathroom and I think the drilling and hammering could bother him so I've brought him to my night stand to be closer to me. He's in a 10 liter aquarium with filter and heater. His poo is normal. Please can anyone help him?
Before you got the fish you are supposed to do research and educate yourself on how to care for it. Had you taken 20 min out of your day to do even the most simple youtube research you would have known: 10 gallon is the minimum amount of water to keep a betta in, every time you change or put chemicals into the water you stress the animal and that a betta should be put in a well cycled (minimum a month) planted tank that doesn't move out of his place (an aquarium is not a purse, you don't carry it along!). Now your animal is sick and instead of educating yourself you comment here for "someone" to help him. YOU are responsible for your animal, you need to help it. Or watch it slowly die, go to the store and start the process again
Fish illnesses are so stubborn and very tricky! It’s all about catching them right away, but often times the symptoms are so subtle or non-alarming that we don’t notice it in time or even treat it incorrectly. Even in my research for this video, I came across SO much information that contradicted other sites, it is a very complicated topic.
stringy clear looking poop can also be a sign of constipation and poor diet, its not 100% exclusive to parasites. Also that " film " texture is usually their slime coat getting messed up which is often caused by parasites or even bacterial infections, i'm surprised you didn't mention that fungus is big white fluffs on the fish, because their slime coat is basically what you described and that's not fungal. there is also a bacterial infection that looks a LOT like fungus to an uneducated person, and treating it as a fungus will not help the fish, its also very quick killing and a major pain in the butt to get rid of. Dropsy also isn't an illness, its a symptom of failing organs, which can be caused by several things including eating plant based foods or veggies which cause the organs damage which is irreversible, and also parasites, its not exclusive to bacterial infections by any means. Tumors also aren't a part of any bacterial infection, if they are not actually tumors, they are a viral disease called lymphocystis, that's not bacterial either and tumors aren't caused by illness, they are genetic and is most common in dragons/platinums, them having a tumor does not mean they are sick. Bloating can also be from a poor diet and cold water, the colder the water the slower their metabolism, which makes them digest food more slowly causing compaction. flake food is actually the number one cause of bloat because its such poor quality. bloating can also be from internal tumors or a female being ridiculously eggy, which isn't that abnormal if the female is healthy. Labored breathing is usually not a good sign and something is wrong whether it be stress or illness, gill flukes which is a parasite has this symptom for example, its too small to see as well so that's something you gotta look into with that symptom.
Thanks for your comment! You went a lot more in detail than I did, but the video would have been impossibly long (and probably boring lol) if I had gone into any more detail. I also have other videos both uploaded currently and planned in the future that go into these a little bit further. Now to address some of your critiques: I didn’t address the “fuzzy” appearance you mention because it DOES look so similar to the bacterial infection Cottonmouth I’m assuming your talking about- and I didn’t want people getting confused. I certainly couldn’t address every little sign, there are simply too many. I couldn’t go into every little cause or symptom, nor did I focus on cures (this is in regards to the part you mentioned of bloating- all of which were true). I did research quite a lot for this video and of course referenced multiple websites which were NOT Wikipedia lol, and all seemed to have slightly different information, so I couldn’t include all of the “buts”. It is also where I found the “film” parts mentioned quite a few time’s as fungal, and the Lymphocystis being bacterial. Some sites say one thing and another says something else, and I had to use my best judgement- let’s be honest, fish are complicated (so many symptoms repeat). I approached this video as if people knew absolutely nothing on the subject of illness, something teachers often tell us to do in essays back in high school. As far as your tumour critique, I specified bumps on the whiteboard but said tumours in the video- maybe I shouldn’t have used “tumours” as the verbal word I used so loosely, as it’s true not all bumps are tumours. BUT I was addressing it as a generalization (like benign vs malignant I guess), so apologies for the confusion. I know that tumours aren’t a caught illness. I did mention genetics at the very beginning of the video, it was very quick so maybe you missed it. To me personally, an illness/sickness doesn’t have to be like an infection for it to be a disease. For example, I have celiac “disease”, and that is an autoimmune condition, not a sickness I caught. So I unfortunately can not agree with your statement that a tumour doesn’t mean your fish is sick, but it’s certainly ok to agree to disagree! From polls I had posted on my Instagram, all of the responses did say their fish passed due to their tumours, so I included it for that reason- there was, however, always a risk of inaccurate results due to the statistical flaws of convenience surveys and non-responses. As far as your last point, in the video I did state laboured breathing was a sign of stress and that any and all of those signs should be watched carefully. Just thought I’d clarify as maybe you missed that part! It was RIIIGHT at the very end. Overall, you make some really good points and further explain some things I wasn’t able to go into detail. While some things I did get different results in my research than you mention (I didn’t just wing it lol), I do know that I intentionally left some things out of my videos and provided some simpler generalizations to make it easier for a non-experienced fishkeeper to understand, especially with a lack of visuals- I didn’t want to just grab pictures from google, so therefore was limited to mine and my small handful of Instagram followers’ input.
Yeah i was thinking about Columnaris, i meant to put the name but had a derp moment haha. but honestly i think its important to mention that it can be either and identify the visual differences, which is why i said what i said, if you showed the two side by side you could probably make it easy for people to understand, because while they do look similar there are also some differences like how columnaris is also the body, its not just fluff on the body, under the fluff usually has a wound like looking appearance with obvious discoloration especially if its a severe case and the length and density of the fluff is different, fungal fluff is usually longer and less dense looking. people see fluff and automatically assume fungus, i didn't know what columnaris was for the longest time and since its so fast killing can't waste time trying out different treatments :0 I did hear the part about saying some problems people have can be from genetics, but the way it was brought up made it seem like you were saying they are developed tumors from being sick, with genetics, they can easily get sick more than others due to heavy inbreeding and breeding unhealthy fish, which result in even more unhealthy fry, but that bit of info has a broad spectrum, and didn't seem like it was implied towards any specific thing as well as tumors being mentioned in the bacterial section of your board. a tumor is something your body grows, its basically no different from a mole which can also become cancerous. i wouldn't call someone sick for developing a random tumor unless it became cancerous as that is an actual medication condition while a general growth technically is not. having a growth doesn't mean you are sick unless it is actually effecting their health like lymphocystis or an abscess would. as for the breathing i was mainly just saying it can also be from parasites, agreeing it can be bacterial or stress related, but parasites could also be a cause, so if its a continuous thing that specific behavior/ should be looked into more closely as well if things like tank parameters and stresses are already checked into and it doesn't stop. P:
Pardon my honesty... but why are you talking about all those poor fish diseases with such a huge, delightful smile and almost as if you're talking about something happy and positive??!! As if it's a joyful topic....
My attempt was to not be depressing and trying to uplift the subject, sorry if it came across differently. I don't do heavy topics very often. I did a couple videos in the past with a sad tone, and I tried softening it for this one by acting "normal".
depending on how the eye looks, it could be a couple of things. eye cloud is one, but could also be diamond eye which is not an illness, its a genetic disorder where the scales start to grow over the eyes which eventually renders them blind. they both can look pretty similar as well
The FAR most BEST Beta video I've watched!
Fish are interesting pets, it’s hard not to talk about them! I evidently enjoy doing it a lot 😂
I’m so 😊😊
You have the gift of teaching 🐇

So informative and you are stunning
Idk what it is about left handers.
The wisdom they carry is amazing (:

Any updates?

Maybe he’s bored. I want to try to get him a nerite snail too but I cant. Its just... UUGHHHH
Im sorry for the rant btw.

Hey, I wonder if your betta is already okay? I'm experiencing the same situation.
I’m having the same issue! Did you ever figure it out?
Having the same problem

Very good video
Thank you 🙏🏼 for your excellent info...I only wish that you would’ve given some ideas of how to treat the fish… For the specific conditions
Wonder if they were bad?
thank you for helping me
I’m happy it helped!
hi, iso i bought one betta it had a belly when i got it, now all my betta have a belly not sure if all are pregnat cause i have a boy too
So it could be bc they are being over fed or something serious
Males and females should not be housed together unless you are mating them two together, even then the female has to be removed. Males should not be housed together either. Please separate them IF they are being housed together. Also if females are around males (tanks next to each other) they can become egg bound which their belly’s are full of eggs, then reabsorbed back into the body, or you could be over feeding. Just trying to share good info with you. ☺️
How long does it take fore the Betta to recover, mine has been sick for 3-4 days now
What is white flakes in water? 🐠 🐟. Even with proper water change.
The part around the gills or the gills on the side of my daughter's looks like it may have been cut?
He's not been active or eating since yesterday.
He still will try to swim from being put in the net... that's about it.
i really am not enjoying my fish keeping because male betas never live for more than a few months in my systems but my two female betas havent skipped a beat. all my other tank inhabitants have no issues and i feel awful about it
My betta fish that I have right now is VERY active but I have seen many things saying that he is happy he bright vibrant colors he eats he has long fins but yesterday he was hiding for an hour or two but now he is back swimming around
And he has a tiny bit of tangled fins
Is he sick?
My fish has a bump growing on the side of him and I don’t know if it’s cancerous or it’s an infection I’m really scared for him
I have a betta fish, hes two years old he eats well he loves attention but he doesnt swim around that much. He has a 5 gallon tank with 3 ballon mollies
when i got her she was small it looks like she grew a little but not much so can youu tell me when i should fed her its been 48 hours..
Precious 🐠 has a like fin rot. ✔️👍🤪
Not sure if my betta has ich . She has a lot of white spots on her chest area but it looks nothing like pictures I’ve seen of it
thanks for the video! 👍
I just lost a Betta last night to dropsy. Water quality was good, he showed no other signs of illness, but within a few hours of me noticing something was wrong, he was gone. Still not sure what happened.
I’m sorry:(
Sorry for your loss ☹
Very informative.thanks a lot ❤️
I have had my betta for 7 days exactly.
Till day 4 - normal swimming. Wide spread fins
Day 5 to 6 - Erractic swimming.
Today - Till morning he was erraticly swimming and swam to the side of the tank where I placed my finger on. (I consider that playing)
But other than that he was sleeping or laying at the corner of the tank
This evening he is dull.

And how do you treat all of these issues ?
Any one know anything about a betta fish just floating at the top? his eyes are moving, but he kinda twitches or when he floats away from the spot he was just in he swims back to the spot. so got my red dragon halfmoon male a few weeks back it went through a rough shipment day so my betta was a bit tired for 2/3 days then i started feeding him blood worms alongside pallets but his was not aggresive as my other bettas he did not flare at other fishes or bettas so i thought he was stressed or scared then after a week i introduced my other female red dragon with my new red dragon male who was not flaring and after 1/2 hours of introduction my male red dragon started flaring at the female and the female was also active aggressive so i thought my male is finally active and healthy but after 2/3 days of introduction my male again started to act strange he became kind of lazy he would sit in a corner of his tank and when ever i put my finger near his tank or near him he would just run like crazy but my other bettas never showed this kind of behaviour next day i changed his water but he was acting the same but his was eating everything he ate both pallets and blood worms then his fins started to get smaller his fins were not that big from the begining but that one time when he flared at my female betta only that time his fins were like really big and beautiful but after that day his fins started getting smaller and smaller and now he doesn't even look like a halfmoon male anymore what can i do to make him healthy? i tried methylene blue but i dont think it helped him much
hi there,..i lost my Jasper this morning..he was a beautiful red crowntail male,..i came on utube to see if i could get any answers as to way my Jasper died, and your video was the first one i watched,..for 4 days Jasper had been on 'warp-speed' around his home, and i thought he was just overly active, i feed him once a day and once a month i give him a treat of frozen blood worm, and that was 5 day's ago,.. he always sleeps on top of the plants near the surface as this is his favourite place, but the last few days he has been sleeping down the bottom of the tank in his cave and only coming up to breath, this morning (monday 27th july)..he was nose down among java plants..dead,...so, i am a little sad,.. but watching your video about bloating symptoms and swimming erratically fits how he was!..and yes i really thought he was just hyper-active because a couple of day's ago i gave him his treat of 'blood-worm' but gave him half a cube instead of a third..i wonder if i over-fed him accidentally...there was no other signs (physical) i could see that would cause his death, but his little stomach was larger than usual,.. so, i am thinking i killed him....anyway, thanks for posting your video,..best regards Andy..
Your Jasper has been reincarnated, so I think I’m just going to have to, humbly, name my new red crowntail Jasper, in honor of your little guy.

Precious is a Glow type Betta
@@BetterBetta thank you I will try

Hi is you Betta survived?
Just got mine a week ago I bought 2. 1 my betas are feeding well while the other doesn't eat thnx for the tips
What disease is the betta on the main page suffering from? Some of mine look similar with gills that look hardened and disfigured. One betta eventually could not close her mouth because of it. I can’t find any other pics that look similar to what I’m dealing with.
There are multiple reasons for that
1. They are not eating enough (bettas should be fed. One pellet (1 blood worm, a pinch of flakes) twice a day
How to treat this illness and infections?

I dont think my betta is sick but he will twitch his head randomly then go back to acting normal
Can any of these be treated?
Yes! Luckily, most of these have treatment with a very high success rate. While there is always the rare cases some common ones can’t be cured, most often they are. Only a couple of these mentioned are very very difficult to treat.
I think my Brucie may have ich. The white spots. What should I use to cure it.
Really infromative. Great job. Now do you have anything on treatment?

I don't want him to die
He is stressed or he is old
R.I.P peppermint and maybe sapphire???
I have had a few betta fish who have died from those.😢
Fish illnesses are so stubborn and very tricky! It’s all about catching them right away, but often times the symptoms are so subtle or non-alarming that we don’t notice it in time or even treat it incorrectly. Even in my research for this video, I came across SO much information that contradicted other sites, it is a very complicated topic.
@@BetterBetta I also had a betta that was not doing very well then I put him in my filtered tank and he lived like a few more days
breathing rapid could also mean lack of o2
This is true! There are many symptoms of things that overlap- which is why identifying illnesses can be tricky sometimes.
My betta fish is white, so I really hope he doesn’t get ick, otherwise, I will not be able to see it 😬
Don't worry, they are 3D dots, you will see them 😊
It also sparkles a little. There's a good reason people say it looks like salt crystals.

Nice 💜💙💚💛🧡❤💜💙💚💛🧡❤
stringy clear looking poop can also be a sign of constipation and poor diet, its not 100% exclusive to parasites.
Yeah i was thinking about Columnaris, i meant to put the name but had a derp moment haha. but honestly i think its important to mention that it can be either and identify the visual differences, which is why i said what i said, if you showed the two side by side you could probably make it easy for people to understand, because while they do look similar there are also some differences like how columnaris is also the body, its not just fluff on the body, under the fluff usually has a wound like looking appearance with obvious discoloration especially if its a severe case and the length and density of the fluff is different, fungal fluff is usually longer and less dense looking. people see fluff and automatically assume fungus, i didn't know what columnaris was for the longest time and since its so fast killing can't waste time trying out different treatments :0
I did hear the part about saying some problems people have can be from genetics, but the way it was brought up made it seem like you were saying they are developed tumors from being sick, with genetics, they can easily get sick more than others due to heavy inbreeding and breeding unhealthy fish, which result in even more unhealthy fry, but that bit of info has a broad spectrum, and didn't seem like it was implied towards any specific thing as well as tumors being mentioned in the bacterial section of your board. a tumor is something your body grows, its basically no different from a mole which can also become cancerous. i wouldn't call someone sick for developing a random tumor unless it became cancerous as that is an actual medication condition while a general growth technically is not. having a growth doesn't mean you are sick unless it is actually effecting their health like lymphocystis or an abscess would.
as for the breathing i was mainly just saying it can also be from parasites, agreeing it can be bacterial or stress related, but parasites could also be a cause, so if its a continuous thing that specific behavior/ should be looked into more closely as well if things like tank parameters and stresses are already checked into and it doesn't stop. P:
Very good

Pardon my honesty... but why are you talking about all those poor fish diseases with such a huge, delightful smile and almost as if you're talking about something happy and positive??!! As if it's a joyful topic....
My attempt was to not be depressing and trying to uplift the subject, sorry if it came across differently. I don't do heavy topics very often. I did a couple videos in the past with a sad tone, and I tried softening it for this one by acting "normal".
there's a caterpillar on top of your glasses on the left side lol
7 years of videos and I still don’t know why that eyebrow moves so much lol 😂
weird timing. i just noticed that my betta has one cloudy eye.
depending on how the eye looks, it could be a couple of things. eye cloud is one, but could also be diamond eye which is not an illness, its a genetic disorder where the scales start to grow over the eyes which eventually renders them blind. they both can look pretty similar as well
