YOU SAVED MY BETTA!!!! I'm a new betta owner and started with a bowl with rocks, a moss ball, and a snail. The water stayed murky all of the time though I was literally cleaning it 3 to 5 times a week. So I bought a one gallon filtered tank after two months and his fin looked shredded randomly one morning so I landed on this video in my research. I have the betta, the snail, the moss ball, added a live plant, got the heater, got the almond leaf and my betta just dashes all over the place and his colors are GLOWING. He looks incredible and is obviously happy as can be. Before he would just sulk and honestly looked dead 24/7. You made a huge impact on my betta's life and I truly appreciate it. I just signed and shared that petition! I have been wanting this change forever and I was so happy to see a petition for this finally! I literally just bought a female for my male yesterday and I was just telling my b.f how happy it makes me to rescue a betta and put them in a proper tank! It warms my heart to see these fish sooo happy to have space! I hope I can up the signatures by sharing on my f.b
My lfs keep their bettas in cups BUT they put individual lights over them and air hoses in each little cup and the water is usually always clean. My betta has a 2.5 gal sponge filtered and heated (to 78 degrees) tank. It was cycled way before I put him in it. My dad was big in the fish keeping hobby most of my life growing up and so thankfully I was pretty educated. My bettas fins have gotten so beautiful over the time I’ve had him. He’s a veiltale and didn’t have finrot but they just look so much healthier now
Try a moss ball and live plants! Also my betta loves my snail. I got a big blue mystic I think they are called? He hangs out by it all the time. That or the almond leaves.
Same. Water parameters are good, temp is good, started with a round of medicine, did the aquarium salt, none have helped. Hoping these IAL do the trick coz it's just getting worse no matter what I do 😔
just put it in a wide container with 4-inch deep water. salt bathe the fish with meth blue dip for 15 sec. do it every other day for 5 days. if the fish gets healthier within a week stop the process and put the fish in its regular tank and put at least 5 leaves of Indian almond. after 3 days remove the leaves and change the water up to 50 percent. after you change the water put another set of leaves. change the leaves when you change the water. and don't forget the salt. 1tblspn per 5 gallons. to avoid at least 90% of common fish diseases always put salt and Indian almond leaves. our betta in the Philippines rarely gets sick. We don't even use filters here.
What does it mean when you say to make sure your aquarium is properly cycled? Sorry for such a dumb question but recently a Betta was dropped in my lap unexpectedly and I have to become a betta expert overnight.
So glad I came home yesterday because my betta was in rough shape. He was completely fine when I left but when I came back his beautiful red tail looked like his tail was bit and torn he was also floating straight up too. I put him in a different type of water to see if that would help, it did. He's swimming more which is a bit weird. I have another betta in that tank and she is completely fine, they don't fight because I have them separated in the water. I saw it could be because another fish could have a disease or something. Hopefully that's not the problem but I won't be putting him back in there.
My tanks ammonia level is at 0. I do tend to transfer my betta out his tank to clean it as it does get dirty and humid due to my houses heat. Could that be the issue for my betta?
Hi Luke! I know you aren’t a vet but I have a 1 1/2 year old betta and he’s not doing too well…. He’s sitting at the bottom of the tank, he looks a lot smaller, he isn’t eating as much. I just dont know what to do and it’s making me really upset. Should I do a water change?! To me it looks a bit like fin rot bc his fins look a lot different. Also his water isn’t looking that great either. I just did a test. He’s not looking too great Thank you!
My betta has been sick for a while. Last week we noticed a clamped Back fin. Recently learned He was in a tank way too small, 1.5 gallons. On Sunday, I put him in a 10 gallon tank, a couple live plants, dim lighting, places to hide, almond leaves, super calm filter, 77/78 degrees, just turned it up to make it even warmer. Adding Beneficial bacteria stuff for the past three days to cycle tank. Ammonia is 0ppm. But he doesn’t seem to be improving. Still very sluggish and fin is clamped. There is also 1/2 tablespoon aquarium salt in the aquarium. Which I can tell the plants don’t like. He’s been in The aquarium for 4 days now. I think his fins might be getting worse. What should I do? He is eating great. So that’s a plus.
@@NiomiBlossom hi, his clamped fin got much better, just took some time. Unfortunately he was immune compromised for too long, and has dropsy now. But we are keeping him as happy as possible for as long as possible with a salted hospital tank, daily 50% water changes, and as many fruit flies as I can find.
My Betta was ok until I put almond leaves in the tank . Within 45min it was at the bottom of the tank breathing heavy and I honestly thought that was it . So I took out the leaves . He seems to be a bit back to normal. The tank is 3.5 gallons with filter and heater. Please can I have some guidance? Thank you
I'm from Philippines IDK how to find an almond leaf so I gathered some guava leaf and boiled it for minutes I allowed it to cool and put it in my betta tank I left it for week and the fin rot of my betta is gone
Hey, I was wondering if there is a forum or something where we can ask questions. My betta’s name is Blue and he has a bit of mysterious black spotting but no fin deterioration. It would be a great help if I could send a photo of him to get some advice! Thanks.
Me too! I can't figure out if my fish is biting or if it's fin rot. I tend to worry a lot so when I saw that he was constipated I automatically thought he's dying because he has swim bladder disease and fish rot, but I was determined to try to save him. I isolated him and did not feed him for 3 days and gave him a cooked pea... I did a 80% water change because I didn't know what to do, but I knew that he did not have swim bladder disease. However he still had fin rot or he was biting his tail. He is a double tail half Moon and was in bad condition when I bought him. Although the conditions were bad he did not have been right nor was he biting his tail so I was very upset when I put him in my tank and within a month I started seeing him behind the filter. I would notice his tail would get pulled in the filter. He didn't seem to mind, but I woke him up every time I saw him. I've watched 15 to 50 videos. I bought medicine that I have now been told was not good. This was my daughter's fish and I really don't have a large budget so the only thing left is the Indian almond leaves and aquarium salt. If anyone has any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong, please let me know because I have become attached to this little fish and I just want to see him doing well. I'm scared to do water changes because he's fine and stays out staring at me. Yesterday I did a 30% water change after the medication and he doesn't lay on his hammock, hides under his bridge and is somewhat laying on the rocks now. I've had him 3 months and sometimes he seems lethargic and sometimes he does not at all. I just know his tail is completely different from my first picture of him the first day we got him. Others have told me that he was possibly sick when I bought him but his tummy is back to normal. Oh one more important thing is he doesn't seem to be eating. So he may be eating when I'm not watching because I don't find leftover food but my main concern is fin rot or if he's biting his fins why? I want to send in a picture because I cannot tell the difference when looking at other videos. I also heard double tell half moons did this a lot. He's in a three gallon tank, but I have plenty of hiding spaces and plenty of open spaces for him so he's not overcrowded. During the week we're so busy that I don't have time to think about it but I find myself doing something different every weekend. There is so much conflicting information or reasons that I am just happy that he has lived for 3 months, but the only thing that has changed is he does not hide behind the filter. I don't know if he's sick and hurting or if I'm being paranoid. I'm just not happy thinking it's just him biting his tail because I don't want him to be sad or stressed. Hopefully the Indian almond leaves will help and since he's the only beta I can do the aquarium salt. It's so odd because I had a betta when I was 13 and did not do any of this and he lived for 5 years. I have no idea why I feel like this one is dying every weekend.
My fish, Minecraft Steve, needs help. He’s always confused. He started losing color. Now all his reds and blues are gone. He’s just pale (he was a pale beta with blue and pink/red fins.) I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong with him. I do need to get a heater, but I’m not sure about the filter which is causing the top of the water to ripple and possibly cause him stress. I live in a small house so there’s not a lot of room and my mom doesn’t understand the joy of fish keeping, so it’s all up to me to buy my fish what he needs because my mom thinks a tiny 3 gallon and base-level equipment is enough, and anything more is too much for a fish. She says “it’s just a fish your going a overboard. You care so much about it ITS A FISH.” So yeah. I don’t know what to do. I’m gonna have to buy him some medicine but I’m not sure if I can spend the money to get him everything else he needs. I’m just rambling now but if anyone has any advice please don’t hesitate to share
