It's weird, I really dislike that album, to me every song sounds like a bunch of random forgettable riffs that barely go together, at the same time "All Nightmare Long" is my all time favourite Metallica song which has a similar experimental structure to some of the other songs I don't like. Music is strange, we all hear it differently.
i've been a fan since the late 80s. and Death Magnetic is the best album since And Justice For All, better than the Black album (as a whole), better than load, re-load, unload, loaded, re-load 2, pre-load, loads, heavy load, St. Angry, and even hardwired( i thought that was a decent attempt to sound heavier, and sounds weak songwise).
Right? The whole band feels tight. But Ulrich especially. ✊ Then again, maybe it’s the ”club vibe”, I’m not sure he can control himself when the stadiums open up… 😜

It seems like the only two songs from Death Magnetic they remember is Cyanide and Day That Never Comes. One would also say Unforgiven III but I don't see them playing it much in the future.
I think they do, but they play more of the older songs as they are the ones that are most loved by the fans. Also it wouldn't surprise me if its like an habit that dies hard. This is just a guess from me. I agree, they should play more of these type of songs.

Death Magnetic is such a good record. All the songs are instantly recognizable, they are diverse, complex, catchy, memorable. Hardwired is 90% based off the same 0-3-5-6 bluesy metal guitar riff, you hear it in nearly every single song. DM is much more adventurous by comparison, and I think all the better for it. I hope they experiment with some weird stuff on the next album.
Good? An average record with some good tracks( thats was, cyanide, nightmare..) and some absolutly laughable ( the unforgiven 234😁, rhe instrumental that should not be, the fade to black/one ripp off...). And of course an absolute awful mixing. So...
