For some reason I was under the impression that this era was a low point in their live show quality, but apparently I was extremely mistaken. They sound fucking incredible
Same! I need to stop listening to other people's opinions on metallica and just see these things for myself
Rushing too much in every song. Creep and harvey are unrecognizable in those insane tempos.
@@victorbicudo1374 I feel like this tour had a punk vibe to it with the timing...I saw this concert tour in NYC and I remember thinking it felt much faster than previous shows I had been to
Me too. I had in my mind a 2004 one of weakest era with 93-94 years. But after I watched this one I have to say it was really great show.
@@jaylong4705 this makea the song sloppy. I prefer the tightness from 91 and 96
When the band has this much energy it's insane. Lars and James look like they're having so much fun
55:54
Funny see Lars playing Dyers Eve - a song about toxic parenthood - with his firstborn son Myles jumping happy near the drums. Man, I Love Metallica family!
Ч
I thought it was about toxic double bass.

@NPC -30 yeah, I know lyrics since was a kid too, but i tried to put emphasis in "father" size because was really a beautiful moment between father and son when band plays such a hard song with a deep meaning lyrics.

2:08:37 Fun fact: He's referring to Robert Trujillo. He wanted to dig that song up and play it live.
Funny how the camera switches to Rob as James is talking about it
Oh wow third german show on MetallicaMondays and the second one from Munich... they've really been good to us german fans :D Also fun to finally get a St. Anger era show, that tour has been really underrated setlist-wise I feel.

We need the Tucson, AZ show because that set list was great
Cliff Big Dick ah. Yes. Good thinking. I bet that’s how it’s been for a lot of these. The only repeat we’ve had is WorldWired. I think we’re due for the next two albums: Magnetic & Wired soon too.

@Foo Fighter Boy u want Lars to die?
Lucas Gugli heart attack material lmao
@Foo Fighter Fantastic and amazing.
43:24 I love how James lets out that screeching, ear-piercing scream, and then towards the end he’s like “oh shit, not supposed to be doing that,” and then goes back into a normal scream. Not gonna lie the first time I heard that I was so surprised I legit thought it was Lars screaming for a second.
I love how James at 1:12:31 accidentally starts singing the first verse and then tries to fix it with mumbling something and eventually just laughs it off.
They should play The Unnamed Feeling more often. I love that song.
EDIT: Sweet Amber deserves a mention as well.
EDIT: Sorry if I pissed anyone off, thinking that these songs were in the setlist. I was saying what they should play in the future.
That song is💪100
Best song on St.Anger I scene them do it live badass🤘🤘🤘🤘
Unnamed feeling is probably my favorite song on St. Anger. Such raw emotion and power. Metallica at their best imo
Some Kind the Monster...
Unnamed Feeling, Sweet Amber, and All Within My Hands are my favorites from St. Anger but I'm one of those fans that likes all of St. Anger regardless of all the shit it gets from most people
My dad got me tickets for this Concert when i was 14 years old. In 2024, 20 years later i will be there again for Metallica with him.
Hey brother what was it like to be there! It looks like it wasn't too packed sadly but I guess that would make it feel more intimate and special haha
Same here, only I was 16 and the tickets didnt come from my father.
Definitely the best live version of "Fuel" I have ever seen! Totally on fire! Lars sure is pumping those kicks and toms in the pre-choruses. Man!
Dale Lyons yeah man! I was watching it and was like “damn i havent seen lars jam like this in a long time!”
Same
Word. It's silly when others bash on Lars, the man's a beast in his own unique way. After all, he is the drummer of Metallica.
@@MrJeezus yeah, i think hes cocky and pretty basic, but then again hes created some insane beats alongside some of the best metal songs... and the cockyness? well he is in Metallica lol

I think the 2004-2006 sound they have was one of the best, everything was on point. Including their performance ofc, which has always been on point.
Add 2003. They were monsters in England that year
2007 - 2010 saw them in Moscow 3 times and St Petersburg. It was outsnading.
46:16 robert forgets to sing and james' reaction 😍
because he is a very lame singer. Jason Newsted was MUCH better in every way.
Yes he may not be very good at singing but Metallica hired a bassist and Rob is WAY better than Jason at playing
@@AMCheesecake64 I don't think so. Jason is more multifunctional - he can sing and play bass without looking on the bass. But Robert can. He is just hired bassist, not real and essential part of Metallica, like Jason was.
Yes he may be able to play bass and sing but he’s a bassist and he doesn’t need to and Rob play more technical song like Orion and Pulling Teeth and It’s nothing personal I just like Rob’s play the best
@@AMCheesecake64 he doesn't need to? Every band has second vocalist. And James could rely on Jason when his voice was tired. But now, he can't. We had Metallica with bassist like Lemmy Kilmister. Now we have the biggest metal band with two lame vocalist and old tired James. This is fucking awesome! And I really hate Rob's dresses and crab walking and ape faces. So fucking weird in Metallica! While Jason, he was the man, the beast, the bassist, the vocalist, with a lot of energy.
The best Metallica was 1981 - 2001. Now it's just a copy and paste band.
And watch Creeping death in this concert. So fucking lame!!!
The band is so on point here! You can feel the energy! The sound and the footage are absolutely amazing! Cheers to the camera crew here!
Nice to see James not asking if Munich was still alive
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Scary to see time passing by so quickly.
Yes friend I was in IRAQI Freedom WAR when this concert happen
Loved the St Anger art, t-shirt designs, etc.!
this night, Germany was blessed with pure emotional raw energy
DAMNNN these versions of Frantic and St Anger are some of the best they ever did, just pure energy.
St Anger is easily in my top 3 favourite Metallica albums. It’s just raw, unapologetic metal - just needed some guitar solos
Agreed, it's completely different in every way
I like St anger live, but man I need to know your list?
other 2 are load and reload?
Its a nu metal album nu metal never has solos
personally i like dirty window.
After 15 years later last year, on 23rd of August 2019, I was in the Metallica concert in the same stadium and there was no empty place. This best metal band of history growing year by year, just like aged wine
I travelled from Australia to be at that gig as well, was an awesome night!
Travelled from Vancouver island to be there haha
@@GlazeeeeI’m from bc too. Are you travelling to any cities to see them this tour?
Good thins about at anger was the tour setlist: blackend, damage inc and dyers Eve same night? Awesome
Angry set list
You spelt blackened wrong
Extremesour Scott
You spelled “spelt” incorectly.
If only they played Disposable Heroes....
And James Voice sounds good
Saw them 2 days after this gig; 15 june 2004, Belgrade, Serbia. Really cool to see another pro-shot video of the Euro 2004 tour - the only others I remember seeing were Lisbon 4 june, and Bremen 16 june (incomplete). So thanks for this.
this show was absolutely INSANE, lost my voice singing along
I like how at 2:09:33, Rob rubs his hands like: “Alright, here we go, my hands are going to die.”
if metallica ever play fight fire/whiplash/damage inc/battery/blackened and dyers eve all in the one show it will be one hell of a night for me these are metallica best songs short and fast
How come I’ve never heard of this concert. This is actually such an amazing concert!
This was an underrated era for Metallica gigs. Remember watching the 2003 Rock Am Ring in college and then many years later reading an interview with Scott Ian in Guitar World where he talked about how sick that live show was.... so many people have come around to St. Anger since then! \m/ Enjoy this history, there aren't many bands that have come out in the last 10 years that you'll still be rocking out to 30 years later...
James looks so f*cking good omg
Anyone catch James laughing mid lyric after Kirk's vocals around 39:30? Lmao.
Insanely good setlist! Love to see Dyers Eve and Damage Inc on the same show along with Blackened opening and St Anger live!
...and justice for all was as close to ‘04 as we now are to ‘04
35:00 - Wild James Hetfield can't control the YEAH.
Love It.
The last few 00's shows have all sounded amazing. Jim Monti is the boss. Heavy and crisp!

IMO...St. Anger should be played at every show. That Munich performance was insane!
Fuck yea
@Foo Fighter ....weakest album my ass...obviously you don't play guitar....
@Foo Fighter st anger weak? What?!
I was born in Munich, but since 1993 I live in Mexico and saw them live here some years ago. One of the best bands for me. Saludos!
This was my first Metallica show and tour. Madly In Anger With The World Tour. September 4th, 2004. Lubbock, TX.
Wish they would’ve played more tracks off of st. anger...!
Me too!!!
Was really hoping to hear Dirty Window live
Yeah i hate solos
I was hoping for a good quality version of the unamed feeling
@@i.lxxiii4744 jokes aside, frantic live solo is shit
No matter what era, I find myself on Seek And Destroy singing Jason's "motherfuckers runnin!" line from the Woodstock 99 performance.

I’ve actually grown to like St Anger over time.
I can’t… it’s so bad… the drumming is way too fucking loud. If the drums were quieter I’d prolly like it but the trash cans get a lil annoying
I have too. But the drums can be a lil annoying at some times, but I like it a lot more than I used to. There’s a good amount of vocals in there that are heavily underrated
@@Basement_Bro agreed that's why I love to hear them play songs live from the album. I have grown to really dig it but the drums are just so hard to get passed. And I don't like the feeling of having to try to not concentrate on an aspect....either way, Metallica is awesome I know we can all agree on that
@@thecroissantsquad4284 like how someone did and justice for cliff someone should somehow edit the drums...Lars would probably sue
I like St. Anger more than Kill 'Em All, HtSD and maybe Reload.
This set was amazing. Caught them twice on this tour, and in Dublin few days after this. OH to be 16 again
Life long fan since 1987 at the tender age of 5,CLIFF EM ALL! and garage days re revisited was my exposure to this band. I'm 38 now. Say what you want...MetallicA still to this day still rocks. Picture next to my comments is me at the Denver show on 6/7/17.
Saint anger is very underrated, it to bad other people don’t like it I’m glad I saw that tour twice , got to be in first row in Detroit
AWESOME, this was the first tour that I ever saw Metallica and haven't missed a tour since.
Kirks intro solo on fade to black liberally reduced me to tears. Phenomenal effort guys
I WAS THERE❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Metallica! ♥️🤘
Lars killed it on Damage Inc. You could tell he went to 150/100 on that. Damn!!!!
lars❤
Lars was killin it on the Madly in Anger dates between 2003 and 2005. Honestly feels like this was his personal 1989 “comeback” performance-wise.
I'm a total fanboy and love everything they do but this is just lie. :D
Watch cunning stuns
I agree man, he was a monster on those tours!
hmico mmm. he does this thing where he gets amped after recording a new record and plays really great for the first couple years on the tour after. his playing after death magnetic came *close* but still no cigar. he still had the drive, the power, and the cocaine in 2003/2004 to put on the same level of show he did in 1989.
@@mattlovesdrums25 2003 he was still as good as ever but at this point his playing wasn't really good as you can hear. 2004 was pretty mediocre year for them.
1:12:33 James forgot the lyrics and laughed lol
Lol😂
St Anger sounds pretty adequate , especially now.
Its just those drums on the studio recording...sounds badass in concert
It's pretty much a punk song...only 3 riffs. Doesnt age well compared to even last few albums.
@@ReprisalWithin I actually meant the whole album. Can't say it's my favourite one, but there are some good songs. "My World",for instance. They never do it live.
I still love the album
My problem with that album is the lenght of the songs. There's just not enough material for them to be that long. But there's some good stuff in there, it would work better if the songs were 3 minutes long (kinda like Hardwired).
First metallica concert with 13 😍😍thanks for the upload

Only thing this show is missing is their perfect version of “I Disappear” the intro they did for it during the Madly in Anger with The World Tour was incredible.
