Ikr, I watched John Mulaney's interview in Seth Meyers' show, and it's so much better. It gets way closer to the Hot Ones (with Sean Evans) experience.
i agree and i see this same opinion about most of these late night shows. makes me wonder what will happen after this is over. will people really want these shows exactly like they were before? i feel like covid has stripped away a layer of artificial, old fashioned showbiz flavor that people were already sick of
Conan is honestly the only late night host to hit the nail on the head when it comes to adapting to covid, the Internet was already replacing the old talk show format, and I think it just shows the dedication Conan has for producing his show how much effort they put into changing their content and keeping people entertained
I think the show also got lucky. They changed the format and managed to get a few shows in in a familiar environment, before they had to adapt to covid. The logistical problem of having an unreliable internet connection, video calls freezing and the different time zones are minimized when you only have to deal with one guest per episode. The other shows, when they haven't been able to fill their slots, have had to come up with segments in a very restricted environment. This format works because you get an entire conversation, without forced audience interruptions. And the restrictions caused by covid, have made it so that when segments have had to have been cut, the interviews have been made longer, making them more of a conversation.
@@-Anjel interesting prospective. I watch really any talk show BUT I do feel like the one conversation with a guest is a solid mark for Conan. For instance I loooved Fallon and his skits! But ever since the whole covid thing I feel that his show has gotten a bit dull and repetitive. His best one yet is the "Borat" interview, but besides that I think the show (due to covid conditions) has gotten a bit boring. He's a great host dont get me wrong, but I feel that Conan has adapted very well in these conditions. With or without the covid situation, I still think Conan is a true comedian and a warm, welcoming host for any guest.
@@inevitablecraftslab I really enjoy Trevor Noah doing Covid....his videos are really well adapted to RUclips format. Colbert is cringe currently....the laugh breaks are so weird lol
Excellent guest and interview. I think Conan has finally found the best format. It's very simple but very intimate at the same time and it seems that people enjoy it's feminine company.
these conversations are so much better than late night interviews. its less rushed, more genuine and there's more to take away. also, give us more Brule!
I didn’t know I liked this guy so much John C Reilly. But he’s very interesting, funny and intelligent. Very cool interview. This was a great episode period, the pandemic going on and how they’ve adapted only adds to my appreciation for their creativity.❤️💕
JC Reilly is one of the greatest people in Hollywood, ever!!! This is the second time for me watching this show, and still, and the same laughs and appreciation for the subtle details he's pinpointing throughout. Thank you, John C Reilly!
Is it just me or did long-hair Conan have a different personality than regular hair Conan? Can't quite put my finger on it but his mannerisms seem more low key, he seems a little more laid back
Walk Hard has the highest number of laughs from any movie I've ever seen. I can't remember ever laughing that many times. I watch it at least once a year and each time I laugh just as hard.
He should just move his TBS show into Largo and go back to an hour after the vaccine post pandemic. Conan is on the verge of a second prime. Mid to late 90s Conan is getting his funny grandpa self.
Wow didn’t know the Largo was run by a Belfast boy, love it! If getting to see that wonderful theatre wasn’t on the bucket list before it is now! Much love to the Conan and Largo team from cold Northern Ireland ❤️
I love this format. I hope it stays. It reminds me of what Letterman does except that is actually good. Imagine this format with Bill Burr or Tom Segura.
@@Arnuuld He's reinforced this by constantly reminding us he has the torso of an 8 yr old girl. Her name's Molly, she was born in the 1800s and has rickets

Seems like the nicest guy...so genuine and light hearted....Bravo Conan. John needs more of these little showcase moments. The big stars are ok...but,the character actors are the best....
Really great interview here Conan, it's awesome getting to see these actors and celebrities in this new format. Just two funny guys having a conversation and sharing interesting stories.
Honestly, I prefer this interview format to the one with an audience. The discussion flows more, it's longer, it's more intimate, John C Reilly had tons of great stories, and there was no rush to get through them.
Saw him as Stanley in A Streetcar Name Desire on Broadway. At that point I only knew him from Gangs of New York and A Perfect Storm but was definitely a fan after that
I haven't laughed this hard watching an interview in a long time. Also, I've been following the progress of 'Moonbase 8' for years, and it's great to see Conan champion so hard for such a unique and frankly risky, independent project. Two very funny, very good people.
I have a pretty strong suspicion that John C Reilly was referencing his role as best friend to Johnny Depp in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" as the time that by the end of the production, he didn't feel close to the other actor.
@@Mithu927 it's possible. Depp just seems like one of the more aloof actors that came to mind. Coogan seems awfully gregarious. As does Mark Wahlberg. I wish JCR would have just gone ahead and spilled the beans!

John looks like he could play Thurston Howell in a Gilligan's Island reboot.. I'm picturing Cedric The Entertainer as Skipper, Bill Nye as the professor, DJ Qualls as Gilligan.. Lindsay Lohan as Ginger if she can still clean up well. Nicki Minaj as Mrs. Howell, and Miley Cyrus as Mary Anne. This would be my casting for a movie remake.. ;)
I absolutely adore this format. Just go ahead and keep this style, cardboard cutouts included.

Hot ones, is absolutely wonderful. We all want to see our friends. It’s wonderful that we can do this, but it’s sucks.
Haha yes, the cardboards
And they upload interviews in full on RUclips. This is such a joy!
I like that they aren't playing to a crowd. We're just getting Conan's interview skills and not calling it a podcast. Its super refreshing.

Absolutely! He's such a great host with of without guests. I love that he's as bubbly and cool over Zoom interviews than in person
I think the show also got lucky. They changed the format and managed to get a few shows in in a familiar environment, before they had to adapt to covid.
