Skyrim: Turning the Dawnguard into Vampires

- In the Skyrim quest "Destroying the Dawnguard," the Dragonborn is tasked with killing all of the Dawnguard leaders. Using the Better Vampires mod, it is possible to kill all of them and resurrect them as vampires and still complete the quest. This was such a curious thing for me, that I just had to make a video about it.
Some things to note are that in the mod configuration menu under the Better Vampires options, the Dawnguard will be shown as allies despite them continuing to send hunting parties after the Dragonborn.
Additionally, the faces of the newly turned vampires will be a different shade than their body. This happens because they were never meant to become vampires, unlike the Dragonborn and a select few NPCs like your spouse and child. There is no way around this unless you modify their race in the Creation Kit (I haven't done this myself so do this at your own risk). One can temporally fix this by changing the NPC's weight.

Edit: This has also been confirmed to work with the public assassination radiant quests the vampires give you. Should you make it a public killing as instructed, I would recommend you find a way to keep the guards busy with either thralls or paralysis before you feed on the deceased npc. Keep in mind if the npc in question is involved with quests, it would be best to complete those quests before doing the deed. Otherwise, you may break said quests.
As of Better Vampires 7.8 the grey face bug no longer applies to NPCs turned into vampires, but you are limited to turn 30 NPCs into vampires at any given time. You can read the full change log here www.nexusmods.c...

Q: Can you tell me how to do this, so I can do it too?
A: I first assume you completed the Dawnguard DLC for the vampires. Continue to do sidequests for the vampires until you get a quest called “Destroying the Dawnguard.” Now, all the main leaders of the Dawnguard will lose their invincibility to you and can be infected. The way to complete the quest is to have all of them dead at the same time (vampirism doesn’t count). You have less than 10 minutes to kill them all and use the Praestare Sanguinare lesser power to feed on them. Use the Praestare Sanguinare lesser power after killing them and before feeding on their corpses or they will stay dead. If you did all of that correctly, the quest will be marked as complete and you can return to the quest-giver for the reward.

Most mods are in steam workshop or on nexusmods. You need to have an account to access the mods, and the mods only work on a computer. No mods work on console.
EDIT: With the announcement of Skyrim remastered, it would be possible to mod on consoles. Hypothetically speaking, some of the older versions of this mod may work on current generation consoles. It's too early to tell, but if SKSE is needed to run them, it will likely be impossible without jailbreaking the console. Concerning that, I have no knowledge on the matter.

In game vampires turn people into thralls that do their bidding. As a player if you're a vampire you can only feed on thralls. This is the point I was making. Watch the video again if that makes no sense

I feel like it would be more evil to turn Isran into a vampire and kill everyone else. That way he would have to lock himself in the castle with all his dead friends and slowly go insane from becoming the monster he vowed to destroy.
Kinda disappointing that this mod does not add any vocal referencing. The dawnguard don't seem to even acknowledge that they are now vampires themselves, or that they notice any chanve in each other.
Well, it's not like they can get the original voice actor for the Dawnguard DLC If they did decide to voice It Would have to be completely separate voice, probably break immersion a little.
@@datwhiteboi6256 To be fair, most of the Dawnguard have Vanilla voices, so lines could be spliced together for a lot of them like some other mods do. A lot of work though, and not really worth it.

I've never played the Vampire side. Mostly cause I just plain hate Vampires. Interesting none-the-less, though definitely not my cannon.
They also only exist to feed off and harm Humans, which I detest. Another reason I don't like them. So yeah, I never really side with the Vamps in any of my playthroughs.
I prefer the unique items that are earned with the Dawnguard, but I do enjoy playing the villain every once in a while just for the fun of it.
The only reason, i don't side with the vampires in Dawnguard, that even if you turn yourself back into a human, the dawnguard will attack you even in the cities.

So I'm trying to turn General Tullius and Legate Rikke into vampires but for some reason it doesn't give me the option to feed on their bodies even after killing them and doing the Praestare Sanguinare thingy
edit: I use a mod that makes them killable even after the civil war

I'm assuming you are asking how am I turning the Dawnguard leaders into vampires. With the mod "Better Vampires 7.2," you have the option, as a vampire, to force feed victims into servitude even if they are dead (as long as it is done briefly after their death). To do this, you will have to use a power called Praestare Sanguinare that is given to you when you turn into a vampire before you feed on them.
did that but some Dawnguard wont die so its a waste of time doing it unless you have a mod installed allowing you to kill them.

the only reason why I do it is because I can get xp from killing them again what i mean about xp I am talking about when you attack with your sword or what ever weapon or spell you use.
I did this to isran before and also one time while using wintersun religions of skyrim I was a follower of molag I sent isran to the father of all vampires but my favorite is enchanting a item with his soul and making it purposefully weak and naming it isran's folly

well of course it'd let you complete the quest anyways, the game was never programmed to take a mod into account like that. hell it was barely programmed at all in general tbh it can barely cope with its default state.
