20k from beagle point? man you are a true explorer! but in your shoes, I would never have faced such an exciting and dangerous journey without my old and rusty DBX! 😂 Jokes aside... I prefer small ships for long voyages, I feel like I'm saying, less alone and safer than I could feel inside the long decks and hundreds of cold steel rooms of an Anaconda. My DBX is my cozy home in the dark
I definately agree that an Anaconda feels wrong way out in the black. All those empty seats I guess. Spend an hour trying to dock an SRV into a Conda on a rough surface moon and you will definately appreciate a small ship! 😄 The DBX is maneuverable, runs cold, has great visibility, and none of its shortcomings really matter. The small fuel scoop just means you need to scoop while you scan (try to sit perpendicular to the orbital plane so you get line of sight on all the planets. Synthesis and the DSSA mean repair module space beyond one good AFMU doesn't mean much. The only jump range threshold that matters is 42LY for plotting between galactic arms and getting to Salome's Reach. I have never once used any of those fancy scanners for anything other than poking space coral at a lagrange point. The DBX is probably the best exploration ship and your videos do a great job of showing what it can do.
I am sitting in a shiny new Phantom about 20k LY from Beagle Point and you are making me miss my old rattletrap DBX.
