Looks so much like Eddie Cochran's guitar 😎 I love the p-90 in the neck position. I just ordered a streamliner hollow body that comes with a p-90 in the same position. Not the same guitar but its the closest I can get....
yes yes yes / ever since I watch this video of Darrel with this Gretsch I wanted one/ I have 8 Gretsch 6120/ and can make them all sound the same which is good you don't have to return when doing a gig, but this tribute guitar to Eddie just sounded a bit different so I sent the one, hoping Darrel was not over selling it / [ it does happen ] it came opened the tweed case and just the first look was wow that's different got my hands on it , and plugged it into my old amp/ and I tell you EVERY WORD DARREL SAID IS TRUE IT IS LIKE HEARING A GRETSCH FOR THE FIRST TIME [ thanks Darrel ] and now I have bought 2 more but now I always ask the custom shop to make them, it costs a hell of a lot more money but when you here it you will know it is worth every penny, Rj-and the Wild Cat's ............
Are we seeing two guitars here? In the first clip the 6120 has a T V Jones (?) pickup in the neck position. For the rest of the video it has the P90. Anyway, great video!
Yup... first one, during the opening, has TV Jones version of Dynasonics (T-Armonds) & a gold pickguard... the second a P-90 in the neck (a la Eddie Cochran) & a clear pickguard...
Awesome guitar, but that fixed arm Bigsby would drive me batshit crazy, I like to be able to get them out of my way. Of course, I'm not a tenth the player he is, either
what would be the difference of an off the shelf Eddie Cochran signature vs a custom shop? I think the pups are from a different maker on the off the shelf version.
Just because he wasn't mentioned doesn't mean he was being disrespected. The video wasn't meant to be a history lesson, for crying out loud! His involvement with Gretsch began in 1954 with the 6120 Hollow Body. Although the bulk of the design was already in place by the time Chet arrived, he had a significant influence on the design by requesting the addition of a metal bridge, metal nut, and Bigsby tailpiece. So, no, he didn't wholly design the guitar.
I’m sure he knows about Chet Atkins. He didn’t design this at all Gretsch designed it for Him the he hated the appointments such as the western motifs and inlays
1. That's his words not mine 2. I have listened to most his albums and no they do not include blues 3. If you think that just because rockabilly/rocknroll has its roots in blues, it makes it equall to blues, then we have a very different understanding of what is going on
I love these clips that Darrell does...he is the man for guitar knowledge and playing
What a great sounding guitar! No pedals needed - beautiful wood, awesome pickups, gorgeous tone!
Darrel's a gent and a magnificent player to boot.
Incredible guitar
What a great guitar and even better guitar player! Thank you for the class too!
Such a humble and nice man! great sounding guitar and lovely playing aswell.
I do enjoy listening to Darrell discuss his guitars and other gear. What a player, and I bet he can do blues and jazz pretty well too.
i'm a big fan of this guy
Darren Higham is the guru of UK rockabilly. I'd like to learn rockabilly from him...

streamliner is a cheap gretsch model and unfortunately never sound like Darrel Guitar
@@The170460 I never claimed it did. it's not a custom shop guitar....it works for me, though.
Rest in peace Jeff Beck
Great pull off technique Darrel has
The middle position OMG
That is quite divine, ain’t it?
Very great !

DD Brock2 Yeah, if I got one I'd like the bigsby to swing away.
Yep
Can anyone tell me what kind of amp he's using?
He uses a peavey delta 1x15 combo.
I'm mad about the very ending moment when he claims "I can't play blues"

So good.
What weight are they ?
P90, noisy?
Geeee. Super cool guitarist loads of talent so few views!!,!! Anyway. Where's that Justin bieber shit?
“...Little guitar”...????
He's saying light guitar.
My only beef would be the non articulating Bigsby.
No mention of Chet Atkins who designed this guitar and who inspired Eddy Cochran and thousands of others

@@joeblack8915 calm down Chet made Gretch guitar sales go through the roof he made them popular in the beginning no matter what he did to them Joe

Soli Deo Gloria
Seems to me like most of "the sound" comes from the amp and the delay. Am I ignorant?
+Ernesto Del Baño
Not quite... the delay and amps are a big part, but the twang comes from the dynasonics.
Yes you are.
Pablo Escobar dont ask tha
looking at your pic you are a total ass
I would say mainly it comes from the player themselves!
Yep he can't play the blues...
...But who gives a shit anyway!!!
Then you haven't listened to much of his work if you think that.

darren lince is better at rockabilly guitar
Then you haven't bothered listening to Darrel Higham in any great depth, have you, dimwit.
