This looks fantastic! The theme of Santa Maria was always too off-putting for me to try it, even though dice drafting is one of my favorite game mechanisms, so I'm glad it's been reimplemented and updated.
Thanks a lot for a great play through, as always!🥰 Yes, round 1 could have been better for you both if you'd remembered the worker and the "sell resources for fish" free actions. Especially Jen could have gotten much more out of the orange die if she had sold the gold for 3 fish or used the worker😀
As someone who really dislikes 'roll to resolve' type mechanics (choose an action, then determine the outcome), I'm worried about the random draw of the fish tiles. Do you have any thoughts on it in this game? -- I don't recall Santa Maria having any.
correct this is totally new, but tbh it's totally fine. the individual rewards you get are pretty evenly balanced, you're not going to draw and get an "OMG THIS IS TOTALLY USELESS FOR ME BECAUSE OF A STATEGY I PURSUED 45 MIN AGO" (like say Feast for Odin). They're all good, and you can also get the upgrade to draw two pick one if you like, but tbh you'll be fine just taking what you can get as well :)
we've rarely looked at hate drafting as particuarily aggressive because we're talking something that we ourselves can use, and it's generally something that our opponent had the opportunity to take, but chose not to :)
Yeah, I didn't like bit either - where the orange 3 was turned into a 4 even though there was already an orange 4 available. Had to spend a fish to do that. Seemed quite aggressive and made me me think that this one is not for me. Thanks for the review.
Ohh, I’ve been waiting for this since I saw your rating

It feels like Wayfarers of the South Tigris but more streamlined and medium weight.

For not liking attacking in games you certainly hate draft a lot.
