The platter is cast not machined. The cartridge is still very close to a 2M Red, fitting a 2M Blue would be a significant compatible upgrade. The bonded elliptical stylus is still the weakest link here out of the box. Anyone wanting to ditch the slip mat can with this platter, just use a puck with it if you do.
Hello Drifter, the felt mat has some anti-static properties, and does offer a bit of grip to the record, so we suggest using it. Pro-Ject also offers a wide range of platter / mat upgrades, as well as power supplies, record clamps, etc.
Hello Nikaknetu, the Planar 3 retails for more than twice the price of Debut EVO 2 here in the US, so it's on a different level of investment and performance. Please reach out to us if you'd like and we'll dive into the rest of your system, as that can assist us in making a good recommendation for you: ask@gramophone.com
Hello ilikenibs, Pro-Ject has only stated that this new cartridge was developed along with Ortofon for Project's specs. But at the selling price of this 'table and cartridge combination, one would think it is the red / blue body
Hello Andersonland, understood. In calling any product "affordable high end", we're trying to communicate something that isn't true for everybody. What one person feels is high end is mid-fi to another person. Another would see it as totally un-affordable. EVO 2 does a good job of including features / performance often found on more costly 'tables - but you can't fit that explanation into a brief YT title :-)

Thank you Michael for your comments
Do you have to use the felt mat, or can you put the record directly on the aluminum platter? Cheers.

Hi! How is level of this Evo against Rega Planar 3? The same, upper, lower?

Is the cartridge body based on the 2m red/blue or bronze/black?

I love my EVO (not a 2), but, and as amazing asthe EVO 2 is, I don't think you can describe the EVO 2 as "High End". Good video, though.
