- This is an authentic sweet and sour chicken recipe. Sweet and Sour Chicken is a popular Chinese-American dish that features tender pieces of chicken coated in a delicious sweet and tangy sauce. Serves 2-3
Ingredients:
8 oz chicken thigh meat, cut into 1 inch chunks
1 tsp white rice wine(sub water)
¼ tsp salt
⅛ tsp white pepper
1 ½ tbsp starch
1 egg + 1 tbsp water
Dredge:
½ cup flour
½ cup corn starch
Other ingredients:
1 tbsp minced garlic
½ tsp minced ginger
Red or green bell pepper ½ each, cut into 1 inch chunks
½ medium onion diced
½ cup pineapple chunks (from 8oz pineapple chunks can)
Sauce:
1 tsp soy sauce
½ cup sugar
¼ cup ketchup
⅓ cup vinegar
⅓ cup pineapple juice (from 8oz pineapple chunks can)
1 tbsp corn starch + 1 tbsp water

If you don't have pineapple juice, you can use low sodium chicken broth or water instead, but keep in mind that the flavor will be different. This recipe really shines when you use pineapple juice - it tastes fantastic with it. 😊

Can you reuse the oil ? From cooking chicken
