Giants fan here and while Kapler was certainly controversial he was not the reason we collapsed. Our roster was frankly garbage from spring training. We have our PoBO Zaidi and Ownership group spearheaded by Greg Johnson to thank for this. Zaidi has proven to be paranoid of trading ANY major league talent and no plans to address our outfield. The Johnson's are more concerned about "Breaking Even" then putting out an entertaining product. The sad thing is that our ownership group REFUSES to rebuild but also refuses to spend what it takes to bring stars to SF. The bullpen is the ONLY area I am not worried about. Our outfield and Rotation are DOA. We could be irrelevant for years if MAJOR changes aren't made.

Ms didn't sell at the deadline, they traded from a strength to shore up a weakness. Canzone and Rojas were immense upgrades over Pollock and Wong, and while losing Sewald lost maybe a game, those additions were still more valuable. Injuries to starting pitching (plus Castillo imploding in August) were far more detrimental than trading away their closer.

Everyone else including One Sided Yankee Fanboy ESPN were in delusion and denial about and the FACT that Boone Convinced everybody that they were SOMEHOW going to come back from a 0-3 Deficit in the Same league as the 2004 Red Sox is beyond Pathetic. The Yankee Organization keeps partying like its 2009. Like Manfred is going to Pay and Play the Way Seilg the Mobster used to.
I'll just say this to the Pirates, the Brewers, the Angels, Mariners and everyone else Tree say "can never have nice things." The RANGERS WON THE WORLD SERIES. A team that had no business even sniffing the postseason. It finally happened for us. It can happen for you.

At this point White Sox fans like myself are secretly planning how to celebrate when Jerry Reinsdorf finally kicks the bucket. He’s making the Dollar Bill era Blackhawks look good by comparison.
You know Jerry Reinsdorf is bad when he makes the McCaskeys looks good My dad's side of family are from Chicago and they're fans of all the Chicago sports teams except only my dad is a White Soxs fan So I heard them criticize The McCaskeys, Reinsdorf and Krause for decades
The Tigers have a lot of potential for next season. In addition to Tork and Greene the Tigers also have Parker Meadows and Kerry Carpenter who look to be important pieces for an emerging young core. Also should have a couple AAA players make the roster in Justyn-Henry Malloy and Colt Keith. Add a couple more solid bats and 2 or 3 arms and they’ll be good enough to win the Central next year
Padres are the most disappointing team this year for me. With all that talent in the hitting core, to not make the playoffs is a monumental failure. I would laugh at them but after the death of Seidler I can't in good faith.
@deltaspider713 nobody expected the Orioles to get bounced first round. You're speaking from what we believed last off-season. I'm speaking on what people expected during the season once we saw teams come into form.
I was never really high on the Fraudres this year. Just by looking at their underlying stats in years past, they were not a particularly good team with Soto, Tatis, and Hader, and I didn’t think that Bogaerts would change much. They won less than 90 games last season (and were worse than their record suggested according to not so sophisticated metrics), yet people thought they were such hot shit after fluking into short series wins against the Mets and Dodgers in the biggest crapshoot known to man (AKA October baseball) and signing Bogaerts to that bloated contract. Yet even though I didn’t think they’d take the division from the Dodgers, I thought they had the talent to make the playoffs. To be fair, they got a little unlucky this season, but there’s no denying that they underachieved in 2023. Also, just because their owner died (my condolences to his family and loved ones) doesn’t mean that they are immune to being dunked on.
On the Rockies side of things I am finally feeling encouraged because for the first time in our entire history we have actually committed to a rebuild. A couple seasons late but better late than never. I do like our potential future hitting core with Jones, Tovar, and Goodman at the center and our defense with Doyle and those previously mentioned looks top notch (as well as RyMac at 3B). We also have some really good prospects for the lineup as well, particularly at 2B, C, and OF. This gives us some flexibility on trading guys like Diaz and Rodgers for more pitching prospects like we did at the deadline (flipping Cron, Grichuk, Johnson, and Hand for around 12 pitching prospects). Rockies could be relevant again as soon as 2025 or 2026
If this year showed me anything, it's that a team that loses 100+ two years prior can win a World Series. And throwing money at players won't get you over the hump. Looking forward to somehow seeing the Rockies and Royals in the 2025 World Series.
@@Redpoppy80 Indeed you have to be smart. Just look at my Phillies. They didn't spend their money smartly. They spent a ton of money on star players but those star players have proven to NOT be worth the money. They can't hit in the clutch when it matters and don't do any situational hitting. They are truly a homerun or bust team because the players they spent millions on can't hit situational baseball. They can only hit homeruns like Nick Casty and Kyle Schwarber.
The 2014 A's and 2023 Padres are eerily similar. Both managed by Bob Melvin, and both with outstanding run differentials, only to flop in the regular season.
As a Red Sox fan I just hope this new GM can actually turn the Red Sox back into the World Series team they're meant to be. Also Padres you have my condolenses.
İt was so nice to see a team i cheer for win something. A small light of happiness in my otherwise miserable year of sport fandom. /Titans and Jazz are misery ball //Stars gonna let me down for sure

Kapler deserves plaudits for keeping that trash roster in the race until September. They should have lost at least 90 games

Cardinals fan here. I gave up on this team on August 1st, after we sold our pitching staff.
Padres are the most disappointing team this year for me. With all that talent in the hitting core, to not make the playoffs is a monumental failure. I would laugh at them but after the death of Seidler I can't in good faith.
Really? Even more disappointing than the orioles?
@Dee-jd6ym nobody expected the orioles to be that good. People expected the padres to win the world series
@deltaspider713 nobody expected the Orioles to get bounced first round.
You're speaking from what we believed last off-season. I'm speaking on what people expected during the season once we saw teams come into form.
@deltaspider713 it was obvious during the season the Padres wasn't winning a world series. But no one expected the orioles to fold like that.

Rockies could be relevant again as soon as 2025 or 2026
San Fran never had a chance this year, and that trade for Arson Judge only added more fuel to the fire.
If this year showed me anything, it's that a team that loses 100+ two years prior can win a World Series. And throwing money at players won't get you over the hump.
Looking forward to somehow seeing the Rockies and Royals in the 2025 World Series.
Texas Rangers say otherwise. You have to be smart with throwing the money which clearly the Mets were not. I don't even know what to call the Padres.
