I was shown the 213 method for A, due to the easy switch to D & E, however after practicing your preferred method I feel it translates better when switching to other chords. Feels more natural. I prefer the Batemanator way!!
Hi Lauren, hope all is good with you. Well I've always done finger's 1 , 2 & 3 for the A chord. I see the benefits of all the ways especially for 1st timers or big fingers or arthritis. Good vid , thanks Lauren 🎼🎸👍😁🏴🤗
❤❤A so needed discussion of the A chord. I have a stubby hand and short, like my mom, who professionally attacked a piano as a living. I like bar chords but feel guilty. I like that they are close to the fret and i can even bring the E mute in and out. Thanks
Thank you so much Lauren for this video. I’ve always hated playing the “A” chord the traditional way because it’s hard to squeeze 3 fingers tightly together. I’ve been waiting for this. That’s why you rock 🎸🤘
The way I was taught when I was young. A very long time ago. Is I use one finger and bar the a chord with my middle finger or the ring finger. As for me I prefer it this way. Easier and trains the finger to bend when baring major chords
Yup, knowing multiple was to land a chord helps me for where I am coming from and where I am going to . Like GGGA GGGA just slap a Barre across. If coming into A ASuss 3 finger it. Adapt and modify.
I have larger fingers and I typically play the A with just my index and middle fingers fretting the D, G and B strings on the 2nd fret. Do you have a video like this for F?? 🙂
I have used a sixth way for the last fifty odd years: index finger on the d string, middle finger on the g string and the b string. I do not have big hands, but for me it even works on a classical guitar. The great thing is you have two fingers left for other things.
I settled on my back 3 singers early on. It still works best for me. The first finger tucked in the middle just doesn't feel right for me. I've experimented on occasion but have settled on the back 3 fingers. The one finger is great for rock and that sort of stuff for me
I never understood why option 4 gets a bad rap, especially from “veteran” player and teachers. I’ve always thought it was the best mix of ease, sound (since the high E rings out cleanly, as opposed to barring it), and versatility out of Ds and Es. - Anyway, great video. Thanks!
I found out some time ago that my classical guitar has a massive action gap, and that's why i couldn't manage proper chords, then i started playing the notes along the frets, without any crossing fingers, literally making a song note by note fret by fret, not jumping from string to string. Like, it's a chinese classical guitar from amazon, i can't ask for much but god damn that action is just ridiculous, but i can squeeze some songs out of it.
Hi Lauren, thank you. My comment is not for the A chord but I noticed how great your strumming is. This may sound weird but I'm not able to put my stunning together with chords that sound good. I've been trying to play the guitar for a very long time and still not getting anywhere. Please help Your fan Holly
Hi Holly, awww thank you for the kind words. I would highly recommend my 7 Level Guitar System which focuses on the basics: Www.laurenbatemanguitar.con/courseyt
Hello Lauren I find the 213 pattern easier unlike you your smaller hands I have a bunch of bananas on the end of my arm if I don't get my thumb down behind the neck I mute the high E with the fleshy part of my first finger. Roger

I feel the same!
Years ago I learned the usual way, but I was never happy with it,so eventually I changed to finger 1 on the G string, this works really well for me.
Awesome. You have to find what works for you.
Great video. I usually just use the asus2 with the second and third finger but sometimes I use the third finger for muting both the g and b chord.
Great option

You can do it!
@@LaurenBateman I love your videos, your a great teacher

@@LaurenBateman And thank you for the work u put into making these videos.

More than one way to skin a cat as they say.
@@LaurenBateman sometimes mine are screaming at me. Then I have to put the violin back into it's case. 🙃
Thank you for this ….👍👍
My pleasure!

Yes, search for easy Barre chords Lauren Bateman and a lesson should pop up on RUclips.

Great lesson! What kind of Taylor guitar are you playing? 🙂
This is a 324ce

Option 5, single finger is the only way I can play the A, but it does make it difficult to play the B, b Mn is fine though.
Keep practicing, you can do it!
3:16 this is the one I use
Fantastic

Hey miss which is the best guitar for begginers for around 3500thousand. And can i buy in online ?
I honestly don't make guitar recommendations because everyone's body is different. I would recommend Sweetwater.
Great tips! We call sausage fingers ham hocks 😂!
Good to know!

3:27 This is how I play the A chord. I haven't seen another person play it the same way.
Thanks for watching!
I find that I use A7, with two fingers, most of the time, actually prefer the more blues sound of A7
Nice
I have larger hands, using 3 fingers was nasty; a long time ago someone told me to use the first 2 fingers to cover 3 strings...it works well for me.
Thanks for sharing!
Anyone know what guitar she’s got, what Taylor series is it 😅
You may check it out here kit.co/laurenbateman/guitar-recommendations
That first trick of two fingers... Can it be used in playing for what it's worth?
Sure can! There are many ways to play chords on the guitar.

Good to hear that you're 5'5"

What is a "suspended chord"?
Little bit of theory. It's when you remove the third of a chord and add a 2nd or 4th.
@@LaurenBateman I have learned a little bit of theory, pretty sure I understand what you are saying
Thanks for clarifying

I just switched from classic to acoustic, talk about frustration there, everything is double harder
You got this!
I have smallish hands (size 8 gloves) and arthritis in my hands and I find the fifth position the easiest to fret an A chord 😏
Thank you for the tip.
Well, give up and break out the lotion 🧴 any hand size works. 😅
