Full highlights from the Men's Badminton Doubles Gold Medal Match between China and Denmark from Wembley Arena on 5 August 2012.
Badminton made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It was not until the 1992 Games in Barcelona that it was officially included on the Olympic programme, with men's and women's singles and doubles events. The mixed doubles event made its debut in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Since then, the number of events has remained unchanged.

i love how when they won, cai yun ran off the court with excitement and fu hai feng just broke down and sobbed LOL
I think they came second in the last Olympics especially it was held in their home country so that's y they were a little emotional. plus China had swept all gold in badminton and this was the last match ..
Fu and Cai are 2 handsome guys and great players!
The speed, power and skills required for the sport of badminton is unbelievable! Fu and Cai is just magnicent! Great final competition from both teams.
"5 gold out of 5 for China"
Those good old days......
Badminton almost get scrapped out of Olympic because of China's unreal dominance at that time lol

feel like this female commentator really love cai yun coz every game I heard the sentence" he is so sharp, excellent serve, so fast, he dominates the front court" lol
+Allison Hu he really is LOL
+Hậu Lê but she is right
Cai Yun is one of the best of all time. He's much better and stable than Fu Haifeng
OoooooOoOoOOoooh my GOD.
If you tuned in to the Channel 9 News broadcast yesterday evening, you’re probably still cringing so hard your jaw is permanently locked shut, rendering you unable to eat solid food ever again.
I’ll be living off a soup-only diet alongside you.
Because what started off as a heartfelt farewell to weather girl Bec Judd (who had her last appearance tonight before taking maternity leave) turned into TV’s - nay - THE WORLD’S most awkward situation ever.
All I can say is poor Peter Hitchener, who helplessly witnessed Tony Jones leant in for smooch of Bec’s perfect cheek, only to be epically rejected and for the moment to be documented and replayed forever more.
Can we… I can’t… I just…
AHHHHHHHHHHHH IT'S SO CRINGEWORTHY I'm actually howling at my desk.
Tony, Tony, Tony.
and he went through heart surgery, guy is a legend.
China just seem like they're playing on another level compared to denmark. Denmark is so outclassed here
treksez nah. denmark also played equally well. in fact there was a controversial shot in 2nd set but the judge gave it to china anyway.
physika It was a tight match but the Chinese were better in all disciplines explosive, speed and defense which is why they won. They were very consistence in the entire olympics by winning all their matches in 2 straight games. That call by the umpire happened when the Chinese were winning 16-12 so even if the Dens got that point then 16-13 was still a good advantage for the Chinese and the chance of a momentum shift is slim since the Chinese were very consistence in that game. But it looked like the the umpire made the right decision.
Quang Pham true, but this is the final so i guess even just 1 point might turn the entire game over in terms of momentum. anyway it was a high quality game indeed.
CHINA NUMBER ONE
NIHAO podayyy😀
27:19 WHAT A SMASH
my opponent on badminton be like
Well you lift the ball high to Fu haifeng and you know what happens next... especially he is one of the most powerful smashers in badminton
Men double is the best. Skilful, fast and powerful!
24:42 cai’s sharp half smashes just incredible. Effortless but effective.
chirag shetty has sort of resemblance with this imo, and satwik has a big smash like fu
That coordination tho
The way they work together like that is incredable
The chinese are tough and very competitive for them to reach this point they have to be like this naturally
It's nice watching Cai Yun giving his best to all of his game as well ang Fu❤️I adore them❤️
Watching this also gave me enough learnings about my sport❤️💕
No disrespect to Boe because he really is quite skilled, but I just find it funny the number of times I thought I paused the video when he's serving. :D
Same
Same haha
Love them, Cai and Fu!!!! True Legends!!!
Omg Olympic badminton is insane

As Chris said in "Total Drama Action":

It's such a joy to watch Yun Cai's play! Cai is a true great all-around badminton player, and perhaps the smartest player in the world! I read that Cai is the captain of Chinese badminton men's team.
i havent watched yet, but i kno china is going to win.

Fu and Cai such a legend in men double
in my opinion cai/fu is the greatest mens doubles pair of all time
fhf caiyun adalah pemain idola saya, semangat maine tanpa profokasi lawan.. saya sangat mengidolakan banget sosok pasangan ini. semoga kevin gideon bs berprestasi kaya mereka. bs juara dan olimpic
the last point backhand is the same when they lose to Indonesia (Beijing 2008). Same backhand at the same place 😁
最近觀察了蔡贇的表現,打球的感覺讓我非常能感受到他的認真,超帥!好熱血!
要不是接近退休年齡,真的很想再看到他的表現。
說的好阿
So proud of you guys~
Cai and Fu! The badminton LEGENDS!!
John Lee no no the legend id from indonesia ricky/rexy
In the world of badminton, Asia are more likely to win.
Not really
Khai Lee let me see. not really
Asia has to be good at something haha
Johan what that supposed to mean?
And eating with chopsticks and slurping noodles from the bowl....
52:52 bromance :) :)
this is sad and happy at the same time lol
the best pair in the world, my favourite... fu haifeng / cai yun ;)
China may not have the fastest runners, the strongest men but they sure do have the fastest reflexes
China does well in weightlifting.
And ping pong
They're not that good in basketball
Liuxiang has world record for 100m hurdles
Yes. Lin Dan was ranked 99th but he still won the 5th World Championship in August 2013
The last point won by China's Fu and Cai is just magnicent, so fast and powerful! They no doubt deserve this gold medal. Who says tha badminton is a backyard sport?! Fu and Cai are also so handsome.
Caiy is kinda hot
Jesus, they have lightning-fast reflexes. That *has* to be natural, not something they trained for...
+nareteV denosaeS no, after certain experience they can assume their next move. I can too. Like if u hit in a certain angle you can predict the possible counters which is what the body gets used to. But you have to make unthinkable moves.
Vampire Volverene Yeah true, I've heard that about fighting too. lol
nareteV denosaeS
No One it’s actually pretty easy after a while. From the way your opponent sets up their shot, you can just tell how and where to counter. It becomes a natural reflex, I don’t even think about it when playing, it’s a subconscious move.
it's because they're not reflexes...
I sympathise with you! Don't give up your passion!
Miss FU HAI FENG HE NAME REALLY HAVE AURA, LEGENDARY PLAYER
Great play.......learned a lot from this match ......
me with my $1 racket and birdie playing badminton against myself thinking im good:
two days ago I watched on TV mixed double final (gold match) Rio 2016... it's so disappointed when you see so many empty seats during the game.. I think Rio 2016 it not ready enough orginizing the olimpic,, especially badminton -_- -_-
Did you just judge the whole olympic by the number of seats? the staff must be hired for a reason. This is a billion-dollar event, dude
No one cares about badminton in Brazil. That's why
Fakhmol Risepdo lol Brazilian not good in badminton
Agree with you..brazil shouldnt host the olympic games..geeezzz...yucckkss
It's Indonesia in the final, so no one else cares to be honest, cuz all you get from them are insults and threats.
I love this camera, so interesting
I love the sound of smashing birdies
watching this during pandemic and i cry when see they cry🥺🥺
Then, if Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng were at their peak in 2006 when Fu Haifeng fired a 324 km/h smash, they would destroy Setiawan and Ahsan. They won all matches of 2006 World Championships in 2 straight games. In fact, Setiawan and Ahsan lost to Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng twice in 2012 as well. They just lost this year because they were off for months and were not in their form as well as they are old now.
Do u mean markis kido/setiawan becoz ahsan havent partner setiawan till 2013 if im not mistaken.
Here we are again during covid19 in 2020...
Each match is a wonderful match. I love badminton
I wish to see cai hu play against our satchi .....
ok.... i can c that Denmark is trying its best, but the Chinese receives every smashes, its just like two level 1 playing with two level 100 master, not on the same level
China is always winning in badminton mostly
well the two did lose in 2008, so this is their come back.
they have to win this, they lost the beijing one
Nah. They are actually on the same level. The Chinese had better form and better mentality and that's why they won. Many say Jung/Lee is same level as the Chinese. However when the Danes beat Jung/Lee, they say the Danes are not on same level as the Chinese. What a "wonderful" logic. Sometimes when a pair beat another pair without struggling, it does not mean they are not on same level. LCW once beat LD by 21-4 in third set. Can you say they are not on same level?
let let lett I agree. This is not like 100m dash, badminton takes precision, strength and skill, it is a sport mostly relies on not talent but hard work. With all these combined, whoever has the better mentality and teamwork will stand out.
Not a chance. Cai and Fu are absolutely quality here, at their peak, they would have annihilated Ahsan and Setiawan
look into cai yun eye.......u can see the winner in it.
Great game, both teams played good.
60 fps is not good enough for this, they are too fast.
LOL XD ASIAN LVL
haha.. i was wondering exactly the same
Ya
The Chinese pair nailed it!!!
Thank you.
if this final were Korea VS China, it might be more interesting..
true noone plays badminton in europe
exactly! mostly China's rival is Indonesia
aaaaand Denmark owned the 2016 thomas cup
and Marin has been the queen of WS for three years
I thought the Danes beat the Koreans in the semis to get to the Olympic Finals in 2012?...
leuk om naar te kijken
Incredible play in their
*there
Imagine if there was a game where players play with their weaker hand i.e. if they are right hander they have to play with left hand
that would be hilarious
No, their weak hand would just become the strong one. They should have competitions where they force everyone to switch.
@@Magic-bf8gz Did you mean: Rafael Nadal?
FengYun is a legend
Congratulation for China... And for Boe/Mogensen good Job guys 👍👍👍👍👍
1:53 OMG
I just hate people yell when the game is beginning- the best way is shutting off the sound and enjoying their skills and strategies
No people in Europe can pronounce Cai Yun's name right
CONANLI12 just Asian Can!!
chinese pinyin is based on latin
I see what you mean. I think since LCW plays with such pace and aggression, it is easy to see him as the aggressor and the one in control of the rallies. Whereas LD's control plays may seem more passive in comparison. But if you watch some of their epic matches again, you'll see that LCW is without a doubt the aggressor most of the time, but LD is really the one in control of the rallie, he dictates the tempo, and that's something LCW cant do at LD's level.
i love to playing badminton ever.
10:27 dude on the left had his flash on lmao
Haha
I hate it when ppl view badminton as an easy sports, and then you tried to explain to them that it ain't easy, but they'll be like "whatever"
Fu holds the record in a match, Tan only holds the record in a control test setting. just FYI, Fu's record smash was at the 2005 sudirman cup.
Am I the only one that’s going to notice what the commentator said at 51:57
In the 2012 olympics China took all gold medals for all 5 events for badminton: men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles
I’m the best bad mitten player in my 9th grade gym class just came here to see if I was good and just like everything else I’m not good enough and never will be
I_NoSc0pEd_Jfk _ yoooo literally same
I_NoSc0pEd_Jfk _ I’m weak
You should try play badminton with 12 year old asians or danishes and you’ll see how good they are
i agree with most of that when you say about their styles of play but chong wei was fit enough to keep his playing style the whole way through this olympic final without any sort of loosening up and i say the same thing about worlds 2011. Lin Dans style may be more efficient but i still believe that in the rallies, chong wei is better, but at the crucial points he struggles to play at lin dans standard who plays flawless on important points
50:15
"oh man these chinese wanna kill me"
epic
yeah let's go china!
btw im in china right now :)
Fantastic match!!
1:53 what how was that so casual lmao
I think for foreigners Chinese words are just like pictures. One of my British friends just have a 美 tattoo on his neck and this word means beautiful. ^-^
Catherine Zhu hope they also know the meaning 1st in order to avoid any misunderstandings.
Catherine Zhu yes Chinese words did originate from pictures. Like the word bird was meant to look like a bird. Same for horse, with four legs at bottom. Same as mountain, same as fire etc. Many words were originally based off picture or symbols of what they actually meant.
Arminius yeah that's probably true, im guessing he majority who get tattoos of Chinese characters probably just know the meaning in English, and got it primarily because it looks good. They probably just pick a character out from like a Template of like 10-20 words, I'm guessing words like honor, love, loyalty, strength, beauty, etc etc.
I'm also guessing that majority of them don't even know how to say it in Chinese, and probably couldn't even write out their tattoo in paper without having to look and copy it lol.
I think it's probably more common for the person to tell the tattoo artist a few words that he likes, and then the tattoo guy will look it up and show him what it looks like and what kind of design they can do with that word.
I don't think people will just pick any word just because it looks good but doesn't really represent them well or honestly
@@ex0duzz If you use mei 2x theres a dirty meaning to it
Best doubles match I've ever seen
I LOVE BADMINTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The runner-ups of MD in 2008 upgraded to gold medalists after 4 years. Hopefully the similar scene will occur in Tokyo.
28:45, 39:07 What is with Boe's attitude... from the start he's giving death stares, pointing, complaining unnecessarily, hitting his racket on the mat.... talk about unsportsmanlike!
well, third place is not bad either. but fu and cai's reaction is just tremendously golden. :D
Badminton does not allow the ball to touch ground, not like tennis, so the speed of badminton play is faster than tennis. All world class badminton players have explosive power, speed and great skills. Always enjoy watch Cai/Fu's badminton play, what a great pair! Cai is so smart, no wonder he is the captain of Chinese badminton team. He will be a superior coach after he retire from the sport.

Great match it was !
Wonderful
Nice Video
well played both of teams
youtube buffering everytime mathias boe serving
No one talking about that crazy behind the back at 1:53 by the Chinese dude
Very reasonable pick. Lin Dan had dominated LCW almost their entire career, especially on big occasions such as world championships and Olympics. Lin Dan has over a dozen of world titles while LCW have none. All LCW has is the #1 ranking. We can only say that LCW is a hard worker, and won a lot of 2nd tier tournaments. From that we can see that a player/pair's strength is measured by their achievements and consistency of excellence; whereas the ranking is just a token for hardwork.
Are we not gonna talk about the part where at 31:22 they give each other a very awkward handshake?
There hasn't been a pair like Cai/Fu. It'd be a while before we witness another Cai/Fu.
Finally cai/fu got first gold medal in olympic 2012 after lose by kido/setiawan in olympic beijing 2008
