very handy to know .... i was literally just wondering if they were separately switched or if it was part of the light switch stalk. I might however wire them in differently so I can use them as fogs separately
It's good to live in the same village as you. On an evening walk with the kids, I often pass your place and have a 'live' view on progress. Great video.
i've binge watched the entire series over 2 days.. now i've run out. Look forward to the next video.. Oh and massive respect on doing all that work in a tiny driveway in the English weather, reminds me of my youth lol
Luv watching the progress of the project... I would assume of the hand built process used by Ferrari at the time adds to the frustration of the conversion requiring fettling of al the parts to get a proper fitment and gaps to line up Don't despair and stay safe
Should be easy to make a couple of rubber spacers to go between the bumper and the body mounted bumper shocks - to bring the bumper out to where you would like it, and also adding some cushioning for the low speed impact reduction function.
Those rubber bumpers remind me of the bumper cars at the fair ground. They encourage bumping into other vehicles even though it's technically against the rules.
Looking forward to watching this! The youtube channel Number 27 has just got his first Ferrari. Ive now got two Britsh 308 Ferraris to watch during the lockdown, Awesome! I have followed your tip for getting tea made for me. I'm not sure whats happening, she seems to be digging a large hole in the garden.
You should get some moving blankets or packing blankets. To lay down in driveway . I used to use card board, now I use them. They work great and their cheap. I don't get all dirty and my knees don't hurt as bad. Love the videos
If I remember, the front exhaust manifold can be removed with engine in the car if the right fuel tank is removed first. My car was a pre QV carburetted model though, so may be different!
Terrific read, Scott. Nice bit about your mum and dad. Thanks for posting the link. BTW, you look a decade younger than your age, which is mention in the article.
Thank you again for keeping us entertained! Would it not be a good time to remove, clean and paint all the front suspension parts, such as the arm, stabilizer bar, etc.) while you are in there?
With your change to the bumper couldnt you of just used the normal US bumper and cut it down a few inches to match the eurospec bumper then? also the paint on headers burns off, its something that was even done on mopars back in the day and as soon as the engine gets up to temp it literally flakes off.
Nice job. I am doing some work on my r129 (mb) bumper and wheel arches (rust prevention treatment) and cleaning up all the surface rust I find on the chassis as I go along. Satisfying work. Don’t think I will graduate to Ferrari ownership although I always said I would whole watching magnum pi as a child :-)
Great video as usual and watching your channel makes the confinement easier. I think you’re the only person in the world using a Testarossa as a desk for your tools 😜
‘Some people like the big rubber ones’ 8:35 - That’s what she said😂 seriously though great content Scott and love the attention to detail and comparisons between the US and Euro spec parts. Definitely worth doing👍
It's looking good. Well I live in the US did all European cars have to change so drastically to met US specs here or was Ferrari one of a handful that made changes for US market?
Ferrari built the cars to US spec from factory. The very early cars I believe were modified to be imported into US, but later on they were pre built that way
Just personal opinion, but I think the lower valance doesn’t match the overall line, it is almost like you would need side skirts to match. Normal level offer a more balanced line, like pininfarina originally designed it.
Could you please humour me and speak about why the electric fans ,from my non Ferrari background are mounted backwards , IE they must turn clockwise looking from the front when the blades should be flipped 180 degrees and rotate anitclockwise which would be much more efficient with airflow or is it just a Ferrari thing?
i have to disagree that some people like the big rubber bumpers. i have yet to find anyone that liked the rubber bumpers on cars from that era. it was a federal law that all news cars had to withstand a 5mph (or so) crash with no damage. it was all about reducing insurance rates. the whole thing was pretty much a fiasco and soon abandoned.
Use on the Ferrari 308 some black Turtle Wax. It makes wonders on faded paint. The down side, is that you need to apply the product more often, like every week if you drive a lot the car.
Very nice trick make someone bring you a cup of tea. Sadly, I first have to teach my girlfriend that golf "tee" thing before this works. Wlll report on progress.
There is a slight difference but thats not the reason because this 'deep' from valance was also a factory option on US spec cars. I had the same struggle last time I did a conversion .

Im really interested in your background, living most car guys dream of indulging in car projects, let alone Ferrari's. Looks like you have a fairly normal sized house so your house to car equity ratio is way beyond what most guys can get their wife to agree too. I am guessing she has no idea what you really spend :D

yes that really doesn't help with the hand build differences. but its all part of the progress.
@@Ratarossa At least u are giving hope to people like me of eventually being able to buy something like that and revive it :-)
It looks much cleaner now, although I like the look of any 308 or 328. Those front lips are rare and I'm sure those headers will sound great on it.

Hey Jon thats a great idea.... thats why I love putting the videos out, sometimes subscribers come up with ideas like this
It’s 5 o’clock pm here in Florida so my brew while watching will a bit different . Cheers 🍻 . Now I’m ready to watch .
Damn, no wonder US car owners are modifying their cars to Euro spec. Those bumpers look hideous

A RUclips build-off!
I’d like to see the 308 without a bumper and just a nice grill from the valance up to the bonnet.i think that would look amazing.
It would look nice but no doubt last a few weeks before someone parked to close and damaged everything

Aw man, I totally prefer the U.S./Magnum P.I. 308s! I wish you were keeping it the same!
Good job. I've loved the 308 since it was on Magnum P.I. Such great lines.
you can get those scrapers in tough plastic off e bay for about two quid , very handy to have about , and a lot easier on body work.

I’d do a dark Ferrari grey with goldish ginger campagnolo alloys
