  • Todd Helms reviews the Delta Wading Jacket by Sitka Gear. If you're looking for a bomb-proof waterfowl hunting jacket this jacket fits the bill. Add the right layers and this shell jacket is built to perform for early to late season duck and goose hunting. The Delta Wading Jacket is cut shorter and includes water-sealing cuffs to keep you dry when you find yourself waist deep in flooded timber or a western river. The magnetic lay flat pockets are slick and make accessing your gear a breeze.

I have never been a brand specific person, but I really enjoy the pieces of Sitka gear I already own. Would you say the DWJ surpasses the quality of its competitors and is worth the hefty sum of money for just a shell jacket?

Agreed, if you're looking for a shell it's tough to beat.

Why is there no size medium in 11 size boot? Im 5' 10" 154 lbs and im swimming in the L size 11 boot. Can we get a medium?

Can you tell me about the sizing? What size do you wear? What is your chest size? I'm a 46" chest. I know I'll need an extra large to accommodate layers but will that be too big without layers? Thoughts?

Todd is a 50" chest and wears the XXL, it's perfect for use with layers and not too big for early season use thanks to Sitka's sizing system. Everyone is different though and we would recommend trying on different sizes in a retailer.

How does it work if you are in water deep enough to go over the bottom of the jacket? I assume it just gets a little wet and the waders keep you dry?

I have the half zip t, and the grinder hoody, to finish my system I plan to get the gradient jacket and the DWJ, would you get the gradient jacket or hoody for the system? I don’t think I’d like having 3 hoods

If the hoods are a concern go with a jacket but we prefer the hoodies
